Goodness I had no idea he had died. Shocked. I first saw him playing for Birmingham City in 1971 against Hull City, he was only 16 yrs old & a star in the making.
Although that Birmingham City strip is clearly a cobbled together mish mash of home and away kits, it still looks ace. These uploads are bloody ace. RUclips at its very best is this!
agree with the comments about the Birmingham kit, It does look decent. As an aside the Arsenal dug outs are very unusual, almost look like shower cubicles!
I think it was the reverse fixture that Year that was Birmingham City 3 Arsenal 3 Trevor Francis (RIP) scored a hat trick for Birmingham and Malcolm MacDonald scored a hat trick for Arsenal. Mid week game and unforgettable.
Alf won the title with Spurs (as a player) then managed ipswich to the title and then england to the world cup. It's quite possible (likely even) that we'll never see any of those things happen again in our lifetimes.....which put's ramsey's achievements in a even better perspective.
Agreed we're unlikely to see an Englishman do that but Didier Deschamps won ligue 1 with Marseille as a player & manager and won the world cup as a player & manager
Birmingham were robbed of a win. Had a perfectly good goal chalked-off. Ball hits inside of the post & continues its forward line of trajectory across the line, when it’s finally cleared by Jennings it’s clearly over the line. Arsenal’s goal was from a dodgy free-kick decision. If the ref gave similar decisions against Arsenal Brian Moore would’ve been apoplectic with rage. Good to see Sir Alf put Moore in his place too.
Super Mac Malcolm Macdonald is playing up front with Frank Stapleton for the Gunners 76-79 seasons. Super Mac scored his hatrick when he signed from his old club, Newcastle United, in 76, and the score was 5-3 to the Gunners.
You know what sticks out most of all? When players go down, they go down hard, because of tackles. There's no play acting bull**** in there. There's no dangling feet looking for contact. Refreshing.
I went to this game as a blues fan. Kro. Note only one sub. John Connolly. Francis was a god. Keith Birchin was on off but hibbit was a great player. Ohhh and Jim Montgomery in goal the old hero from Sunderland. Some memories
RIP Trevor Francis.

@@gwiley7871 Thanks my aged memory is not the best. It was a great game that I do recall :) I was season ticket holder in the Main stand!
The Blues played well
Great post. That music and credits at the end. Magic. Who didnt want to take a ball outside for a kickabout after watching this

In Ipswich's first ever season in the Top flight, he also got them promoted
Trevor Francis was class, wasn't he? I always enjoyed Brian Moore's dry commentary describing an overhit shot "endangering the lives of spectators"
Amazing hearing the thoughts of Sir Alf. He always gave me the impression he should be Chairman of the Water Board rather than a football boss
Borderline sociopath.
He tried very hard to adopt that accent

The late, great Trevor Francis. Even he recognized that no player was worth £1,000,000 . Transfer fees have been stupid ever since.
Great watch thank you, Blimey,West Ham with three strikers on the pitch, but struggling again, I've been suffering for years!
love this channel...keep em coming...
Up the blues inverness supporters club rip trevor

Great memories, Great City team back then …had to be to beat the almost invincible Liverpool team of the mid 70s

Peter Barnes should never have been sold by City
look at the clemence position in the 2. city goal such a leak of fundemantal
Trevor Francis really showed the fraud that is Liam Brady the way to play the game here
No shin pads.
