All those people who disliked the video are those people who keep fish in bowls
Yes. The complete truth
Agreed.
Or they just clicked it on accident and didn't relise it... b-but still
Facts
Lol no more dislike
this is why i love bettas. i've never had a shy one who didn't want to be right where the action is.
Word!
69 likes (sorry)
Jacob will not be upstaged!
"Jacob!" had me cracking up!
You’ve had that snail for 5 years? How! They only live for a year
Ive had mine for almost five...so yeah...
Apple snails live for a year but most snails live longer
@@alimery07 internet said the lifespan for nerites is 1 year
@@herobrineslayer1585 oh it does tf
@@herobrineslayer1585 Yeah I have had mine for 5 years as well but tbh they look like they are near the end.
Hey....I cannot believe you've had your nerite snail (zebra) for five full years....That's the first time I've heard this..wow congrats!!
hard tap water is what they like! if you live in places with hard tap water, they'll do well
Jacob is one of kind 😂❤️I love him already
I love it! While the video was all about nerite snails... Jacob totally stole the show and all the comments. I think he knew what he was doing :D
Yeah haha he was such a great fish.
My Bettas loved Nerite snails...they thought they were delicious !!!
oh nooo haha
How can a Betta even eat a snail😮
I'm considering getting a Nerite snail, just one, for my 6g tank that sits under a window. It's planted so cleaning the gravel/dirt is impossible, was hoping these little guys could pick up what I couldn't.
But seriously glad to have come across a betta and snail size comparison! Didn't want to buy a snail just so my betta could turn it over and have a snack.
Sounds like a plan! Just want to say that betta vary a lot in personality, and I've known some bettas who love picking on a snail's softer parts and their "antennae". Good luck!!
I just got 2 of these snails today to put with my betta and he leaves the bigger one alone about the size of the one in the video but the tiny one I saw him poking the shell should I be worried for the little guy???
@@lrajos4 Hard to say! Fish scavenge naturally, so there just might be some stuff on the shell it wanted, and seeing as betta don't have teeth, the shell should be fine. In comparison other snails would do more damage to each other's shells.
If it starts to go after the soft fleshy bits when the snail is moving, that's a problem. I found my fish to be too lazy to bully the snail much when it was first introduced. If yours goes after the snail constantly, stress and eventually starvation will be a concern.
@@SorosPhuvix thanks for the reply...I'll keep an eye on him!

This should be called " Dude Loves Snail"
Jacob has quite the personality haha my blue (red fin) Crowntail Betta always looks grumpy haha his name is Majesty
I love my zebra nerite, he’s the coolest, he’s helpful and actually quite adorable, I as well keep my snail with my betta!
That's awesome :) zebra nerites for the win!!
Thank you for convincing me to get a zebra snail for my betta Rosemary (like the herb)!!💖 He’s alone and I think this could be super beneficial for him.
Thank you for the video. I'm actually looking in acquiring a betta in the near future so I've been researching proper tank set up. I saw the zebra snail as a possible tank mate and you've got me sold :)
Glad I could help!
the start of a absolute legend
Do you provide your snails with a calcium supplement for their shell growth?
Great question! I used to, but not anymore. I have not noticed a significant difference, but it could be that my substrate and decor in my tank leaches off calcium.
Is it ok for a 8 gallon to have a single betta with a zebra nerite? Or is it too much bioload. I read that Nerite poops a lot and might cause an ammonia spike? BTW Jacob wants your attention lol
Jacob is a sweet friend to your nerite...That made me laugh...he's gorgeous too!!!
Hi, I’m new to the fish keeping hobby. I currently have my first fish, a beautiful betta. I was considering getting a snail for the tank, but I wanted to do research first because, quite frankly, I don’t trust the people at the store. So I have a few questions. Do I need to have a planted tank if I want a snail? Do they only eat algae? Do they eat fish poop? If I don’t have a planted tank, would I have to give the snail stuff to eat or does he just eat the poop? Some of the questions you won’t really need to answer because it is based off the answer to another question. Thank you! By the way, Jacob is beautiful 😂.
Great questions, now although I can't speak for all fish store employees, I do believe a lot of them are quite knowledgeable, but even with information I tell you, definitely double check with other sources on the internet to make sure.
If your fish tank is around 3-5 gallons or more, there are definitely many snail options for you. I wouldn't recommend the big ones like apple snails, but zebra nerites, horned nerites, and ramshorns would be my go-to option. As I tell everyone, it's rare but possible that your specific betta will not tolerate anything else in a small tank, including any snails. So keep in mind that can always be a possibility, although unlikely. Snails mostly eat algae and decaying matter including live-plant matter. nerites and ramshorns do not eat healthy live plants. They do not need live plants either, but would prefer them. If you think you have no algae what so ever, you can feed them sinking algae wafers (very little at a time). They do not eat fish poop. Hope this helps!
Fish For Thought
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your time. Thanks!
My betta also shows same behaviour with my mystery snail. ❤. I thought this behaviour is common with Bettas and snail😅😅
Quick question. I’m about to setup a 10 gallon for my daughter, and she wants a betta and she loves snails. What is a good number to have in your tank ? Would getting 2 or 3 be too many? By the way, Your betta is really cool and seems to love your snail more than you😂
10 gallon is an great size for a betta, you're doing it very right! If we're talking the zebra nerite, feel free to have 5 or even a bit more. Shouldn't be a problem stocking wise, but might look a little awkward with all these snails everywhere. I suggest looking into other snails too, as there are many many types, and some have more uses than just eating algae!
Also it's pretty uncommon but sometimes the individual betta might not be able to live with any snails in a 10 gallon as they will keep pecking at them. Pretty rare though. Good luck!
Fishtank reviews of a game with the most interesting mechanics in a lot more ways and I like the way the gameplay works with it 😮as well and 🎉🎉🎉 congratulations on the baby boy who has a lot to learn about his life in this year so proud to have you guys as the first to be part and to have a chance of getting
I love how Jacob is just like my betta Troykoiboi, they just always want attention and will flaunt themselves whenever they can
Ain't that the truth
Jacob is demanding video time!!! They are both very beautiful ❤❤❤
Oof I like the fact that you used (ILLENIUM ft.nevve-Fractures)
My betta yeets my snail off the side of the tank. 😂
Oh my god that's adorable!!! I'm sorry for your loss, he was super cute. I have a bunch of baby blue and ivory mystery snails at the moment. Let me know if you'd like some! I'd be happy to send a few your way.
Wow that's awesome, but I'm in Canada! Shipping is a hassle I imagine... but you are very kind for offering to me. I appreciate it very much!
How big is the 🐌, she make Jacob look tiny
I can not find the water parameters... My water is already high like 7.8 GH I added some turttle calcium, try feeding it bleached zuchinni, spinach and boiled broccoli and still my olive nerite is loosing its shell ... so I moved it and a smaller virginia nerite to a much smaller tank with more calcium, but I truly wanted to keep them in the big tank with the betta 😢
That quality is so good, or maybe its your perfectly cycled water :(
My betta does the same exact thing when I point the camera on a shrimp or something, he just needs to be the center of attention at all cost.
My betta, Freddy is in love with snail friend that hitched a ride on a plant I put in his tank. They like to hang out together on the leaf hammock I have set up.
JACOOOOB!!! GRrrArrrArRaaAAGH!!!!!! 😤😤😡😡😤💢👺👺😾
Where’s the Minecraft music?

Jacob is so cute. And funny as heck. Need for attention..lol
Will nerite snail species 'get together' and start laying eggs all over the ? I have 2 diffrent types of nerite snails
Did you say they aren’t hermaphrodites?
Love this i have a set up like yours and my babies love each other i always look for new tips to keep them happy and healthy thanks for the info i so love your betta Jacob is adorable love love love ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The bettas fins were just right to cover the snail
Jacob is so jealous my goldfish is the same way. Lol
Where is the water parameter in the description
Jacob is the star of the show!

Lol Jacob is hilarious!!!
Jacob loves that snail
Their smell out the algae haha
Bettas are the best .
How is that snail still alive
omg loved this happy fun vid
Jacob wants to be a star
nasty jacob..... love him.
Do you need a lid on your tank to keep snails?
no but if they don't like your water quality, nerite snails are known to come out of your tank, but not too far xD
noty jacob 🤣
My netrite seems to be pooping all over the tank and I have bright white sand. Any tips? I just got them 2 days ago
Can't really do much about the poop besides siphoning them out. Since snails do poop a lot.
Ha...
The betta fish was so funny.
It wanted to be in the Video. 💛
Illenium tho
I love Jacob.
im not worthy
I love Jacob
Jacob lol
Classic Jacob
Wish my betta liked my snail it fucking attacks it
Oh no :c
Unfortunately these are the only creature i can't keep. I've bought 8 and only 2 of them have even moved. My water parameters are good , they've been given good food. I've left them in the tank for 2/3 months and checked them regularly onlt to eventually remove an empty shell. Sad and expensive. In Australia they cost between $15/ $20 a snail. Any tips or advice from anybody very welcome
Some kinds of snails are hermaphrodites and don't need another snail. I have some snails just like yours but mine don't know that they are not supposed to lay eggs in my fresh water tank. I have over 100 baby snails and 6 more clutches of eggs that will hatch in the next few days.
New subscriber, and first time fish owner. Trying to like and comment every single video. Why do I do that? IDK. Very informative vids. Thanks!
Very Nice and informative video! Jacob is so adorable! I was trying to decide which snails to get? I am thinking about getting zebra nerite snails instead of the mystery snails. I don't want any snails that reproduce!
Nerites for sure!
Thank you! You have an enjoyable weekend!
Hi I bought a little blue Apple snail with my betta Tango and they get along so well. I was quite surprised how fast and big Lily got. She’s over an inch big. Kind of freaked me out at first and I think Tango too. Haha. Just happy Tango loves her. She nibbles on Lillies food once in awhile which is ok. She likes spinach and kale anyways. ❤️
I just got a rams horn snail hitch hiker
🐌 and while trynna catch him on camera..
my betta got in the way... I sense some jealousy .. how adorable 🥺🥺🥺
Jacob is nosy like my Blue! Thanks for the info.
😅 well actually, that is a male and female, they have both reproductive organs, and typically the more dominant snail will play the role of the male. Or in some cases, they will both fertilize each other
My betta also do that he also eyeballing my nerie snail that it rarely moves because it was always been pecked when my betta see it was moving so I relocate my snail with my goldfishes and it seems fine in there than with bettas.
Jacob knows not why you give so much attention to snail. Jacob requires all attention.
I put two small mystery snails in my 10 gallon, then added my betta. She attacked them multiple times, she even ate part of one of their antennae!
I had to move the snails to another tank.
I wish my betta was as non aggressive as yours
I have a problem with keeping my zebra nerite in the water. He keeps climbing to the top and by the lid.
The water parameters arent in the description like you said :( it's ok though I have brackish setup for these guys to breed, already have lots of eggs.
Just bought 2 black nerites from petsmart just noticed that 1 has a bunch of small white circles on one side of its shell. Is that something i should be concerned with?
I'm not aware of this issue :( Never experienced this.
Can you put these in a 5 gallon with a betta
Maybe 1 but that's about it. Snails produce a lot of waste and it'll be hard to keep safe parameters if you have more than one snail with the betta in a 5 gallon.
My betta do the same thing when I am trying to record.😂😂
The thumbnail makes it look like Jacob is dead I was concerned for a moment
My Betta Winston, also does this whenever I try to film my Nerite. What a ham!
thanks so much...i just lost my one year old beloved mystery snail who was about 3.5 inches in size (could have been a small apple snail)...but after seeing that your nerite didn't overtake the tank and stay as peaceful as mine did AND even live up to five years of age, I will definitely definitely consider this little cutie pie..Would you say the zebra snail has been the best choice for ou? Sorry i am replying so late...
What can I feed zebra nirite snails
Have you just got the one? i have just ordered 5 for my 125litre tank and wondered if that was to many?
No way 5 is nothing for a 125 litre! Good luck with them, they're awesome :)
Oh and yes, I only have one. I used to have two, but one of them bit the dust quite quickly.
Thank you for your reply, i did give two away in the end as i have otocinclus to and i wanted to make sure there was enough food for all :)), all the very best with yours x
I love my nerite snails 🐌 too! 😍 I think I might get a Malaysian trumpet snail too, though, because they aerate the substrate 🐌❤️
