I have filed for SSI Actually about 2 and a 1/2 years ago I finally got a hearing on the 28th of August this month... I have been living with A old friend of the Family, Which they have informed me that they are getting married and I will have to move Or pay $400 but that would include my rent and lights. It's a little portable building right outside the house Which is a very fair price to me but the problem is I can't work Just waiting on my SSI to be approved..so I can be able to pay, so I don't have to move. I Don't know where I would go.. So when they call me about the living arrangements what do I do? Thank you for your input. God bless you in your family...

    I'm SSDI/SSI, MEDICARE/MEDICAID...
I'm in NC....How would I setup a donation account or whatever like Go Fund Me and leave the SSA and any other gov out of it?
Can I do it myself or have someone do it on my behalf or??? I heard something about setting up a trust or something... sounds above my head but I'm willing to learn.
I hate asking for help but the housing program I'm with is useless and very problematic.
I never thought i would ever be on the recieving end of help instead of the giving... but here i am.
    Thanks In Advance

Im wondering if itll be worth my time to be able to pay bills with no issues and fund my lifestyle and to care for my kids. Or should i continue to struggle through the pain and having to call out all the time etc etc😢😢😢

It took me 3 months once I signed up for SSI and Medicaid came with it. Once I turned 65 I kept my SSI and recieved medicare and medicaid. That's how it went for me. I have heard some people say they had to have a second hearing, I guess it might depend on how sick you are.

After you begin receiving benefits the time of your first review will depend upon the probability of recovery. If you broke your leg and couldn't work, they know that, on average, it takes two years to heal a broken bone. Your review would be around twenty-three(23) months after your accident, then again six (6) months later.
If you broke your leg, your back, and had a head injury they are going to determine if you are likely to recover. If the reason for your disability is unlikely to improve, your review will be between seven(7) and fifteen (15) years after you begin receiving benefits.

I'd like to ask about the LEF. It's the fee we are charged for making a policy change, outside of the allotted time frame. About 10 years ago I made a policy change, with good reason, and now I'm hit with the LEF of $3 per month for
THE REST OF MY LIFE! I understand that SSI doesn't want people making policy changes often. I can understand paying this fee for the year I made the policy change.
After 10 years of paying this penalty, it's about $400.
I know this doesn't seem like allot of $, but it is to a person that is trying to survive on SSI.
Where and how else does anyone get a LIFETIME PENALTY?
Also if I'm stuck with this penalty for the rest of my life, can I now make a policy change anytime I wish?

    • @MsLilBit8344
      @MsLilBit8344 2 года назад +7

      Did anyone answer you?
SSDI is based off of work history (work history and an average of wages)
SSI is more akin to a social program for the needy. Some might say it's closer to a welfare program SSi is needs based. It's not much money at all. It's more for children born with disabilities or adults that become disabled without enough work credits. Like a stay at home mom that never worked but got in an accident. Since never worked than ssdi wouldn't be an option.
Also if you was always a super low earner. Like if you worked as a waitress your wages would be small even if you had always worked.
If you qualify for SSDI but the check is tiny because of super low wages then you might qualify for SSI too.
Another scenario is an adult child that qualifies for SSI. If the adult child's parent became disabled, the adult child might be able to get a check based off of that parents disability check. Now that doesn't mean that the parents check is reduced. it's just a pay scale based off mom or dad's check.

@@GreatGreebo Right? It blows me away how some people are such entitled ingrates. This RUclipsr used his time and expertise to kindly make a video to help people, and all this brainless viewer has to say is some flippant, self serving, extremely rude, and completely irrelevant comment. I could never be a RUclipsr because I'd be telling these kind of nimrods off all the time. It's unacceptable and I would instantly delete any comment from anyone who acts this way; and tell them "YOU go make a video dude and see if you can do better. In the meantime stfu."
