My sister bought my copy for my birthday. Of course I love it. Static was the first character I related to. And Dwayne McDuffie was from my hometown. So there was no doubt I was gonna support.
I was so excited when I saw DC was doing a compendium of the old Milestone stuff, and then I saw it was softcover and that kept me from getting them. With it being that many issues in there, I really wanted a hardcover. I have had softcovers that big and they always tear over time due to stress on the binding. Happy to see this is a nice hardcover. I will be picking this up. I only read the first few issues of the new stuff, but really liked what I read.
@@dynamicpenguin55 I'm very careful with my books, but I have had 2 over time either pull away from the binding or tear at the spine just from opening them up. They were older, so could have been an age thing. I'm also not a fan on a paperback this size due to the creases left behind after just a few read throughs. I don't know, I just wish they had done these as hardcovers, especially that size of a book. Any other time, they would have, so why not these. I would have bought them in a heartbeat if that had been the case.
I feel you. I get why they did softcover. Releasing a hardcover with that many pages would make it a $150 book at retail. That's a hard sell when most people haven't heard of the characters. At least with the softcover, the production cost is low, so they could do a huge print run and hope people discover it over time. I'm still holding out hope that we'll get hardcovers for the individual 90's series eventually.

I have the singles already, but I’ll order probably 2 of the hardcovers. One for me, the other for my younger brother. He loves anime, but doesn’t really know Static.
Since I got the singles, I’ll skip the hardcovers on the season 1’s. I appreciate the series are published in “seasons” instead of ongoings. Makes it easier to follow.
I kinda wish it was ongoing. I feel like you get different storytelling when the creators know it's not ending every 6 issues. But I love what we've gotten so far.

Iv'e never had a compendium tear or fall apart, although I'm very careful with all of my books
