@David well yes, but actually no. the music plays from a tv found in a destroyed building in the first level of the city 17 uprising. on the tv, gman is shown
My take is that gman is a separate entity so far ahead of the combine that they cannot comprehend his goal or endgame. Gman plays with the fabric of reality. This the only thing that they understand. This is why they built the trap. To snag him in one instance of reality. This is all they can do. Gman knows that due to entropy he can just wait. His perception of time is non existent. It was almost as if the trapping and his escape are happening at the same time. It was just an eventuality for him. The scary thing is that gman isn’t even the leader of what ever this race is. He’s simply a salesman.
Yeah gman definitely allowed himself to be captured. The one question is why were the combine so lazy instead of moving the vault off world? When the mystery scientist was speaking with the advisor it almost seems like the combine wanted her to free gman
His employers have nothing better to do than to pick a chosen few to “Hire” to set in motion their very plans, or it’s all one massive elaborate ploy for their entertainment. The endgame, revealing that there was never any cascade, and that it was all their making, to see how humans would react to such a world? Who knows
In general Half Life is an action shooter, but its lore makes it so depressive, horrific and hopeless, that its like a horror game hidden in a cover of action and epic things
I get a feeling of unease and anxiety whenever I hear the "Distorted Trumpets" theme, something about it makes my chest very heavy like there's something watching from the distance.
This further proves that the G-Man intentionally got caught, knowing that Alyx would get him out and make and then hire her after intentionally doing her a solid.
This could just be an old radio station out in the countryside broadcasting a looping message that has long since been distorted, due to the disrepair the station has fallen into without people
It is creepy because, in half life 2, when this audio was first found, there's an unplugged TV that plays the audio for the first time as a hidden Easter egg alongside a showcase of Gman with a crow, fixing his tie.
Who actually remembers (the scary easter egg) where you find the Unplugged Gman TV and then the elevator with a doll and G-man's suitcase... this could mean a lot of things... Half Life is full of mind tricking messages and a constant mind blowing story. Gman is a rebel shu ulathoy embryo that hasnt been enslaved by combines "reincarnated in g-man" and he wants to destroy combines using Gordon "his DOLL in the half life series". fact is... G-man could even be related to Gordon freeman (G- Man) as being his father or something
I remember that part. I was 10 on my first playthrough and I saw the TV, then the suitcase and the doll. The instant that I picked up the doll my flashlight died and I thought it was correlated. Scared tf out of me
nah I don't think he's a NIHILANTS, it was pretty clear that you killed the last one in HL1. I think the g-man is something far more sinister than this.
GUYS!!! so im WRONG but i have A BETTER THEORY. G-Man is a Shu Ulathoi an Advisor... advisors are some god like power freakin animals right? well well... see the combines enslave many species during their path. and they infected the shu ulathoi with a technique called fake information like they made the advisors think wrong things and now have them! G-MAN AND HIS EMPLOYERS are way older advisors that are embryos. they arent shu ulathois like the advisors with all the mechanical parts.. they are shu ulathois with powers that the combines want to get from them. they have lots of informations in their head but they went in a deep deep sleep when they got caught by the combines, that's why they are carrying them in HL alyx. G-man is the only embryo shu ulathoi that decided to reincarnate... in a G-Man "a government man" and he works at black mesa: knowing everything! HE PULLED THE STRINGS in the half life series. but he needed some mercenaries such as Gordon, cpl Adrian Shepard, and Alyx. but Eli vance knows much about him and wants to "kill him, as well as end the combine's domination" thats why he took alyx at the end. Half Life 3 is going to be great that for sure.
It is very sad, the radio might be an old run-down radio station that was distorted ever since the combine invaded. Or it was an abandoned number station that doesn't work anymore. Half-life 2 is Depressing.
This song isn't much of a "G-man" easter egg. It was in Half-Life 2 and it's a combination of the songs: "Dostorted Trumpets" and "Is that the door?" Where the "Is that the door?".
ruclips.net/video/pz5SNCkzKMo/видео.html The sample for "Is that the door?" comes from Zero G. Here's a video that showcases this sample being used in several video game audios.

Easter egg relates to when you find a TV in the start of Half Life 2. The TV is heard playing this music as you advance up a staircase. When you approach the source of the noise and look at the TV, you see G-Man for less than a few seconds. The TV near immediately shuts off and you are left with nothing but ambience.
