What If We Nuked the Sun?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 июн 2024
- Humanity’s nuclear arsenal is capable of destroying all life on Earth. Over. And over. And over. Maybe it's time we dumped it far away. We might want to inhabit other planets in the future, so how about our closest star? How many nukes could we throw at the Sun? What would be the price tag for this mission? And could we accidentally destroy our only source of daylight?

It's not just about finding enough money to make antimatter. It's the time required also. At our current technological level it would take longer than the age of the universe to produce anything meaningful. And then there's the technological challenge of storing it which we haven't solved. Then how do we control the energy release from using it to boil a cup of tea, to travelling the solar system? Or can we only let it go in a single burst like a bomb....
I do believe we can make anti matter. There is a place that can make it but it costs trillions of dollars. It's the most expensive thing in the world. For what research I've learned.
Bruh
Bruh, 50 years ago people would bever though you can build 8k gaming pc with VR with lumps of semiconductor silicon and electricity
@@richard35791 completely different to making an antimatter bomb because antimatter is currently undetectable to humans hell we don't even know if it's real or if dark matter is real so this whole video was based on a lot of speculation
Might as well light a match.
Carbon composites for protection from the 1377C sun. Tungsten and titanium both melt above 1600 C. I'm sure an alloy could be made to withstand similar temperatures, and if some sort of active, or even possibly passive cooling features were incorporated then it could probably withstand more. I think the best chance humans have to survive indefinitely is to mine planets to their core and build a structure around a star so we can use it to power a giant craft made from planets we mine for building materials and fuel. Imagine terraforming a planet just to grow food, lumber and make fabrics for everyone on board, and then we just toss what's left of the planet into our sun and move on to the next solar system and repeat the process. With enough materials additional ships could be made and they could either stick with us or go the opposite direction to spread humans around the universe as much as possible. Then when there are no planets or stars left in the galaxy the ships can all meet and as the human population declines they can use the ships as fuel until there is nothing left. Imagine being the last thing in the universe. It's either that or we need to evolve to survive in open space and grow large enough to consume galaxies.
At 27000 odd degrees in the top layer of atmosphere of the sun the nuke would melt way before it got to the lower surface levels and the surface would melt it as well at approx 16500 degrees
humanity:*sends all nukes to the sun*
physics:*causes the nukes to melt if they got near the sun*
The sun is Amazing it give us life, Makes us happy, provide food and warmth 😊

Thanks for watching.
The Nuke would just get ripped apart by the sun’s gravity before it be able to detonate
I think in that situation a "world economy" would pretty much be irrelevant
What if portals open up to other worlds or dimensions?
Nuking the Sun would have less effect than those mites that live on our eye lashes have on us.
Step 1: Buy Uranium 238 from Amazon
Step 2: Boil into gas
Step 3: Run U238 through cell membranes to capture U235 particles
Step 4: Obtain 33lbs of enriched U235
Step 5: Buy 10lbs of trinitrotoluene
Step 6: Encase Trin in steel box
Step 7: Encase U235 in same box with 90% concentration minimum
Step 8: Place fuse linking Trin to a switch (radio controlled or manually burned)
Step 9: Detonate Trin to cause nuclear fission and detonation
Here's an explosive idea, What if a antimatter version of our sun (from a animatter) universe phased in to our reality and the two subsequently collided. What would be the difference between that explosion and a supernova explosion
That's an interesting thought, thank you for sharing it with us.
I've actually always thought of this as a solution to get rid of our nukes 🤔
There's no point. The knowledge to make them will always be there
@@jake51515 yh but to not have any anyway will always be welcome
Hi there! Gr8 channel! Had subscribed for a while now and love it. So, question: the antimatter present on our planet...where is it present exactly? If matter and antimatter combined can create a lot of energy and annihilate eachother, how can we never saw that reaction? I mean, since all arrond us is matter... How can matter and animatter coexist here (and anyother palce)? And, if the big bang explosion created equal amougs of matter and antimatter, where did all that antimatter went?
Thank you so much and keep up with the great videos! (:
There wasn't equal amounts of anti-matter and matter, there was slightly more matter if there wasn't the universe wouldn't exist for the reason you mentioned. They would have just annihilated each other and nothing would have come to be.
Love your videos
What's the clip you used for this? 00:09
"We are made of stellar ash. Our origin and evolution have been tied to distant cosmic events. The exploration of the cosmos is a voyage of self-discovery. I believe our future depends powerfully on how well we understand this cosmos in which we float, like a mote of dust in the morning sky." - Carl Sagan
Sun: Earth stop tickling me
Earth: it’s not me doing it-
Nuking the Sun back to life = Refilling the ocean with buckets of water. Both pointless.
Dude at 0:38 is now playing oppenheimer
What if: What if we nuked the sun?
Me: It would probably do nothing
What if: That is correct
Space What If theme is my favorite never skipped any of those.
I love your guy’s videos
I think they would explode before they hited the sun
A nuke sent to the sun would be like a pixel going out on a 8k TV... barely noticeable. If a million earths fit inside the sun then what the hell do you think a tiny party popper would do to it.
Let’s just appreciate that this guy helps us learn in school
Ah just get Superman to rid the earth of all nuclear weapons.
Then create SunMan by throwing all them nukes at the sun
I am not sure if this is true, but I have read somewhere that dropping nukes on venus could clear the toxic atmosphere and make it habitable or something lol
You're comparing Venus to something that would take approx 1000+ Jupiters to fill in size and Jupiter constantly gets bombarded with meteors that would make the one that sent the dinosaurs to extinction look like a pebble the sun wouldn't feel a thing
nah. Thats just wild theory..
dont believe Elon Musk dude
The nuke would make a ginat creator (pls explain) around venus, it would also increase to 480C and, not in the habitale zone so, no we cant'do that
What if we switched all the land with water and vice versa on earth?
He already made that
Basically almost the same but with more land and less water
I had something like that, what If everything was underwater for 10 seconds
Depends what you mean. Like on the crust? Or would the core of the earth also become water?
Love the videos! Would love to see movie titles when you show movie clip :) the videos have peaked my interest in a lot of films
You need to do an episode of “what if the Strategic Defense Initiative had been created in the 80’s”
Honestly we’ll need over a trillion nukes to bring the sun back to life
@Sco-Cen OB2 You dont even know that🤦♂️🤦♂️ it has not been tested

"What if we nuked the sun, and what that means for your weekend. Coming up at eleven.
I was taught that there was a slight inbalance between created matter and antimatter. In a perfect balance, both would have anihilated each other. But as there was more matter than antimatter, the remaining matter formed our universe.
What if there were multiple dominant species evolved from different animals?

What If suggestion:
What if Earth had the Galilean moons? + all 79 of jupiter's moons?
Why do we watch this?
Brain: just to make sure
The missle would be destroyed by the heat before it got to the sun
What a good idea ...
It's something how, although this wouldn't work anyway, if for some reason there was a shot at re-energizing our sun with all of the world's nukes, it wouldn't be due to lack of materials that would hinder us but rather the potential high price tag.
If things are so bad that that we have to send all the nukes to the sun, and we're worried about money, we deserve to die.
This reminds me of Caligula waging war against the sea…you’ll never win
Basic physics shows us that to make a star live longer, we need to take mass from it. Since lower mass stars live longer since they don't fuse things as fast so they sustain their fuel trillions of years longer. Now let's see what if cover star lifting.
That makes no sense
I'll redirect you to Issac author who's field is physics and describes it better on his channel. Judging by your comment, you only know the basics.
Reminds me of how insignificant we are compared to the Sun but still people have ego on how powerful they are.
now THIS is content
"Its fine. Just needs a jump start. It's just old."
Please make a video on what if each and every country had nuclear weapons
Sun : Ouch Damn You Mosquito.
I knew the answer would be that it wouldn’t do anything to the sun but I just had to watch it 🤣🤣
What If, you're the best video teller ever 😄😄😄
its like adding a match stick to a forest fire
Don’t think the sun would die if it ran out of helium. Pretty sure it would just move on to fusing helium and become a red giant where eventually it will swallow the earth
Nuking the sun would be like pissing on mount Kilauea and this is still giving it too much credit.
The cost would be literally zero if the failure to do so would be the extinction of humanity. Experts and materials would cost nothing as we would have to unite all of our efforts to make this happen. As stated, we couldn't make a dent in it with nukes, bit of there was a way, humanity would have to put aside their differences to accomplish the herculean effort.
Please do “What if all the planets were habitable”.

That's terrifying...
You send all the nukes and push the earth it self into sun the sun would not even noted it

That would cause human extinction
On another note. Does someone know what these apocalyptic movie scenes they are showing from? They seem interesting!!!

you guys should do what if on what if the sun swallowed the 8 planets
This guy is so smart I love him
That's like asking "what would happen if you dropped a few drops of water in the ocean?" literally nothing
