Smug, you can get a safe jump with Vanessa at the end of your combo (sway, HP uppercut, 623HP) If you hit the 623HP almost as high as possible, you can just hold up+forward to get a j.HP or j.HK safe jump.
The amount of max and quick mode you have changes based on what position the character is. Because of this some combos are impossible from starter position. You can change how much max and quick mode you have in the options menu. Also you can dash up throw by pressing back heavy once you are close enough. Not sure if you knew that.

Playing Strive there's a lot of "your turn, my turn" feel to it. This game feels like a constant scramble... very fun.
It still has turns but they are very narrow andmore prone to stealing turns if you think too much.
KOF is shoot first, ask questions later, maybe.
