Just to have transcribed this solo is crazy. Let alone memorize it and finally play it with so tight, perfect timing. I just love Joshua’s transcriptions. It reminds us guitar lovers how big those legends (such as Coltrane) really were. And as for Joshua, it shows us how crazy talented he is.
Totally agreed. Just took my understanding, and therefore appreciation, of Coltrane up for sure. Seeing what he is really doing harmonically on an instrument I'm familiar with helps make more sense of it. Amazing piece.
Hello, I am a jazz guitarist in Japan. This was one of the more amazing horn solo transcriptions/playing I have seen. I would love to see (hear) how you are incorporating these to your own playing. Please post more recent playing!
Coltrane was crazy, you are so much more! How do you manage to keep those thousands of notes in your mind in the right time, speed and order? Congratulations, man!
@@farko63 no trane solo is that easy on guitar but if you don't mind time in the shed it's possible. a lot of what he's doing in this solo revolves around pentatonics, which guitar players are pretty familiar to in other contexts.
Joshua, I have been diving back into a Love Supreme and found your performance. Wow amazing! Thank you and I look forward to hearing more of your music
There are many people who listen to Coltrane's music without hearing it. This is fantastic and one of the most musical transcriptions I've heard. Details!
Amazing. Looking it at a glance, it looks like a lot of pentatonic and it reminded me of Jens Larsen saying something about great players using pentatonic not because it is easy, but because they can make great lines with it.
Superhuman. At first I was speechless, then I made A LOT of noise watching this. Everything about this is literally beyond belief. I could not believe what I was seeing, but I just kept seeing it!!!! Braaaavooo 🙏💣💥 My god the phrasing 👽
Your technique of alternating strings to trill a note is something I've never seen before and I don't know how it never occurred to me until now. Brilliant.
As a guitarist, most jazz guitarists sounded to me like they were a little bit in trouble compared to horn players and piano. Thanks for showing us all things are possible!
i mean, can't you miss ONE note and play it out of time?!?!/ LOL! Amazing video! I can only imagine the dedication it took to pull this off so clean. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!
@@joshmeaderofficial can you please put up more transcription videos that are longer, or more vids of live band stuff or whatever? Over in USA Texas many of the jazz cats are sharing your videos, among them Glen Rexach from Austin Texas. I'm friends with Chris Maresh, who played bass with Eric Johnson, and I sent him your vids. I think now would be a good time to post like crazy! Rock the Casbah
This is absolutely fantastic. What an achievement. Transcribing and flawlessly performing one of the most intense and challenging solos in existence is simply stupendous. Very, very well done!
Awesome playing and you've really helped me bridge a gap with wanting to better my phrasing more like a horn player and understanding Allan Holdsworth.
It was great to hear what what Coltrane was playing without his huge sound and as his solo would as a guitar player. It reminded me a bit of Holdfield at a few places but mostly John McLaughlin. Which surprised the shit out of me.
You should sell this transcription in your site with the chords changes, I can watch it in slow mo and learn the solo but Im kind of lazy and Im learning other stuff too. At a decent price you have a winner here, think about it.
I new this solo was fast, in light of the pretty large intervalic jumps it makes in places, but I never realized how fast it actually was until I saw another guitarist play it note for note.
@@joshmeaderofficial nice work dude. it sounds beautiful in a different way on the guitar. Not replacing Coltrane or anything, but it's really interesting to hear that clean guitar play lines in that way.
@@joshmeaderofficial great playing. When you typically play a transcribed solo how reliant are you on the notation compared to going bit by bit maybe looping and mainly using your ears? I think it would be interesting for you to do a video showing you working on a transcription right from the start on a solo you have never heard before, your process

Talented and hard working.
I'll say.
Thanks for making this. As a guitarist this helped me understand Coltrane in a different way.
Its so different! My mind would be blown if a guitar player actually improved something similar.
Totally agreed. Just took my understanding, and therefore appreciation, of Coltrane up for sure. Seeing what he is really doing harmonically on an instrument I'm familiar with helps make more sense of it. Amazing piece.

this is my favorite solo on this album. Now that I know it's possible on guitar I have no excuse but to learn it!
Possible by who ?

So cool and thanks for uploading

Beautiful, how in the world did you memorize it? Totally impressed.
that's the point ! Incredible
🙌🙌🙌
Bro. Great work!! You should really tab these out for us students of guitar. Your sweeping and finger placements would really help us man!
Respect.
Genial!
Magnificent. So well done. Has this helped you incorporate some of these Coltranisms into your own playing ?
Yeah it's good and all but can you play enter the sandman??.. seriously mind blowing playing man, love your work - keep it up 😀

would love to see troy grady do a feature on this guy. such an fluid picking technique with an interesting grip.
Wow.
素晴らしすぎる!
指弾きギタリストよりも、ピックでここまで弾ける彼は本当に素晴らしい。

thanks my bro xx it's still probs the most challenging one I learnt

Sick!
Nice
Jeezzz.. 😱😱😱😱
👏👏👏
es maravilloso¡¡ do you sell the transcription?
Do you have any tabs for sale of Coltrane?
Or even Sonny Rollins?
That's amazing! How long did you prepare this (from the very beginning to the presentation)? Be honest ;) Greetings
