The biggest downfall to Chinal, in my opinion, is the internet access. Staying in contact with the West (news, TV shows, trends) is difficult these days as VPN's have been slowing down recently.
Spent 2 years in Shanghai .. love this place - a lot !! but surprised nobody answered " a lot of people everywhere" :-) when you asked what you do not like there .. but again - Shanghai is AMAZING place .. still miss it ..

Don't just compliment everything. many places in Shanghai are dirty. Last time I was in the Pearl tower, the windows are dirty. Subways are ill taken care of. No one stays in line.

Aaaalways sunny, neeever rain, never pollution, aaaalways a wonderful blue sky, neeeever hot and hunid like crazy, neeeever crowded, nowhere noise, renting an apartment is sooooo cheap, soooo much green everywhere, shanghainese people are sooo kind and friendly.. Yes yes, this is really the most livable city in the world. (O_o)
Pollution is the reason why I refused a very lucrative expat job offer from my employer. I don’t need all that beauty and culture if the air sucks. No one can tell long term effects of bad air so I say: Thank you but no thank you...

Lived there 8 years. Loved the old and the new theme. Could always find areas without foreigners.

I love Shanghai, for such an advanced business minded people and positive thinking attitude, the personal hygiene ofnpeople big let down.
Beef and dairy is a problem anywhere in Asia unfortunately. It's impossible to find good cheeses and steak.
