I think it was Coco Chanel who said that knee socks and Birkenstocks make the perfect cocktail of deliciously nerdy footwear if you're a tall Texan. Cats have 9 lives and they don't need socks or shoes. My dogs gets parasite medicine every month but I don't. I've also heard that Fabuloso works miracles........but maybe that was for floors. It's so difficult to keep my hacks straight. It was easier to keep up with in the South because we just used Coca Cola for everything.....parasites, windshield cleaner, christenings, cleaning car battery terminals, compost booster and all around rust buster.

Interesting about the gut pill. Some people do get sick... a bunch. It sounds like you had an encounter with food poisoning. I had f.p. in PV. Luckily I just made it home. My intervals were the same. And it last about 3 to 5 days. Bright side was i lost 15 lbs. Downside was... what did I eat? Under-cooked eggs, lettuce, mushrooms or things washed from the farmers creek or pond. I do know some people cant travel without a stomach pill. More meat and tequila. That's not so bad.

    ***Five Continents***
Geography was always a favorite subject of mine. Love staring at Maps and globes. I study my whole life in Texas, with the exception of 7th grade. I moved to Michoacán for my 7th grade and I was extremely embarrassed when the teacher asked who knew how many continents and the names...I immediately stood up and said, "There are seven continents. North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Antarctica."....Well the teacher made a fool out of me, he said I was wrong. Of course I argue that I have studied geography and knew what I was talking about and that he was wrong... Little did I know that the majority of World and the scientific community accepts that there are only five Continents. America (which of course includes North America, Caribbean, Central America, and South America), Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania (which includes Australia and Antarctica).
WTF, I never even heard of Oceania. I told the teacher he was making shit up... Now, I know and accept that there are only five Continents.
The majority of differences between EEUU and Mexico are really just differences between the EEUU and the rest of the world. Time and dates is also different in EEUU and the rest of the world. The majority of the world uses military time and say dates starting with day, month, year. I still get confused with that.

. The ability to purchase meds without a prescription in Mexico has likely given rise to a popular but misguided prophylactic dosing schedule of anti-parasitic drugs. As a physician, I can tell you that this is not a sound practice. There is no single drug that will treat all parasites and the most common infections (amoebiasis and giardiasis) cannot be eradicated with a one-time dose. Can you tell me what drug/dose is being touted in this six month routine prevention ?

I wonder, what constitutes a life for a cat? How many times he should have been tacos for the coyotes that run up our road ? What finally took him to cat heaven was diabetes. 2 weeks after a Vet visit and diagnosis. He was born feral. Lived for over 12 years as an inside outside cat. So in Arizona, 9 times he dodged the reaper. In Mexico he wouldn't have been so quick. Adios Simba, el gato macho.

Well I think it all comes down to what you eat but is not where you live, for some time while I was in USA I just to eat too much pork, that gave me parasites, I felt so fatigued and tired till I realized that I had parasites, one thing you should know is that veggies like cilantro have bacteria that you have to disinfect before you eat it

Exactly! I lived in Mexico for about ten years and I never took any pills for parasites nor did I know of anyone who did including my partner at the time who is a biotechnology profesor. It sounds to me like maybe it's a recent trend?

A little baking soda and water to take care of those tequila fueled nights. Waking up with a stomach ache. Works within seconds

👁👄👁 I’m low key offended my family has never told me about this anti-parasite pill despite the fact that I get sick every time I go and visit them. Over the years I’ve learned how to avoid it as best I could by drinking only bottled water and trying to avoid dairy. Which still isn’t very easy, so I can’t imagine how difficult that would be to keep up with if living permanently in Mexico. I’ll definitely be looking more into the anti-parasite, thank you so much for sharing this info!!

I’ve always assumed I get sick while eating food from a different country because of different bacteria in the food.

I would only take those parasite pills as needed, however you may be taking them pretty often because a lot of restaurants include parasites at no extra charge! The problem is you can't tell which places have the parasites.
