Hi Lori. In an earlier video in this commission series, you said you always use colors that all work well together and said you should do a video about that. Did you make or will you be making that? Color choices are a quite challenge. Your work is so beautiful and you deserve all the success in the world. Robin
Hi Lori, first just let me say I love, love, love your work. I have a question that I just can't seem to find an answer for anywhere on the internet and I thought you might know. I painted an abstract that has tons of texture much like what you do so I was wondering if you do an isolation layer and a varnish on your work when you're finished. I'm worried that the isolation layer of gel and the varnish may pool in the low parts or valleys of the painting. If you do do this do you have any advice so I don't mess up my abstract painting? The painting you're doing in this video is so inspirational. I keep trying to learn through your videos so thank you so much for posting.
I’m So happy to hear you say that it is almost impossible to recreate an intuitive painting! I have been beating myself up over this for a long time, thinking I should take notes or something! Lol. I’ve been practicing my version of impressionist painting, and I use photographs (usually my own) as references, but sometimes like you I use images in my head, sort of a conglomerate of sea and sky and grass and wind, and try to get it on the canvas at least a little how it looks in my head. Lately I’m all about landscapes. I think urban life is getting to me and I miss my country and water views from the last place I lived and am trying to add that in my art.

You touched on it briefly, but what is the recommendation for acrylics to get the drying time to remain open, to allow for more modifications ? Oil allows for this, what’s the strategy with acrylics to achieve that longevity a bit more? Thanks!
You could purchase golden paints (open) they have an extended drying time or you could had a retarder to the acrylics. The second option doesn't keep it workable for very long but enough to work it a bit longer then regular acrylics.
I can't show the completed finished painting until it's installed as my studio doesn't have 18 feet high walls. The project installation has been delayed several times because of covid. Fingers crossed that it's installed in the next few weeks.
