✦ Essential professions, such as teachers and doctors, have ridiculously low salaries in Russia. There's even a sad meme quote from the government representative regarding teachers' wages: "If you want to earn money, you should try a different profession. Become a businessman."
✦ Cyberclubs are public rooms with gaming computers, which are still popular to this day. People come there to play and host cybersport tournaments.
✦ Russian roads are notoriously bad. There's even a saying "There are two problems in Russia: goofs and roads."
✦ Nowadays university degrees have almost no value for employers and it's extremely hard to find a job without job experience (which you won't get because you don't have, ha!) That's how I was unable to get a desired job even after graduating from the most prestigious university in Russia with honors.
✦ We name work schedules after the number of busy and free days, with the most popular ones being the standard 5/2 (working from Monday to Friday aka the-five-days aka a 9-6 job in English) and 2/2 (aka the shift schedule). Personally I despise the 5/2 and consider it to be more stressful than the 2/2.
✦ Russian ramen (Doshirak) is a cheap and quick meal, which is usually consumed on the train, or when you don't want to cook, or when you are too poor to afford any better food. Therefore, it is strongly associated with students and laborers (in comparison, Korean ramen is much more expensive).
✦ One time during the International tournament there was a persistent user on Twitch who kept typing "Hey, Taganrog (a city in Russia), let's gather round and have a drink". Soon it became a meme.
✦ Qiwi used to be an online wallet, which many people used similarly to Paypal. The Central Russian Bank has recently taken away its licence without warning and people's money got trapped there. So, basically lots of people, including myself, have lost their money in an instant, because there is no way to retrieve it from the website.
✦ 12 tangos is a meme video about a Lifestealer, who bought 12 tangos from the start, which caused his friend to go mad ("Двенадцать танго")
✦ Egg prices have recently risen by ~45%.
✦ The Unified State Exam (ЕГЭ) is a bane of all schoolkids. It's a form of knowledge evaluation which has proven to be very streesful and ineffective, yet students still have to take it before they finish school.
