The angle and interpretation of American art forms seen through the eyes of those with a different experience is what makes our rich culture. She makes such poignant and beautiful music!
This is the style of music I grew up with up to about 10 years old. Lyrically, this is light years ahead of the stuff being played back then but musically this harkens back to what I heard and didn't appreciate when I was younger.
