I totally understand where these folks are coming from. My brother and I run a little tool & die / general machine shop here in SW Pennsylvania. Our grandpap and dad started the shop in around 1952 and we are continuing the tradition. We're not getting rich that's for sure but we love what we do and we're needed. Not many shops like ours left any more. We can fix just about anything except a broken heart so to say. God bless you guys.
I live just a few miles away from this little gem of a shop . They always very helpful and service with a smile and sadly like you say these shops are very few now 20 - 30 years ago the where 4 motorcycle shop in this area now just 2 left 😢 but thankfully these 2 shops are run by true enthusiastic people. Btw so nice to see someone from across the big pond commenting on this video.
@@ianpearce5745 Thank you so much for the kind reply. I'm so lucky that I worked for my dad, I never had a boss. He started me running an old South Bend lathe (there's a fun story behind that) when I was 11 years old. It's just how I grew up, I didn't know any different. To grow up with a machine shop in your basement is just a young mans dream. All the best to you sir, it's been a pleasure conversing with you. Best wishes to you my friend. Thanks again, Matt
How great to fall on this video! I had all my MOTs there from 1964 on to 1969 when went to Bristol Marine Electronics Dept. I remember the business well, and the two brothers. I bought a Velocette 350 MAC there in June 1966. £30. I cracked the back of the gearbox and Tom Chandler at Hesters Garage in Wood Street stripped and welded it. Ex motorcycle mechanic from Jefferies in Guildford, who was doing lawnmowers to earn more money! The brothers would cane the bike up the road just in their overalls, no helmets then, come back and write MOT. They said they could tell in 100 yards anything wrong with a bike. Now on bike number 806, and agree with that now. In Hereford now, but will drop past next time am up there.
I just stumbled on this film while browsing RUclips and was very impressed by both the genuine nature of the men of Normandy motorcycles and the excellent way this film was made and edited, truly heart warming. Regards from southern Ireland
This really got to me. I think it was towards the end when Peter and Jason talked about what the business meant to them. Such pride, and love, in their eyes. Beautiful film.
This business is fantastic.i have been using them for over 30 years. Peter and Jason and Peter’s Dad before are all such nice guys, welcoming and genuinely interested in what you are riding and what they can do to help. If you haven’t used them before, give them a try, there are decades of real experience under their roof. We must support our local businesses,it’s so important. Steve Blishen, customer
This great little film was realy pleasant surprise. Used to frequent the place regularly in the early seventies. They had a good reputation for being honest fair and friendly. Nice to see that still holds true all thes years later..
Peter Jason and briefly Brian !!! Brilliant. !! long may you prosper because you thoroughly deserve it, and you will because you may have ‘quaint’ premises but as you say no substitute for customer service at which you excel . Respect inshovel loads ! Sorry long way from Devon to get my MOTs , buy bits and and drink your tea and : priceless, your frank and very sound advice.
Yes its such a shame how many have closed,I remember in the 60s in Edmonton we had 4 ,some small some dealerships but alas no more. Great film, all the best to them for the future.
Small world. We drove past the shop this morning, while visiting family in Guildford. I noticed a nice looking air cooled Yamaha two stroke in the window.
Yes they’re still very much in business. I’ve known Jason and Pete for many years now and still take my bike to them. And they very kindly let me make this film of them @hound-dog-films
Superb quality film made by houndog films about 8 years ago, luckily the shop is still going , real old style shop. Don’t think houndog is though, pity as they made great videos .

Love these old bike shops, support them or they'll be just a memory!
Very professional and polished film. We expect nothing less from talented Alex. If you find a shop like this one, use it!
Alex didn’t make this film. We made this film at Hound Dog Films. He’s just reposted it from @hound-dog-films

Not many businesses left like that these days, do it because they love what they do!
Lovely, great that there are still a few businesses left like this with a soul. I noticed this was made some time ago, are they still in business?
Yes they’re still very much in business. I’ve known Jason and Pete for many years now and still take my bike to them. And they very kindly let me make this film of them @hound-dog-films
Great film of a disappearing way of life.
Long may they remain in business.
What bike shops should be❤️
Luv these old school bike shops, the new corporate dealerships leave me a bit cold
Bought my second bike, a BSA B40 at this shop in 1967. I would be interested to hear who would likely have sold it to me
