I agree with the others; I just purchased this Game and didn't really understand how to get started - you made it all very clear - Thank You SO much - really appreciated the video!
This game is so good for the price. It's simple, yet in depth. Might be one of the easiest to get into, hard to master deck-builder games for the money
Thx for posting this video. Being able to see the game closer than other Friday vids, was brilliant. I was able to get a better feel for the game. Hearing your options and logic was fun, because the puzzle is interesting. Silver lining: Not seeing the fight points on hazard cards made me pay attention to card skills and options! Glad you opened up the rulebook, good job, man. Getting rid of all the Weak and -1s up front is a good tip. (I haven’t opened the game yet.) Question: at 17:30, could you have paid one life to get rid of the 0-Weak card? (Kind regards, I hope you are well, I see that you haven’t posted videos for long time.)
Great video + a like. What I don't understand is why cards are put on the right side when drawn through paying a life point. What's the difference when a card lines up on the right? Is there something you can or cannot do?
One time you were trying to win a hazard like crazy with all of those 0 value cards being drawn. You kept paying life points to draw more and more cards. You finally won that hazard card but that meant you also kept all of those O value cards. This should've been where you chose to lose the fight early on and used those life points to lose all of those 0 value cards instead of extending the battle. Those weak cards must be destroyed early in the game in order to have only strong high value cards in your deck when you fight the pirates.
wait what?> you can use the destroy to destroy the aging card? plus you only needed 0 and you were at 0. Not sure why you lost? Also 1x Below is awesome because you can activate the cards in any order. You can activate a +1 Life card and then put it below the pile. You can draw four cards. overshoot by 2 and then put that 2 card below the pile so you don't age as fast.
+SuperWolfkin I've only played a handful of games, still learning, but yeah, I'm sure you can use destroy to get rid of ageing cards :) As for why did I lose...I was in yellow phase, so i needed more than 0 iirc (I'm watching F1 atm so can't check right now ;) ) Thanks for explaining the use of 'one below the pile', I understand that, but being a 0 and being able to destroy I figured 'why not?' ;) Thanks for your comments, I'll go back and look in more detail when I get a chance :)
+SuperWolfkin I am not a great teacher (though I am going to work on that), there are other videos out there for full rules, etc. Currently we focus on how games play out, uncut, in the real world in real time. I'm glad you enjoyed it anyway though :)
Yup, you're probably right, I didn't have many plays under my belt when I filmed this and it's distracting having to manage shooting solo too, my apologies for that so there are some mistakes and sub-optimal choices made :) It's getting better with time and experience though :)
At 16:33 he played card "books" (phase -1). So after using this ability the power of "wild animals" decreased to 4. That's why he only got 4 fight points.
This game is very hard to win ... in fact I never have. I wish it was a bit more balanced in difficulty. I haven't seen a Friday You Tube video yet where there was a win. Is it even possible to win or is the point to continually improve your score?
I have read people reporting that they've won, but it's often after like 20 plays or something. It seems to be a hard game....until you 'crack' it, then your odds get better :)
+steveoliverc For me, it's not amazing, but it's better than 'just ok' :) In an ideal world I like big heavy, involved games with lots of options - but I still enjoy playing this, there are plenty of meaningful decisions to be made and I've not beaten it yet :) If pushed to give it a score, I think I would go for 7/10
+BoardGamingAtHome I agree completely. It's very challenging (it took me at least 5 or 6 games to get to the pirates, then 1 or 2 more to beat them). I love that it's a solo-only game. My only drawback is that after about 10 plays, it's really starting to feel the same despite the card variety.
+steveoliverc Now presumably you've found one strategy that works do you stick with it or do you experiment and see what else works? I wonder if that might be part of why you find it feeling samey?
+BoardGamingAtHome I've tried different strategies but only one that works. As compared to other solo games I've played recently such as Flip City and Suburbia, where I can pursue several different strategies and still sometimes win. I'm definitely not saying there isn't some strategy I've missed in Friday, but after 10-ish plays I don't find myself drawn back to play it to find out. BTW if you've played a bunch of solo games it would be great to see a top 10 list or just comparing solo games you've played and liked.
I've not played loads solo, I've tried a few solo variants of big games with little success (see my blog post on our website for more info)...friday is the first dedicated solo game I've played - with better success than others so far, but I'm not sure how much more I'll play it as I find that what I enjoy most in gaming is the interaction with people.

Have seen this played through a few places and your explanation is great and best done. Great job. TY
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Just bought this today, and slowly figuring it out. Your video will help a lot for the next play through. Thanks for posting.
Nice walkthrough. Makes it easier for me to start off the game now.

How on earth does one accumulate so many points to beat two pirates that require ludicrous points ?More solo games, please.Thank you again.
Best explanation of how to play the game.
Greetings from the UK.
I wouldn't go that far, but I do my best, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Thanks for doing this play through! I just did the same thing on my channel and I can say you're a better player than I.
+Plumpy Thimble I'll have to check your video out :)...I didn't do that well though, so I can't be much better than you ;)

oh yes yellow phase. My mistake. Anyway while slightly skimpy on the rules explanation it was a brilliantly fun to watch gameplay. Cheers.

8:35 you forgot to take the +2 life!
At 8:37, you probably should have taken the 2 life points.
Doh! Yup, you're right, I should have...well caught :)
At 17:26 it was supposed to be 7 coz you're already in yellow phase. You only got 4 fight points and you needed 3 more.

Nice review
It looks fun
+Charn Kinn Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Sorry, forgot to ask : if you beat one pirate do you add that card to your deck ?
Thanks again.
I don't believe so, I don't have the game to hand to check, but I don't think they're normal cards with any use to the player.

buy two games and mix better cards in it LOL
Never thought of that ... might just take your suggestion. Haha!
all videos so far say fun little game, but I hav no idea how to win - on easy fcol
buy 3
Thanks for the playthrough. So you like the game a lot? or it's just OK?

What the heck does, "With the raft to the wreck" mean?!? Is that bad English?
I cannot win this game for the life of me.
Rubish
What is? The video? The game? Your spelling? ;)
