      @@MarvelX42 From a filmmaker/commercial production background, research shows that a calm quiet environment is less inclined to cause people to perk up and take notice. Action grabs attention, and in this case, he is communicating by both precept and example....which delivers his message on more than one level. Plus, people would be wary of such advice coming from an out of shape individual. Thus his shirtless presentation gives evidence to him having put into practice what he is preaching. He is visually providing a "goal" while explaining how to achieve it.

    As a psychology student... Damn it's so frustrating to look at all these "small talk psychology", both from people who don't know what they are talking about and from people that actually think they've studied it a lot.
    For example, I hate these TikToks, and I hate all those "I'll teach you to detect lies like a human scanner" people who've read Paul Ekman's book ONCE taking it as TRUEST SCIENCE POSSIBLE. Mostly micro-expressions just show how much anxious or nervous you are when talking with people, not straight up wether you are lying or not, what the fuck... And I fucking hate all those Andrew Tate's clones.

    Appreciate your willingness to even deal with this, Georgia. The very fact that random people, most likely with no psychological degrees or knowledge at all, just sell their subjective opinions as psychological “facts” on social media is worrying. Besides, your reactions to some of these are golden. 😂

    One of the issues I have with Jayus and that whole brand of pop psychology content is that it promotes manipulative behavior. It isn't presenting the information as for the development of social skills, how to be more attentive and engaging with other people, etc., but how to appear more attentive and engaging to elicit a desired response in another person.

    i saw this psychology "fact" tiktok once that made me really sad and angry and worried. sadly cant find it for a link, but it was whis very confident guy telling that mentally ill people like depressed people should not date other people because they will hurt their partners cheat on them and so on. What made me so mad about it was that he was charismatic and so confident in saying clearly false things that i was worried that someone alone and depressed like I am would belive him and think they dont deserve love

    0:28 - 0:36 Well,this is accurate *for me personally* ;-3 but I'm not sure that's the case _in general..._
    1:19 - 1:27 For me personally this is a bit of contradiction because 1)if I dislike you _with passion_ I don't think I'll be able to _ignore_ you...I can't"ignore someone with passion"what does that even mean??😅And 2)it depends...it happened to me to dislike some people with burning passion initially and then changing my mind and starting to like them or even getting a crush on them and about the opposite,if I like you and you hurt me it's more likely that I will remain hurt rather than starting to _hate_ you and/or _ignore_ you.💔
    1:54 - 1:59 Nah. I'm an awful friend. _I wish_ I was good,but I just think of my own buisness the whole day all days and even when I _do_ think of some of my friends and I wanna call them and stuff I usually procrastinate till I don't do it anymore.
    3:17 - 3:23 I agree. Years ago I started to make a list of all the fictional characters that I consider soulmates and several couples _were_ platonic relationships/friendships.💞💕
    4:19 - 4:28 Only if you *LIKE* your own name. Not going too deep into why,but there's been a long period of my life in which I used to hear people saying they would get offended if someone called them:"Hey!"when they didn't remember their name and I was thinking:"I would _PREFER_ to be called"Hey"rather than with a name I *hate* this much!X-((( I *WISH* people just called me Hey!"

    Only take I don't agree with is the one about the "grindset" mentality at the end. World wide we have the access to enough resources so that increasing your station in life should be a desire, not a necessity. We throw away enough food to end world hunger, we have enough homes to house the homeless, we have come far enough in technology that we could get rid of some of the more mundane jobs and allow people to just exist. We should be fighting for that instead of telling people to overwork themselves for the current system in place to make a small percentage of what the population with insane wealth have and that they and their future lineage could never spend. The "grindset" should be focused on making yourself a better person instead of getting yourself to point of money where you no longer have to work to survive. And almost everyone trying to push the grindset mentality is trying to profit from it. They're usually called Grifters.
    That said, I love your content, and I just think the clip you used felt very Grifter-like but your points around it are still great for people, if we're using them for self improvement instead off financial gain.

    • @classicslover
      @classicslover Год назад

      I think he WAS talking about making yourself a better person. And Georgia was too. Resilience is required for that. You can't truly improve spiritually, mentally, emotionally or physically without it. How hard can you figuratively or in actuality "get hit" or experience massive setbacks, and get up and keep moving forward. As for helping others? There is the parable of the Good Samaritan, who nobody would have remembered if he didn't have the "tool" of money to be able help out. So...I do believe this is not about grindset mentality as you have described it.

The other time was a car from the nineties. The first was dealing with a broken tail pipe/muffler and I wanted to snap it completely off so it would stop dragging.Twisted the tailpipe off to the side, got underneath it and shoved up. What? I hate hearing my name. Means someone is speaking directly to me. Means they actually know who I am. Means they want something. I was minding my own business thinking my own thoughts and now I'll have to take time and focus with someone watching me and try to process what they want and attempt to respond appropriately without becoming entangled in whatever social snare they have in mind... What if they say, "How are you?" When they don't REALLY want to know? Where do I go with this? Or worse, they have a specific topic to speak about and they honestly expect me to be able to answer accurately in real time. Sorry, I need time to think about what you said. Text me and we''ll be in business.
    Of course, as long as I can form a sentence, no one will believe it's that hard to form the right sentence. I'm tired of explaining so just stop saying my name. I don't have the energy for your little nonverbal head games.
