      Both the Swatstika and Suawastika are historically peaceful and well intended
      Hitler didn't just take the Swastika, the Nazi Ideaology basically adopted the idea of an "Aryan Race" (Which doesnt even exist), and the Aryan culture used Swastikas, which is why the Nazi Ideology used it.

    That's interesting that this ancient martial art is called Angampora. "Angam" means body in Tamil and "Por" means War or fight so essentially "body fight"

    • @DarshaniSK
      @DarshaniSK 3 года назад

      what is the meaning of "Anga" in tamil?

    • @CN-vv6wm
      @CN-vv6wm 3 года назад

      @@DarshaniSK "Angam" means "body" in Tamil. "Por" means" war" in Tamil so putting the words together would translate to physical combat. The only part that doesn't make sense is the "a" at the end of the word. In Tamil if you add an "-a" at the end then its a question. Ex: "hand-a?" would mean "is it a hand?" "Car-a?" would mean "is that a car?"

    • @CN-vv6wm
      @CN-vv6wm 2 года назад

      @ICHIGO That' s interesting! Seems to me like a lot of Sinhalese words are Tamil loanwords + "a"....which makes sense! If you add "a" after a word in the Tamil language it translates to "is that right/correct?" Ex. bus-a (is that a bus?) car-a (is that a car?)

    • @CN-vv6wm
      @CN-vv6wm 2 года назад

      @ICHIGO loanwords means there was originally no word for it so it was borrowed from another language and incorporated into the language. Yes, Sinhala has loanwords from Tamil, Sanskrit, Portuguese and Dhivehi. It's not about origin. That's hilarious! That's like saying Sinhala has so many Portuguese words so Sinhala originates from Portugal. *LOL!*

    • @alexarul3124
      @alexarul3124 2 года назад

      Wrong.
      Ankam in Tamil is "limb" or "part"
      E.g. "Divide into 5 parts" would be "5 angamaka pirithu eddungal"
      Pora, I believe, is similar in meaning to "Poruthal" or "dislocate"
      So it's dislocation of the limbs .. or disarming the weapons.
      Por is war - but I don't believe that is the case here. This Buddhist and spritual martial art is about defense than fighting or glorifying war - I believe it's about quickly and efficiently suppressing the aggressor and restoring peace - even to the aggressor.

    • @greensynchronize3721
      @greensynchronize3721 8 лет назад +18

      +Solomon Sunder "Kalaripayattu" originated in 1362 AD or relevantly 300 BC onwards introduced by the "Ezhavas" in "Kerala". "Angampora" was an ancient art which was practiced by the primitive "Siv Hela" "The Four Primitives" "Yaksha, Raksha, Naga and Deva" Suriyawanshika (Sun Dynasty Blood tribes) more over 50, 000 years ago (could be even more ancient) in the island which they are ultimately knows as the "Sinhala" generations King Ravana (2554 - 2537 BC) himself was a grand master which also signify how ancient this war art is initially trees and rocks were worshiped spiritually an later on empowered with the arrival of Buddhism. Clearly Angampora pre-date Egyptian martial arts which are considered among the mural paintings between 3000 - 2500 BCE in Egypt; sadly most westerners doesn't even know about the Hela existence or Angampora or even where Sri Lanka is in the world map.... Angampora is actually the worlds ancient martial art... while the British killed many grand masters in the colonial period an was banned to practice.

    • @SolomonSunder

    • @tellurianamystic9424
      @tellurianamystic9424 8 лет назад +1

      But that is a legend, and only one of a few others. Kalaripayyatu also has legends placing the art in antiquity or even created by Purusha. How do we know? It has also been said that Angampora has influence from Indian arts. Could it be? How do we know? What we do know is these are very old arts and while similar, are still unique to the cultures practicing them.

    • @SolomonSunder
      @SolomonSunder 8 лет назад +7

      Apparently the Persians, Greeks and everyone learnt warfare only from the Sinhalas according to your pet theory. You don't even understand that Sikhism came around only in the 15th Century.
      There is no need for a debate here since you clearly have no idea about the origin of terms like Sindh, Hind, Hindustan, Indus, Farsi, Parsi or the relationship between Avestan, Sanskrit.
      Heck, you even disregard that Buddha was born in present day Nepal and got enlightenment in Bihar by your 'no influence' term when Sinhalese are the main practitioners of Buddhism in the subcontinent.
      None of us here denied that the art could've originated in Sri Lanka. The only divergence is your insistence that the art originated in Sri Lanka and that any other possibility is a blasphemy. Doesn't sound too different from the neo Nazi claims that Jesus was White and is an European God while he was clearly a Jew born in the Middle East according to their own texts.

    • @SolomonSunder
      @SolomonSunder 8 лет назад +1

      Nope.. we learnt a lot about warfare from the Persians and I am not ashamed to say that. There is a reason the Vedic texts call the Asuras (primarily Persians) as mighty in warfare. Neither do I disregard the Greek influence. A lot of people in Western parts of India do look European as well.
      I never said it couldn't have originated in Sri Lanka. But the conversation does show the small pond mentality of a couple of Sinhala chauvinists like you. No wonder external powers still play games on your lands.
