One of the Coolest Geodes I've Ever Cracked Open!

- The geode that you see here is a Las Trancas geode and these are from the Chihuahua state of Mexico. These particular geodes began their journey as a vesicle which is a bubble that formed in lava as it was cooling that never quite made it to the surface. Over time water from hydrothermal activity lined the cavity with crystals. These particular types of geodes will typically have blue chalcedony and clear quartz inside of them but every so often you'll see awesome little stalactitic growths inside! Either way this geode was a treat to crack open!

The audacity of this Las Trancas geode (which are now restocked) to be so, so, GOOD! Wait till you see the end!
Look at all those spikey crystals! And it glowwwwzzzzzz🤩
This one just blew me away. I can't even contain myself.
@@mooneyfinemineralshould not be contained! 💜💜💜💜
Your joy is contagious! Thanks for sharing!
Any time! Thanks for watching!
Do I spot a dual cavity in there? Also, just because it's so awesome you're required by law to give it to me. XD
Unfortunately you'll have to man-fight the new owner 😅😂
@@mooneyfinemineralim down 😏😏 I've fallen in love with that geode 😅😅😅
Rock paper scissors it is!@@mooneyfinemineral
Love how you talk to the rocks, it’s so cute!
Haha I usually get told "weird" but I'll take cute 😅.
Damn, is this satisfying. That sound alone lets you know something different and special is on the way.
❤❤❤
It’s a double geode! So gorgeous!
And so delicate!!! :D
Absolutely! Like a winter crystal palace!❄️
It’s so pretty
Indeed! I love how delicate it is!

That is a beautiful geode OMG (forbidden ice...)
The most forbidden!!!
Hey I have committed on one of your other videos asking if you have any adamite. And you said that you would look in the morning. I was wondering if you found any?? And awesome geode!!! It is amazing!! I love you videos so much ❤❤
Hello! Glad you love the videos and I responded to your last request! I was confused, I have atacamite, not adamite. I was misremembering. Sorry!
@@mooneyfinemineral ohhhh ok. I am sorry I did not see your response. But thank you!!
That geode is so amazing!
Hands down one of the best lately.
Awesome geode!
It really is!
Wow! You definitely ended up with a unique find!
It's a really cool one!
WOW. One of my favorites you’ve opened for sure.
😄😄😄
i have an irrational fear of cracking open a geode and a bunch of spiders coming out 😅
Why would you SAY THAT?! 🤣🙃
@@mooneyfinemineral don't worry, the geode spiders aren't real! they can't hurt you 🥴
@@sleepyfoxyYT YOU SAY THAT NOW
Damn, that's a thicc geode
You ain't wrong.
Deaf people: 😃
Blind people: 🤨
🤔😆
Beautiful geode bro. Kinda looks like it is mooning at you with the way the ridge runs down the middle.
Thanks I can't unsee that 😂.
You’re welcome bro!
Prehistoric lootboxes
😂😊
That reaction 🤩got me going too😁👌
Ayyyyyyy!
Absolutely GORGEOUS. I Love the little finger like calcite!🩵🩵🩵
Those are actually chalcedony coated quartz 😳. Which you wouldn't guess at first glance for sure!
@@mooneyfinemineral My bad!
@@user-kk5vv2ks5r No worries! They look like calcites at first glance 😆. Mistakes happen! I mistake stuff all the time and I live this.
Beautiful.
Cheers :D
Jesus!!! You weren't kidding!!!! That is absolutely S T U N N I N G❤❤❤❤
It really is 😁
Can you explain what this means?
Pls we need explanation
This particular geode is just superb. The crystals inside of it are not so much singular crystal points as they are stalactitic chalcedony growing over quartz points. This type can have really neat structures in it but this one was particularly exciting. Also it was highly fluorescent under an ultraviolet light, which is why it turned green at the end. This one was just a whole lot of fun.
It looks frosty 😍
Yes! That's the description!
Love the video and the excitement!
I recently found one that is approximately 5 to 8 lbs and would like to know what the best way to cut or open it would be.
5-8 lbs? That large you could find a large pipe cutter but I'd contact a gem and mineral club and see if anybody has a big saw and a vibrolap to polish the halves.
@@mooneyfinemineral thank you for the suggestions! I subscribed and joined the discord. Hope to share my findings soon!
Every time someone breaks open a rock instead of cutting it, an angel loses its wings 😭
Brb. Gonna crack some more.
Saws are cool, I like using them, but I don't have time to do that for each and every customer...and frankly the snobbier people get about it the more aggressive I get about cracking them instead. So I apologize for my reactions and pigheadedness 😂.
@@mooneyfinemineral when you fracture a rock you destroy things inside of the stone. Small, clear, white thunder eggs are meant to be broken open for sure. But when you explain the value possibilities of a cut stone to a snobby person, they might see things your way. Most snobby people I know enjoy high quality gems with fine finishes and value. Help teach them the differences!
@@EllensburgBlueSociety I appreciate what you're saying but I don't agree with the premise. I don't agree that what I am doing is as destructive as what you say. Are you going to pay for my time? When I spend way too long sawing open a geode and then polishing it for a child? At which point the parent can't afford it? Is that you? Are you paying for it. I like doing both, but this set up like it is for a variety of reasons. My time has value, your time has value, the customers that want this done...their time has value, too 😁. So thank you for your's, and your opinion.
So excited to see someone else get so excited about "rocks" 😉
ROCKS!
"That wasn't so much of a pop as it was..." A fizzle?
It was just ready to be open 😆.
@@mooneyfinemineral I can get behind that. 😉
Why does it shine with the UV light? What makes it do that? Does the calcite take in energy from the uv
I've had several videos explaining this but the short version is: SOMETIMES electrons in some molecules can reach an excited state, speed up, and give off a visible light when exposed to certain wavelengths of light. That is what is happening in the chalcedony in this geode.
Wow
:D
Bro trying to turn the plants in the back into fossil
Maybe it'll work 🤷.
awesome
Cheers
💜💜💜💜💜
❤❤❤❤❤
Wow that is beautiful! The spikes are incredible, thin and abundant, glittering.
What light did you shine on it? I want to try that with my geode (not sure if it would have the same effect)
Hey! So that's a 365nm ultraviolet light.
@@mooneyfinemineral Thanks! :)
@@roxiethecockapoo1138 any time!
and prices
Prices? That was a 4ish inch geode and I sell them for $45. But I have smaller and cheaper sizes as well.
Where can I get one?

Ok but let us know how does it taste
I can't 😭. It's already on it's way to it's owner!!!!
Sick
Right?!
What Is its worth?
I sold it for it 45.00.
Looks like balls…
