    Hi, back again ! could you please explain how to enable the PMV or the comfort contour in the Microflo viewer. I see that as one of the options but don't quite get what exactly controls it. Thanks once again.

      Hi. I’ve never used that variable in the MicroFlo viewer, but I’d imagine it works like temperature and air velocity. Probably the thing to watch for is the range in values being displayed: what’s the scale for PMV, does it run off a -3 to +3 index? It’s been a long time since I looked at it, but from memory, the ideal is a PMV of zero, so when displaying that variable in MicroFlo, keep that in mind. I’d start with a display range of -3 to +3 and see how it looks. If it’s not giving you a clear and high resolution picture of what’s going on, try displaying -2 to +2 and just keep experimenting with the display range until you’re happy with the output image.

    Thank you for the video! But I was wondering if it is possible to change the "key bar" smaller? For example, I want it only to show the velocity value for red and blue colour under the picture. In slice display settings there are ticks before every colour and I tried unchecked them but the scale bar does not change and still shows all the colours.

      ***** I've had a quick look at that over lunch. When you are unchecking the colours in the display settings, these are the colours for "velocity contours". If you uncheck all but blue and red, then the slice will only show blue and red, but only if you have "velocity contour" as the display type. If you are using "Filled Velocity Contour" (like in my video), then the full range of colours still get displayed in the slice. The scale bar still shows the full range of colours, and I haven't seen a way to change that in the 10 minutes that I've had to play around with it.
      TLDR: you can display only 2 colours in the "slice" if you use the "velocity contour" display option and uncheck the colours you do not need, but I cannot see a way to only show 2 colours on the scale bar. To the best of my knowledge, the key bar below the slice will always split the display range results into the 12 colours, even if the slice itself is only showing 2.

    Hi, excellent video, can you show how to use macroflow? thanks.

    • @CADandStuff

      I have a video on how to set up opening types already. That’s macroflo, essentially. Set up the window and opening profiles in macroflo, then make sure to tick that box when running the apache sim.

      @@CADandStuff yes, but I was trying to import it for external analysis. Assuming that the steps would be similar. Realised that the external analysis results appear only when the boundary conditions are imported for internal analysis. Anyway thanks!

    Please how do I go about solving the problem of unbalance in-flow and out-flow in Microflo simulation

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  8 лет назад +1

      +Nimlyat Pontip Stephen I have only seen this happen for a couple of reasons, although there may be more. 1. There is a gap somewhere in your model (in other words, rooms which you thought were joined, are not.) To check this, go back into ModelIT and have a good look. 2. There is one or more very large openings in your model. If this is the case, it may be that you have over-designed the opening sizes. A natural "gut feeling" when designing openings is to have a "more is better" approach. In actual fact, having too many (or too large) openings can be counter-productive. I do not have access to your model, so I cannot say for sure why it is happening in your case. I suggest (if you have time), have another think about the size and number of openings and go back into Macroflo to reduce the numbers and/or sizes of openings. Try that as a first step, and see how you get on. You may find the best way to do this is to select all the openings and set them to "closed", then one by one open the windows and see if the error message appears. Let me know how this works out for you.

      This really work out but I am facing another challenge with running the CFD. I got an error message :
      Memory allocation error
      Out of memory
      Recommended to reduced mesh size.
      Please how do I go about solving this issue. Thanks

    • @CADandStuff

      +Nimlyat Pontip Stephen usually the default mesh sizes are okay, but you can make a larger mesh if you want. Are you definitely trying to make an internal mesh? Sometimes the mesh is external and that can make it large. Does your computer have sufficient RAM? Have you tried saving the project under a different name, then fully closing down the software and opening the newly saved file instead of the original one? Sometimes that gets rid of the grid error. Give that a go.

      +CAD and Stuff My computer has a RAM of 16GB. I tried saving and opening the file as suggested above but still get the same error messages as shown below:
      GRID
      Number of X cells: 276
      Number of Y cells: 320
      Number of Z cells: 81
      Total number of cells: 7,153,920

      Physical memory available: 4,194,303
      virtual memory available: 4,194,303
      Aspect ratio:
      MCAR: 46:1
      When I clicked on Ok, it gave me the following error messages;
      Memory error: Out of memory
      Suggestion: reduce mesh size and re-run simulation
      Recommended mesh sizes: 3 - 3.5 million cells for quad cor, or approx. 6 - 7 million cells for dual-core PCs
      Insufficient memory for grid
      surface/component boundaries do not align with the grid. You may need to re-generate the grid.
      The above were the error messages I received. My computer is CORE -i7.
      The total cells for my model is about 7.2 million while it s suggesting between 3 - 3.5 million cells for Quad-core PC.
      Do I have to run the model on a DUAL-CORE PC or there is a way to go about this?

    Can you explain to me that how to solve the problem if it says unbalanced flow in the the run simulation in cfd microflo

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  5 лет назад

      Most likely this is due to having too many, or too large openings. Try setting all the openings to 'closed' and run the CFD.....if it runs then gradually open the vents/windows until you get to the optimum condition.

    • @CADandStuff
      @CADandStuff  5 лет назад

      Yes. Close everything apart from internal openings, and see if it runs. How are you venting the stack to outdoors? You will have to export/import new boundary conditions to microflo after you've closed everything, before running the CFD

      @@CADandStuff I've modelled a window in the stack facing outside

    • @CADandStuff

      Okay, good. See if it runs with everything closed, and if it does, then gradually open the vents until you get what you want. I have found in the past that IES and CFD behaves unexpectedly if there are too many openings. And in most cases, you end up needing fewer than you might have originally thought.

      +AA B hi. In my example, the openings on the west (left side in plan view) are windows. The openings between the rooms and the stack are holes. The opening at the top of the stack is modelled as a window. In IESVE, you cannot model a hole on the outside of the building, so any openings to the outside in my model are windows.
