Always loved this show. One thing that was cool about this show. It taking place in Canada was actually story relevant cause the biggest mall in the world is in Canada and that's where the show takes place. The biggest mall in the world.
I loved 6Teen and made me excited to be that age. The reality wasn't the same but it was still a great show and I watched it recently for nostalgia. You should take about the movie they did, the one with the zombies. I also liked that Nikki wasn't a stereotypical Asian for the time.
this show had such a choke hold on me when i was younger. i never missed an episode. i got my older siblings hooked on it. the theme song still plays in my head constantly. this show made me who i am today and gave me such high expectations for 16.
i started rewatching this a few months ago, and i can’t believe how much i love it, i know a lot of that love comes from nostalgia but as unbiased as i can be, i genuinely think it is a good show that despite being rather dated, holds up well. as a canadian kid growing up watching tv i can remember that this show was the first time i saw anyone /actually/ talk about having periods, and the first time i’d ever see i’d ever seen a lesbian character in anything. And as a queer period-having human, it was really wonderful actually seeing that. 💖🌻 thankyou for talking about the this show! i find that it’s quite under rated, especially, as you said, due to the banned episodes and that a /proper/ reboot would be awesome! 🖖🏻🦋💕
Not only do I remember this show, I watch it regularly when I have a bad day. This show is F.R.I.E.N.D.S for teenagers that's exactly what it is. It's a bunch of friends getting into slice of life bullshit that most young adults deal with not just teens and I'm still convinced that if allowed they'd have made them 20 if 16 wasn't a catchier title. Jude and Star (the hippie chic) are like two sides of my personality. I love this show so much I have the entire first episode Take This Job And Stick It memorized line by line. I also would like to say this show was great for my bi awakening. Jude, Wyatt, Nicki, and Jen were all characters I had a crush on as a kid.
I don't remember a lot of the show honestly (CN started airing it around the time I was starting to watch less TV), but what little I do I really appreciate. It's cool. I also blame shows like this, Bratz, and Totally Spies for my fascination with malls. I just want to hang out in one so bad like an early-mid 00's mall rat.
As a Canadian, thank you!! This show was my favorite, although I wasn't technically allowed to watch because I was a bit too young at the time. I learned a lot from it though! I still watch the halloween special every year. Canadian kids TV was truly something else, and I'm grateful for it.
Did anybody watch this in elementary school and hoped HS was gonna be like that? And got disappointed that malls aren't really that great of a hangout place? Lmao
Despite malls becoming obsolete, where I live they still work and is my favorite place to hang out with my brother. And we both loved 6Teen as kids. Teletoon in French was our favorite TV channel. Anyone remembers the Zimmer Twins?
I always loved this art style. I was in my early 20s when this aired but I still liked it. I appreciate cartoons even more as an adult. I didn't even know that it had banned episodes, I-m gonna look it up and watch the whole thing. Thank you for reminding me of this one
6teen was my favorite CN cartoon after Total Drama and it stuck with me for so long. The crew. The theme. The mall. The side characters. All of it. Love the show to death and so glad to see it covered. A lot of episodes are on RUclips
I really love 6teen! i remember watching it all the time when i was younger and it still sticks with me today. Especially as a Canadian Millennial, this show really hit home for me in a lot of ways. Id really love to see an adult revival of this show, seeing how theyve grown as people and such.
This show made me dream as a child, i remember clearly my parents saying how ridiculous and how impossible it was for them to only be 16 but damn, i've watched this show religiously back in the days and still listen to the banging theme with joy and nostalgia to this very day!! I'd definitely love to see this get a revival as long as there are no strings attached it stays just a fun little show with crazy antics
I specifically remember the episode where Jude tries to auction a date with himself off to the highest bidder, and the only two people left bidding are the nerd girl from the taco stand and the beefcake bear of a cowboy lol
Man, I wish I would've watched this more as a kid, however i was pretty young at that time still, around 13 when it ended, so that was the biggest reason. It seems like a show I would enjoy now though, I'll have to give this one a watch forsure. Thanks for another grand video Jordan, you rock dude
God I love love LOVE this channel so much! Constantly being reminded of tons of shows I LOVED as a kid/teenage and would have never remembered without this channel and amaxing person behind it. Much love!
I loved this show! I honestly would watch this show when I was a kid and hoped being 16 would be like this haha. I also loved hanging out at the mall with my friends when I was a teen too, it was even cooler when I started working at the mall too! Then again in Michigan there isn’t much to do except hang out at the mall and eat food haha
This show made me want to be 16 😂 and when I got there we’ll let’s just say it wasn’t that great, what I can say is the show is accurate to a lot of people I’ve met or seen in school. Even now a year after graduating I see people like this I kinda miss shows like this you don’t get many especially now.
Exactly... I thought 16 was a milestone... An age that you will be very beautiful and cool, have money, less classes or assignments, have cool friends and everything will be perfect.... Oh the horror when I reach that age

Dude this is one of my favorite TV Shows of all time. I watch these episodes on RUclips - I think the channel is called Retro recap. I have good memories with this show and I loved the representations in the show. A Mexican Canadian, Chinese Canadian, African Canadian and Jewish Canadian. Sure some jokes didn't age well, but I don't mind because as the show was not made for this time as it worked for its time anyways Jude was my favourite character and Ron the Rent-a-Cop was my favourite supporting character 🥰🥰🥰🥰...Love Love Love
It’s funny, because mall culture is still well alive in my part of Canada. Where I live is below freezing winter and extreme weather most of the year so malls are quite necessary places. Though I’m an adult now, I see lots of mall goth and generally mall rat teens hanging out after school.
I really love this show. I come back to watch it time to time. This show was so different and I thought by the time I was 6teen I would have a friend group like this and hangout in the mall. Sometimes I think I watch the banned episodes when it was on Cartoon Network. Also if you want to watch you can watch on RUclips on retro replay, Tubi, some episodes stream on Pluto tv also.
Jordan at this rate they should hire you as an advocate for certain shows and how they could be revived on Adult networks. You fully understand both the economic and overall benefit of the revivals that and I agree about hot topic
I’m 25 and I just discovered this show. Can’t believe I’ve never seen it before. I’m halfway through binging the whole thing! It’s actually one of my favourite shows now.
I had no idea mall closers was a big thing. There is only one I know of near me and I love going there. Mostly because it's the only place I can find niche things I'm into. It's not very big compared to other malls but it's always a good time when I go out with friends.
Japan and Canada are more laid back with TV shows containing, what the puritans in the US consider 'sinful'. Several episodes of Sailor Moon were never aired or heavily edited when released in the US for similar reasons. Good thing the Sistine Chapel is in Italy, or it would be censored too.
i just rewatched this recently and it was even better than i remembered. but upon binging it, they did wyatt so dirty. yes he was in every episode and had at least a few lines but he was barely apart of 85% of the entire series. it was in the beginning of the episode then the end in most episodes. jude was barely apart of all the shenanigans the other 4 characters were in but he always had his own spotlight b or c story every episode. they could have played more with wyatt's music but didn't or his failure with girls like they did with jen and her failure with boys but didn't and etc. but other than that it was chefs kiss.
As a Canadian, I remember watched a lot of reruns of this show growing up, including a lot of the American banned episodes. It's a pretty fun series like the early Total Drama stuff. Having said that, I don't think that a 6Teen reboot would work very well as is. Unlike something like Total Drama where the idea is pretty timeless, the concept of 6Teen centres around the North American mall and paints it as a fun hangout spot, and those, like you mentioned, are dying out. So if they targeted a series like that at modern teenagers, I doubt they would be able to connect with it nearly as much on a fundamental level. The only way I can see it work is if they aged up the characters to be at least in their mid 20s and tackled things like the changing social landscape where it's targeted at an audience that grew up with that show. The Galra Mall is based on the West Ed, which is still around, albeit lacking some of the amenities it did even back in the 2010s, so there could be plenty of stories based around that.
These shows were the shit when I was younger. From 6teen, Stoked, the Total Drama series, Detentionaire and far more. Teletoon, up here in Canada produced some of the best animated shows of the past few decades. Funny, memorable characters, unique animations styles and much more. In 6teen’s case, one of its most memorable aspects was its theme song. All rise: Life begins after school. That’s when we bend all the rules. Time to hang with all my friends…in a PLACE WHERE WE BELONG!
I love how each every episode was only in a mall but in different locations and it had a few scenes that weren't in the mall. They were creative for each episode.
I’m so glad you covered this show and stamped it a top 5 show for you. It’s been cemented in that spot for me too for years and I have yet to find anyone to take a chance on it in adulthood that didn’t grow up with it. It’s fantastic and has so many relatable episodes, even still to this day.
Thankfully the mall where I live is doing really well. Even the arcade they put there seems to be jammed packed. Round1 is great. Has arcade games from Japan still in Japanese for people to play as well as bowling, karaoke, and a bar.
Personally I think it would be cool if the main 6 teens were to be a part of the contestants of the new Total Drama season, or at least bring back our boy Jude since he was already introduced back in Total Dramarama
According to some of my economics and business professors-- I'm a senior at uni studying management and macroeconomics-- malls are actually making a comeback in mid-sized urban centers. Something about the 'experience' and having a location simply to hang out more than actual large scale shopping.
I remember this show and a surfer show that gave me very similar vibes, I really enjoyed them as a kid but can hardly remember much about them for the life of me. It would be nice for a lot of shows to appear on modern streaming services. A good example on my personal end is another slice of life show from my childhood "Kirby Right Back at Ya". Nintendo strikes it off RUclips, but doesn't stream it anywhere or do have discs or anything to which I can find (except a cite probably illegally doing it that my phone literally had to tell me "this cite is sus as hell man, get out of here before you get hacked!" after I got a hentai ad). It's basically a lost show they are trying to kill off for no real reason.
A year ago during quarantine, I began watching 6teen for the first time on this RUclips channel called “Retro Rerun”, and I’ve fallen in love with the show ever since ❤️📺
Okay wait I totally forgot the name of this show but I remembered these characters of 6teen! I’m glad I grew up with some of these shows instead of what’s out now. Kinda forgot about Total Drama for a while though tbh. Great video! ✌🏻
I have this very specific memory about this show playing in the background theme song and all, while I was sitting across the bedroom near my closet, probably playing with Barbies or something as an 8-9 year old. I don't recall it being on Nickelodeon personally, but looking into it further I guess it moved to Cartoon Network in 2008, which would be when and where I saw it. I had no idea it had so many censored episodes in the US airings though, but it's to be expected. Decent show.
This show had such longevity for me because I remembered growing up watching it on Nickelodeon, only to be ecstatic when it found life again over on Cartoon Network years later, alongside Total Drama and Stoked. Hell, I’m ready to go rewatch it all the way through off this video alone. I would love to see a more adult oriented revival of the series. 8teen would definitely make for some relatable “road to adulthood” storylines and scenarios.
Thanks so much for watching! Were you a fan of 6teen or Total Drama Island more? thankyou for talking about the this show! i find that it’s quite under rated, especially, as you said, due to the banned episodes and that a /proper/ reboot would be awesome!
Me too man me too
As a Canadian, thank you!!
Lmao
In high school I had a lot of anxiety but I’d just binge watch 6teen on RUclips and it would all feel better! Love this show!
Now this is unlocking core memories. I friggin loved this show when I was a tween. Awesome vid my guy!!🙌🏾👏🏾✨
Man. The last line of the theme song hits real different now.
I love 6Teen so much. I've watched the entire episodes over and over again 😂
The theme song is permanently stuck in my brain. I grew up watching 6teen.
I remember being hyped to be 16 cause Disney age and all and blink I was suddenly 18. Highschool really is nowhere as memorable as TV made it to be🤣
Exactly... I thought 16 was a milestone... An age that you will be very beautiful and cool, have money, less classes or assignments, have cool friends and everything will be perfect....
Oh the horror when I reach that age
@@lollybowser that’s what I said I think I had a mental breakdown at some point because I realize being a teen sucked not to mention schools and all that mess
@@onuhrita5009 I know how you feel I was over here thinking I would be driving and just the most alpha guy there was and long and behold that was not the case.
@@spadesofpaintstudios1719 Comforting to see I wasn't the only one
Hopefully the total drama reboot does well so they’ll consider making an 8teen revival on hbo max. This show has so much potential to be the next big adult cartoon akin to Rick & Morty, Family Guy, etc. it’s a really dope show plus has that nostalgia factor to it.
I love how Jude's va played a laid back chill guy here and a complete sociopath in total drama
I literally just watched this show about 2 weeks ago. I actually love this show!
Yeah this song has been stuck in my head for years pops in my head randomly from time to time. And was actually waiting for you to cover this good job man and thanks
I loved this show. The main cast were all likable and most of the supporting cast were memorable and great.
I just heard the beginning of the intro in my head and almost cried. This show was such a great escape for me and was so fun and relaxing. Really felt like hanging out with friends. Miss this shit, man 🫠😢😭
I’m 22, I grew up watching this show and is still one of my comfort shows & I still re watch it now.
That channel is a blessing for rearing the entire series. It also introduced me to other shows too .
I would love them to continue it on hbo max like they've been killing it on the animation side
It’s funny, because mall culture is still well alive in my part of Canada. Where I live is below freezing winter and extreme weather most of the year so malls are quite necessary places.
Though I’m an adult now, I see lots of mall goth and generally mall rat teens hanging out after school.
i remember being like nine or ten years old & being sent into a mental breakdown about aging out of friendships because of 6teen's series finale lmao
One of the most underrated cartoon network show
If you enjoy 6teen, you’ll love another show named stoked. It is basically the same premise but it takes place at a beach resort.
I had no idea mall closers was a big thing. There is only one I know of near me and I love going there. Mostly because it's the only place I can find niche things I'm into. It's not very big compared to other malls but it's always a good time when I go out with friends.
Oh, my dude. It was my favourite show and Jude will always be one of my favourite characters. Good vid, dude!
Remember it? I still watch it! They've got their own RUclips channel and I've been going for broke since 2018.
I love how each every episode was only in a mall but in different locations and it had a few scenes that weren't in the mall. They were creative for each episode.
omg i was so excited to watch this show every day when i was a kid. i was so sad when they stopped showing it!!
Oh boy, I've been waiting for this series since I saw you started this series. Love your content.
My younger cousins got me into this show back when it first aired on CN and I’ve been watching sporadically ever since 😅 I watch it on Tubi
I didn’t grow up watching this show when it came out, only later. I absolutely LOVE it.
The surfer show you talking about is it stoked?
@@Kasperwithak58 might be. Sounds familiar when you say the name.
@@hunterotte9555 it is in fact stoked
A year ago during quarantine, I began watching 6teen for the first time on this RUclips channel called “Retro Rerun”, and I’ve fallen in love with the show ever since ❤️📺
I remember playing the 6teen games, one was a generic stacking blocks game
Okay wait I totally forgot the name of this show but I remembered these characters of 6teen! I’m glad I grew up with some of these shows instead of what’s out now. Kinda forgot about Total Drama for a while though tbh. Great video! ✌🏻
Jonesy will forever remain a legend.
Facts my man jonesy is and forever will be the goat
In literally rewatching this show right now and I live it so much! The creator made some of the best shows that everyone loves today
this show needs a sequel series/reboot called 8teen
Thank you for covering this. It was a great blast from the past
I have been rewatch 6teen
6teen started playing while I was in high school in south africa and I LOVED it! Pretty sure I could watch it again at 29.
Back when animated shows were good and not overly 3D
I remember they did a zombie short film of 6Teen. I didn't see it as a kid but I did years later on Tubi
Wait….remember stoked?
Stoked and 6teen were some of my favorite shows. I loved all the characters in both.
I still watch 6teen!!❤️❤️
I have this very specific memory about this show playing in the background theme song and all, while I was sitting across the bedroom near my closet, probably playing with Barbies or something as an 8-9 year old. I don't recall it being on Nickelodeon personally, but looking into it further I guess it moved to Cartoon Network in 2008, which would be when and where I saw it. I had no idea it had so many censored episodes in the US airings though, but it's to be expected. Decent show.
DUUUUUDE
JUUDDDE
oh fuck, this channel is making my memory neurons explode
This was my show as a kid n a young teen
This show had such longevity for me because I remembered growing up watching it on Nickelodeon, only to be ecstatic when it found life again over on Cartoon Network years later, alongside Total Drama and Stoked. Hell, I’m ready to go rewatch it all the way through off this video alone.
I would love to see a more adult oriented revival of the series. 8teen would definitely make for some relatable “road to adulthood” storylines and scenarios.
I hate when they used 6teen to talk about politics
6teen was a masterpiece I remember coming back home everyday from school and watching it
