Another great song! The next, “BLOOD BROTHERS”, was written by Steve Harris as a tribute to his deceased father... one of the best for all time, in my opinion!
Bruce isn't at his peak vocally, since his vocal range has suffered and his voice strains. However I do like his voice since it fits so well on this album
Before Maiden, Janick already had worked with Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) and Fish (Marillion) and also with Bruce. He was already BIG and did not need to "step up" to any competition. And there is no internal competition in Maiden, this is not how Maiden works. You would understand how Janick is important if you pay attention to who wrote which songs. If it were not for Janick we would never have had "Be Quick or Be Dead", "Wasting Love", "Man on the Edge", "Dance of Death" among others. A lot of his solos are really difficult technically, even much more difficult than solos by Murray or Adrian. Of course everyone has their own taste when it comes to liking certain styles among others, but at least give the guy his well deserved credit technically and creatively.
To be fair to him, he's new to the band and doesn't know these details. I've seen plenty of comments trashing Janick and it can be hard not to be influenced by it.
Another great song on this album, though very bleak picture of the Brave New World. This is based on the 1932 novel by Aldous Huxley [1894-1963], The story that inspired the lyrics of the song takes place in what was at the time of Huxley's writing a futuristic world state with the motto: "Community, Identity, Stability". Every inhabitant of this state consumes daily doses of an anti-depressive drug called soma, babies are conceived and born in specialized laboratories, and the most popular form of entertainment is the "feelies", a movie that can not only be watched but also felt with the senses of touch and smell. The main character in the book revolts against this system that controls every single aspect of human life and ends up becoming a sort of circus attraction (the "Savage") for the rest of the world. Our Brave new World in the United States is teetering on the possible loss of Democracy when anger from people that hate change so much it can bring into power an autocrat like what happened in Germany in the 1930’s a Fascist state can prevail, along with furthering of the strengthening Plutocracy that exists. Reminds me of a line in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith “So this is how liberty dies…with thunderous applause” The title itself is taken from Shakespeare's 1612 play TheTempest in which the character of Miranda exclaims: O, wonder!, How many goodly creatures are there here! How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world That has such people in't! - Act V, Scene I Bruce Dickinson stated about this song "Dying swans twisted wings, beauty not needed here'. I don't recall there being any dying swans in Brave New World the book. But I wanted an image that represented the tragedy and sadness of what Brave New World had done. Dying swans, twisted wings, you know, the agony, the death.Brave New World doesn't want to see that. It has no use for either the life or the death. All it has use for is the image because in the book, if you want excitement you go to the viddies; it's Aldous Huxley's premonition of virtual reality and I'm taking that and throwing it out there for discussion"
Personally, I think it's great that they have three guitarists, and in fact three lead guitarists. Lends to more complexity in the songwriting, Janick's great stage performance, and oftentimes THREE incredible solos in one song, as you will soon discover!
On this song its really easy to learn wich guitarist play wich solo, first one is a typical Janick Gers solo and second one is a typical Dave Murray solo
Probably already mentioned, but the first 3 tracks on this album are the first 3 songs of the Rock in Rio show. It would be an understatement to say the live versions sound as good or better and are way more entertaining. The energy they came out with (and sustained for the entire show) was just unbelievable. And the crowd was fantastic.
Based on the book by Aldous Huxley - which I have read. No need for me to explain what it's all about as subscriber Metal Mark 12 has done a great job providing the info. Huxley also wrote a short thesis type book called 'The Doors of Perception' which is where the band 'The Doors' got their name from. Huxley dropped some acid and wrote about his experiences. This is what then formed the book.
Blood Brothers next. I live show staple for Maiden. Bruce normally makes a small speech before introducing it, stating that it does not matter where you are from, the color of your skin, what your beliefs are. Everyone in the audience loves Maiden and we are all BLOOD BROTHERS!!!
You HAVE to watch the whole Rock in Rio show that was recorded in 2001. It contains about 6 (?) Songs from this album and other classics. In many peoples eyes it's Maiden's best ever show. There's just under 20 songs overall i think
Glad that young man like u listening to great and legend band like maidens.. ur reaction & reviews are amazing 👏.. hope new generations hears the classic metal because they r the gods of music of all times
Nicko McBrain (drums) really doesn't get enough credit for his beats in Iron Maiden... the guy is as good as John Bonham of Led Zeppelin was. Next year (2023) will mark 40 years since he joined the band in 1983 for the 'Piece of mind' album. 'Brave new world' was a line that came off 'Somewhere in time' ("Stranger in a strange land")... which was also the title of a novel by Aldous Huxley in 1932.
Great comment on catchy vs repetitive, Maiden post Blaze still dips into repeated lyrics in many songs but not only is it about knowing not to do too many, it’s also about DELIVERY and Bruce delivers lyrics better than most anybody.
If you imagine if this song was on Virtual XI instead, with that album's sound and Blaze's vocals instead of Bruce's, it wouldn't have been nearly as good.
if you like this wonderful song, you absolutely must see the live version of rock in rio on youtube, it is even more phenomenal. it will give you goosebumps, I assure you. greetings friend! 👍😊
Amazing song! Another one that showcases the bands capability of coming up with beautiful melodies. Janick and Dave had the first and second main solos respectively, and then all three were harmonising the melody after the solos! Janick really does shine on this album and the next. I definitely think he’s the worst out of the three guitarist, but in no way at all is he bad. He just becomes a bit repetitive and you can pick out his go-to licks in the alter albums, but for this album and the next the licks are almost hidden with the placement in the solo itself. Amazing work by all of them on this album though!
It's always good to think about Maiden's performing their songs live, because that's their mentality and approach when going into the studio. They are a live band!
No comments for repetitive chorus, short instrumental parts and poor guitar parts for 3 super guitarists?? With Bruce back and 3 guitarists this is a poor performance imo. Overestimated album, a good one ofc, but not as high as it is considered. The thirst for comeback overrated this one. Next song, 100 times the same chorus, omg...

Killer tune!
Nicko is on fire this album!!! He’s like a freaking octopus behind that kit!!
No kidding. That single bass drum on Dream of Mirrors is insane.
Another great song!
The next, “BLOOD BROTHERS”, was written by Steve Harris as a tribute to his deceased father... one of the best for all time, in my opinion!
Agreed
And one of Janicks most tasteful solos.
It just a great song the best on the album
A top tier song. Bruce is at his peak vocally.
Bruce really good, but great difference from the Chemical Wedding album. There was the real peak! Problems with voice appeared from DoD and after...
Watched Death on The Road many times, no voice problem there...maybe from TFF on
Bruce isn't at his peak vocally, since his vocal range has suffered and his voice strains.
However I do like his voice since it fits so well on this album

@@DM-rc4yu
That is exactly why I am making this comment. I am enjoying his journey so much and I like him to liberate himself from such bullshit.
Janick is the most down to earth guy you'll ever meet.
He's not a great songwriter to be honest, but neither is Murray, so how does it matter? The main songwriters are Harris and Adrian anywaym
Since you love the guitar in the background highlighting his lyrics, wait till you listen to Senjutsu. The whole album is made like this.
Senjutsu is 🤤
why is it always Janick doing it too 😭😭😭
Can't wait for Hurm to cover Senjutsu! Although, that will mean the end of his Maiden reactions 😮💨
One word for senjitsu- GOD
When you have three guitarists, it makes sense
It's Janick who plays along with Bruce and mimics what he sings. You will notice it a lot in Reunion Era Maiden.
One of my favourite Maiden’s song..cheers from italy✌️
The solos are from Janick and Dave
This is the best Maiden song since the Seventh son album. Best album since Somwehere in time... A really strong return to form....

The background guitar is Janick, it's kinda what he does now, and he writes a lot of their killer songs.
My Fav off this album is The Nomad
I believe it’s called syncopation when the guitar breaks away from the rhythm and plays with the vocals.
On this song its really easy to learn wich guitarist play wich solo, first one is a typical Janick Gers solo and second one is a typical Dave Murray solo

Yeah I am finding myself feeling these studio versions are a bit tame… 😅
Rock in Rio is the best concert to watch ever

What you said, they should have written the followup to the "Thin Line Between Love & Hate" with the title: "Fine Line Between Catchy & Repetitive" :)
Blood Brothers next. I live show staple for Maiden. Bruce normally makes a small speech before introducing it, stating that it does not matter where you are from, the color of your skin, what your beliefs are. Everyone in the audience loves Maiden and we are all BLOOD BROTHERS!!!
This album was a great comeback! Far better that everything they did after 7th son
Epic song based on British novelist Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. "Bring this savage back home" a killer line
Brave New World is the best reunion album!
Based on the novel called brave new world it’s even better live
You HAVE to watch the whole Rock in Rio show that was recorded in 2001. It contains about 6 (?) Songs from this album and other classics. In many peoples eyes it's Maiden's best ever show. There's just under 20 songs overall i think

Dream of Mirrors!!!
Can't wait for it!
I love everything on this one!! The lyrics are amazing, Blood Brothers is another great one I'm sure you'll love it, sends a great message too!
Another insane song! I love this album!
Next song is blood brother it's about bassist father who died. So sad
Another great song. Blood Brothers next, one of my favorites. One of the "softer" songs on the album but very melodic and emotional.
Adrian will show up later 😉
Glad your enjoying “New Maiden”.
Mr. Janick Gers is OP in this album
Blood brothers is the best song on the album
Just Dave and Janrick solo but all 3 came together after the solos
It's A Brave New World 🤘🤘🤘 go Hurm1t go👍
If you imagine if this song was on Virtual XI instead, with that album's sound and Blaze's vocals instead of Bruce's, it wouldn't have been nearly as good.
I really would like to hear the Blaze era versions of these songs written during that time period. I can just imagine how good they could be...
There’s always a first, even from Janick.
if you like this wonderful song, you absolutely must see the live version of rock in rio on youtube, it is even more phenomenal. it will give you goosebumps, I assure you. greetings friend! 👍😊

I think some of these repetitive choruses are done intentionally for crowd participation at concerts. Super easy to song along to

Big up hurm 👏
More gold! :)
Praising Jans personal touch once again?👍
Strong track but not in the top 20 post reunion tracks for me.

The only good song on this album lol..
