Julia. Georges Delerue

Julia (Vanessa Redgrave), the daughter of a wealthy family being raised by her grandparents in the United States, enjoys a close relationship with Lillian Hellman (Jane Fonda) as children and adolescents. Years later, Julia attends Oxford and the University of Vienna as a medical student. Meanwhile, living together in an isolated beach house, Lillian struggles to write her first play, under uncompromising advice from her mentor and occasional lover Dashiell Hammett (Jason Robards), who is at this point a highly successful but retired author.
Georges Delerue's soundtrack offers descriptive and ambient melodies, of great expressive force, that praise youth, joy and party. On several occasions, passages of intense drama and suspense are included. The songs “Main Tittle”, “End Tittle”, “Lillian in Paris” and “Lillian’s Dream” stand out. As added music it contributes a short but nice fragment of “La cucaracha” and a longer one of a Viennese waltz.
