Those were fools. 40 years later she was right ✅
Hah, thank you for that long-winded pile of rubbish. She was never right, nor are those “boos” from “disgusting and pathetic” people. Have you ever even been to Israel?
*KAHANISTS. Every jew is a zionist, and she made a big word blunder causing for her to sound anti semitic
@heathrab zionist shit
Yup fast fw to 2023
I prefer this type of speech compared to the empty grand standing we heard last night. Say what you will about Vanessa Redgrave but she's no empty virtue signaller.
Beautiful lady.
Right on Vanessa!
She is so real for this. A TRUE QUEEN!
Hey how dare you ! There’s no real evidence about John Travolta !
Not even a stutter. The courage on that woman remains truly inspiring. All respect from Palestine 🇵🇸✊
Love Vanessa Redgrave! What an amazing actress and courageous person!
Grande Vanessa, grande atriz !
Awesome speech, awesome Actress ....
Wow what she said then still applies today, as the world have forgotten/ignored the Palestinians' struggle
Pure class act!
I don’t think this was classy at all I think it was inappropriate for the situation
Vanessa was ahead of her time.....
Wow you know they’d turn the music on these days! Way to go Vanessa! 🙏🥹
Vanessa Redgrave is one of the greatest actresses in the world. Her record of magnificent performances both on the stage and screen still remains unequalled. I well remember her acceptance speech as she delivered it that day, but I never understood the furor it generated. Her words are those of a person who is personally committed to the fight against opression, prejudice and fascist ideologies in our time. I respect her for being so brilliant in her work and so brave in her personal attitude towards bigotry and injustice.
By supporting the Palestinazis, she is supporting bigotry and injustice:
ukmediawatch.org/2014/04/29/what-the-guardian-wont-report-pew-study-reveals-extreme-homophobia-in-palestinian-society/
so supporting the coastal road massacre is fighting bigotry?
Attmay Whether to support or not support the frequent hateful actions of Israel had nothing whatsoever to do with being gay. Clearly, you are not only hateful, but are also confused.
Um, no, she isn't. Her range is narrow, and today she is almost totally forgotten.
@@7777Scion quite to the contrary!!
This speech is now relevant with what's going on now over there
IF ONLY THERE WERE MORE LIKE HER CALLING OUT ZIONISM. THE WORLD WOULD BE A BETTER PLACE !!
Attmay
Being ant-Zionist does not mean im Racist. Zionism is not a race, its a political ideology. Stop playing the victim card and go learn something. That shit doesnt work anymore.
bmw200000 Yes it is. If you oppose the national sovereignty and collective self-defense of the Jewish people, you are a racist. Aren't you late for a cross-burning or would it conflict with your hot date with your sister?
blogs.timesofisrael.com/the-trouble-with-anti-zionism/
***** You know what they say, Eva: if the jackboot fits, WEAR IT!
+bmw200000 shows how fucking stupid and indoctrinated you are - she didn't call out ZIONISM - just a handful of assholes - She has actually been quite supportive of Israel in her life.
+Nature of the game - and yet it is the freest country in the middle east - for women both Jew and Muslim, Arab and Israeli. The only country where gays aren't thrown off roofs, dragged through the streets tied to a motorcycle or hung.
The only country in the ME where freedom of religion is guaranteed and respected; where the upkeep of EVERY religious building or shrine is borne by the Israeli government.
so please FUCK OFF
Why don't we have nowadays speeches like this?
simply because ads sponsor won't allowed it and I'm not sure politics and Academy or Grammy Awards are the place for that.
because the want to thank the academy thousands of times for giving that golden thing without expecting, they are just doing movies just for the awards not for the art they calling it
Since these last comments, Meryl Streep's 2017 Golden Globe speech came close. Meryl had it easy though - no one booed her!
I suppose because good taste finally triumphed?
Because unless you're Meryl Streep or Tom Hanks it would be a very bad business decision.
I was a little kid listening from under my aunts bed and had no idea why the adults there were shocked but she was right
I never need to hear another Oscar speech ever 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🍉
fucking BASED. you can't fight violence with MORE violence. Being the bigger man is the sensible and altruistic approach to any situation and Vanessa showed by example exactly what she was talking about. Bravo.
What a beautiful spirit, and a graceful intellect this wonderful actress possesses. Brava, Ms Redgrave!
The gangsters certainly didn't like that one bit.Did you hear the gasps from the audience? The truth is hard for them to hear.
Thankyou Vanessa for taking a stand on an important theme ever present even today.
Fast fwd to 2023
VANESSA REDGRAVE IS A SYMBOL OF FREEDOM! other actresses only watch their wardrobe and only think about hairstyles, jewelry and frivolity ✡️ Redgrave is a Lady who dedicated much of her career to fighting injustices...
✝️
Nothing like a little competitive religious symbology and disunifying
competition to mask a deep insecurity, aye Wolfie!?
I was so proud of her...good on you girl!
One of the nominees should have been Terri Garr, Melinda Dillon's co-star in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. She gave such a strong and credible performance as a suburban, discontented wife whose life is turned upside down by the escapades of her UFO-searching husband that you sometimes forget you're watching what is supposedly a sci-fi movie.
Garr had several great career moments that went unacknowledged.
@@BENJ1969 Agreed. Her terrific performance in "Tootsie" was also not acknowledged.
Bravo...she is a gem
The zionost hoodlums part is still real
Regardless of if you agree with the opinion stated or not, it was unarguably delivered with the upmost grace.
Awesome courage
"Truth to power"? WTF?
DO YOU EVEN GRASP THE MEANING OF THE TERM YOU NIT?
Speaking "Truth to power" isn't a matter of standing up in the middle of a bunch of like-minded folk and telling them what they freaking want to hear.
Speaking Truth To Power is getting up in front of someone who can kill you at will and telling them the Truth, that they aren't the wonderful person they see themselves as. It's Jesse Owens looking Hitler in the eye as he took his gold medals.
It isn't a stupid actress whining about some long-since forgotten event from a podium in downtown LA.
Imbecile.
@@ffuukkyootoobffuukkyootoob1411 thats funny because WHEN YOU ACTUAALY THINK ABOUT IT MRS REDGRAVE ACTUALLY DID SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER ONSTAGE BEFORE A LARGLY PRO ZIONIST PRO USREAL AUDIENCE!
Only now i know how brave this woman is
Vanessa Redgrave - always ahead of time.
I'm amazed they didn't take this down 😂
I came here after a zionist channel complained about her speech. I dont disagree with what she said.
It’s funny two of my fav British actress have supported the Palestinian solidarity movement (that being Julie Christie and Vanessa Redgrave).
That took some balls
Respect, Vanessa you are inspiring
travolta is so freaking young!
From IMDb : "Sidney Lumet claimed that he wanted to cast Vanessa Redgrave in the film, but Paddy Chayefsky didn't want her. Lumet argued that he thought she was the greatest English-speaking actress in the world, while Chayefsky, a proud Jew and supporter of Israel, objected on the basis of her support of the PLO. Lumet, himself a Jew, said "Paddy, that's blacklisting!" to which Chayefsky replied, "Not when a Jew does it to a Gentile."
ElMaruecan82
Interesting
I would have objected on the grounds that I find watching her makes me queasy. She has a slithery voice, and her mouth wanders over her face in strange directions.
But Chayefsky had the last word.
ruclips.net/video/VeV3GpUY1B4/видео.html
He was very wrong! Altered states proved that. Redgrave would go on to bigger and better things. Paddy would be dead. So there's THAT.
Karma!!!@@jamesmonroe7751
God Travolta's so gorgeous here
Ahahahahaha! Sorry for laughing at your comment but this was just so
irrelevant! Νο mean to offend!
What? He is. Hehehehehe
Dreamy indeed
God bless you Johnny! After all you've been through you deserve everything that's coming to you!
Very gracious and courageous woman. While all of this was going on inside there were people protesting her outside by burning effigies of her. It was so serious that police had sharp shooters on rooftops just in case. And yes, she did end up being black listed because of her opinions.
One of my favorite oscar speeches of all times!!!!
This is a better one. ruclips.net/video/VeV3GpUY1B4/видео.html
@@lesleyvivien2876 I wish your comment was visible to everyone rather than in reply to another because the video you inserted presents both sides in an equitable fashion. Please post again and thanks for adding balance to the commentary. I appreciate your position and the classy way you address it.

Thank you. ♥
Tis done. ☺
@@lesleyvivien2876 definitely NOT!!!!!!
@@kaledafif7972 Definitely not what? It would be interesting to know what "NOT!!!" refers to!
Normally, I detest when stars politicize their moment in the spotlight but not with this. Nowadays, it's the "cool" thing to do with celebrities and they proceed with these cringey, disingenuous rants in front of a room full of cheering supporters. Not Ms. Redgrave. This took serious guts and she did it with authenticity and grace to a room of stunned silence and boos. She's the real deal.
Indeed!
Yes
Bullshit. It's no more acceptable from her than it is from anyone else. Paddy Chayefsky was right.
@@lesleyvivien2876 would it be MORE ACCEPTABLE to you if the roles were REVERSED????
@@kaledafif7972 I'll probably regret asking this, but here goes anyway:
What on earth are you talking about?
The boo-ers are a disgrace. They showed themselves as criminals to humanity and how dare they interrupt this wonderful speech by this beautiful heroine. We live in a dark and corrupt world where our only sense of bearing is provided by beacon-holders whose belief and insistence on fighting for justice continue to lead us on in our fight against racism and fascism. I salute you, Miss Vanessa Redgrave.
disagree she asked for it! with that crowd being 99% jewish I was laughing when she got booed
The Zionists of Hollywood showing themselves up!
@@Kamandi1971 well you’re an idiot, just because someone is Jewish doesn’t mean they are or should be Zionists.
For a minute can we appreciate how charming and dashing John Travolta was in his 20s such a beautiful tone voice ♥️♥️♥️
On the same year Grease (1978)came and he became the heartthrob of millions girls.
She is GOATED for this 💃
I like how some people in the audience were actually gasping over her comments about "Zionist hoodlums".
I was one of those "zionist hoodlums" she spoke of. Today, 50 yrs later, I say FREE PALESTINE
A legend! ❤
