Just an FYI, this talisman has almost no effect, it raises guard boost by 1 to 4 points only, which is not worth a talisman slot imo. I don't know if it's bugged or if they nerfed it. I tested it with the some shields + barricade ash of war, which adds 35 guard boost. Test one I used the Golden beast great shield with barricade, so a GB of 60 +35= 95 + the talisman and was losing stamina blocking. Next I used the cuckoo great shield + barricade for a GB of 64+35= 99 and lost no stamina loss while blocking, so it does add at least 1 point but not 5. I can't find any shields with a GB of 61, 62 or 63 to find out exactly how much it adds.
But unless you really want to use the cuckoo great shield it's not worth a talisman slot, not by a long shot, even at 95 GB even common enemies can drain your stamina quickly, bosses can one shot your stamina easy. You need 100 GB to really make a turtle build work and so far the lightest shield you can do this with is the redan greatshield at 14.
Just tested it with the fingerpirnt shield, didnt see the guard boost number go up but i lost around half as much stamina with the talisman equipped.

@@leoaskham6564 when i tested it i could visibly see a large difference in how much stamina was used when i blocked attacks.

I tested it with the fingerprint shield, Jellyfish shield, Erdtree greatshield, Buckler, and Heater shield, took screenshots and measured the stamina losses all on medium load against Godrick's axe dragging attack and there was no difference for me. For context I'm on journey 10 right now.
@@leoaskham6564 4 months ago when i initially tested it with a friend i just remember it being a vast enough difference for me to decide it was a must have for a spear and sheild build. Thing may have changed since i tested it all those months ago, and that was just my experience 🤷♂️

Does this boost guard when wielding 2hands? Or is the shield portion a requirement?
I know this is super late, but you can check in your stat screen just by looking at the “guard boost” stat. If it goes up after equipping the talisman, it works.

Guys, im using the vagabond class and when i press left shift and
right-click on my mouse i trigger some kind of shield attack instead of
the heavy (special) attack for my sword, its tilting me really hard. Any
suggestions what i should do?
Can either two hand your weapon or use a shield without a skill. If you like the look of your shield, you can apply 'No Skill' to it.

This and fingerprint shield +25 break the game since they make you immune to physical damage. Gotta exploit this before it gets nerfed.

The more Guard Boost a shield has the less Stamina damage you take when blocking. Aka what Souls games previously call Stability.
Greatshield Talisman reduces the Stamina Damage you take on Blocking by 20%. pretty much as if it gave your Shield more Guard Boost.
It was previously wrongfully thought to have directly given scaling amounts of Guard Boost.
Does it not update the stats shown when you equip the talisman? Without the talisman on, my guard boost is 75. With it on, it's.... 75. It doesn't change. And I can't find anywhere else that Guard Boost is shown.

Your total guard boost is never shown to you. The talisman adds only 1 to 4 GB points though so it's not worth a talisman slot imo. I tested it for my shield+ thrusting weapon build and narrowed down how much it adds to at least 1 but not 5. Tried with golden beast greatshield and barricade ash or war (which adds 35 GB), for a total GB of 95 + whatever the talisman adds and lost stamina while blocking, so it's less than 5. Then with the cuckoo greatshield+ barricade, total GB of 99+ the talisman and lost no stamina while blocking, so it adds at least 1 GB point.
