Magnificent performance. So much energy and style behind every movement. And his partnering skills are amazing. Powerful and effortless at the same time.
I saw this when it premiered on New Years Eve and it was memorable then. The lightness and flow and connection to each other and the audience on stage and off was fantastic! Merle Park was light as a feather on the breeze.
@@simaraft7373 Didn't know that, but very ROH! They should move out to Glyndebourne, Opera in the summer, ballet in the winter...just a thought...though a tad difficult to access for many. Give the Lewes taxi drivers a winter income, though.
I've come here from ruclips.net/video/eECpcrBeh94/видео.html where Park and Eagling are coaching O'Sullivan and Zuchetti. Park and Eagling are amazing in their technique and musicality; and such a beautiful and handsome pair. I have the impression that the singers were also really enjoying their front row seats!
I never saw it - but Merle Park is so beautiful a dancer I would travel the oceans to see her dance again. And Wayne Eagling dances surely the very way Frederick Ashton would have loved. Thank you thank you for this clip.
Wonderful and fabulous performance. Love the final part of the performance where the lady ballerina was being carried away by the man ballerina. Thanks for posting for us to enjoy the show.
Maybe the flexibility, turn out and technique it's not modern day standards... But boy, the style, sharpness, quickness and quality of movement it's completly gone nowdays... A souvenir of a bygone era...
I agree. Speed and utter joy, not to mention a full production. All the others on YT are a plain stage. This is neat and really good for banishing depression.
the scenery is beautiful, i feel like a lot of theaters don’t put this much effort into staging like they used to. it’s disappointing but i am still very happy to see it was prevalent at some point.
That's because it was originally a ballet "interlude" in an opera performance of Strauss's Die Fledermaus. It's now performed by the RB as a standalone Ashton piece. Lucky singers here getting a close-up view of Park and Eagling!
Además de la excelente técnica, me da la impresión , que Merle Park es una pluma o Wayne Eagling tiene polenta. Impacta la naturalidad con la cual levanta y sostiene a la bailarina.
Magnificent,remarkable!Absolutely gorgeus.
Lovely! He is such a good partner
Absolutely fabulous!
I love this! Beautiful dancing, beautiful steps, good partnering, costumes and music. A total delight x
Classical dance at its best. I love the new techniques, but I miss the artistry of the past.
You and me both .... but there is still plenty of artistry if you know where to look
The synchronization between these two is remarkable. But by herself she is simply gorgeous.
Fabulous!! Technically out of this world….the _speed_ is truly amazing! So lighthearted and droll, such a lovely mood!

it's so nice to see Wayne Eagling dancing with Merle Park. I haven't seen this piece in a long time. Really fun and lovely!
Love the male dancer's chat during the female solo! Ashton at his best.
Was that choreographed, I wonder? 😄. Also, the little tap on Park's shoulder at 3:07?
Fantastic couple, precise, graceful, and when he holds her high up , wow!
Absolutely gorgeous. Remarkable how they can do it on such a small stage!
To be fair, it is somewhat crowded :) Sack that scenery designer!
@@rosiegreen813 Agree! I don’t the Royal’s set designs to this day. And they remodeled the theater without enlarging the stage which they could have

He is so strong, all those lifts look effortless.

See also Alina Cojocaru and Johan Kobborg in it, they are mesmerizing..
@@BytomGirl You remind me to view their performance again. Anna-Rose O'Sullivan and Marcelino Sambé also capture well the spirit of the piece.
Wonderful and fabulous performance.
Love the final part of the performance where the lady ballerina was being carried away by the man ballerina.

It is not a man ballerina, how can a man be a bellarina unless he is one of the Trocks !!!!
He is called ballet dancer
I liked that, too. It ended the same as it started, only different sides of the stage. So pretty!
15 years after that _Nutcracker_ with Park and Nureyev, and less than a year before that _Romeo and Juliet_ with Eagling and Ferri 😊
Thank you so much for posting. It is so good to see the pas de deus in its original context.
What a wonderful pas de deux! She is stunning and can do much more (cf The Nutcracker with Nureyev).
Lovely! I was fortunate to see Merle as Lise in Fille Mal Gardée with Pact Ballet, Johannesburg, South Africa, in the 70's.
Can hardly believe it was that log ago!- Superb!

Absolutely. Another great example of how ballet can be exciting without gymnast and circus tricks.

l saw live many times mr eagling in late 70's he was really good
José Luis Becerra Reynoso she can of course do more. It's just the choreography.
Samalabear yes! I always turn to ballet on utube to escape....
Wow, beautiful !!

Astonished danced . Bravos!
The Ultimate Skill : Making it all look like Effortless Play . . . . 😺😺😺
Love the flower petal props!
Pure beauty... the music, setting, dance... amazing..
0:56 is wonderfuly breathtaking. Its like she is flying..
Stupendous!
Fantástica Merle Park!!!!
Bravo!
Can't believe Dame Merle was 46 when she did this...
incredible and joyous to watch.
So espectacular!!!❤️

Wow!!!
Прекрасно.Мерле Парк!!!
❤siete meravigliosi
👏👏🌹🌹❤️❤️
remembering the great english ballet era. now royal ballet's prima ballerinas are no longer homebred
Merle Park isn’t English either! She came from Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Wayne Eagling is Canadian
Rhodesia's answer to Margot Fonteyn
Is this the performance Maestro Domingo conducts?
💖💖💖💖
😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Sir night and erureidi
Beautiful dance but the stage is simply too small for those allegro movements
i agree which made it even more technically difficult, they pulled it off extremely well, 2lovely performers,
relax them shoulders, Merle shoulders ! shoulders ! , keep your back straight ... and you look frightened in the lifts ...
thats all i am gonna say
but it was wonderful anyway cause they were so passionate!!!!!
So you are an expert?

I asked you a question, what makes you an expert? Judging by your channel ballet is not exactly your thing
