Keep these videos coming!! Love the conclusion that the implementation doesn't need to be perfect, because it's still beneficial at any degree. I definitely needed to hear that. I've (hopefully) just settled on the version of GTD that works for me, after using TickTick for 2 years trying to figure it out. Each time, I definitely learned something new about how my brain works and when it responds best to a time/task management system. Now I'm working on building those instincts so this becomes second-nature as I work toward my life goals. Great insight!
An integral part of GTD is adding a location context parameter for each task (i.e. @home, @online, @errands) that is independent of the task category. This improves timeliness and efficiency. For example, as you go to the office supply store to pick up copy paper for work you could check your @errands list and see that your kid needs more pencils for school, and you can pick up the coffee beans you need for home at the nearby coffee shop. How does TickTick suggest incorporating context lists? Also, GTD methodology calls a multi step task a ‘Project’ that is placed in a ‘Projects’ list. Any independent tasks can be sent to Next Actions. How does TickTick suggest keeping track project tasks from various categories (home, work, personal) and location context?
I have been using it so far and its going great! One thing i cant handle is, unplanned activities, or activities that remembered later after inbox is cleared. For example, I have created an inbox, then clarified and organized it. And the middle of the day, I realized that i have things to write and add to my list. So should i add them to the inbox and re-do the process again? Since its only one task for example.
If the task is unclear and you don’t mind reprocessing your inbox, you can stick to your current workflow and use the quick add feature to organize it later. Otherwise, for tasks that clearly belong to a specific project or list, you can add them directly to the appropriate list to save time.
I'm a little confused about Capture. At 2:05 the video states that a task can be added without opening TickTick using the global add shortcut. I can't figure out what that is. I'm using a Mac.
I'm on Windows but it should be similar for a Mac. Under Settings / Shortcuts / Global Action there is a Quick Add shortcut that can be modified. I use it very often when I think of something that I need to add to TickTick without losing my focus. It opens a popup, type in your task and hit enter. Immediately back to where you were. For your sake, I'm hoping Mac has this as well.
Hi there! You can click on the "?" icon in the bottom left corner of the app, then go to "Shortcuts" and find "Global Action" - "Quick Add" to view or define this shortcut.
Is there a way to connect the task/todo in Eisenhower matrix to list? I like to do a kanban board and see what I have in progress but find myself writing in the matrix, then writing the same thing in task list so that I can use the kanban board
Love this. When a product has an active RUclips presence with clear videos, it's SO much easier to commit to the product. Love TickTick!
