  • How to do a Traditional Sling Carry with a newborn baby in a short woven wrap.
NOTE: This carry was formerly known as a rebozo carry, but is now referred to as a Traditional Sling Carry to avoid the culturally insensitive use of the word "rebozo". For more information, please look up the #takebacktherebozo movement.

I Love how easy this ruclips.net/user/postUgkxvAj3godqGAIP5rApM1laH767JGtPG1-h carrier is to adjust from my friend to me taking turns holding the baby! It provides great support on my back too! This has definitely made shopping easier! I always get asked where I get it too!

Thank you for the easy to follow directions! I'm a doula in Southern California and recently became certified to use the rebozo to help women during labor, I'm happy that I'll be able to share with mothers how they can wear their babies using their rebozo.

Wow thank you for this! I used a dupatta (indian cloth used to drape over our kurtas), and it worked just as well! Baby (who was fussy before), once settled in, fell asleep! i don't think it is still head support friendly for a baby who doesn't have neck control, but she can rest comfortably while i am all settled in on my chair. AND, i was able to make myself a cuppa tea at peace! Thank you!
Only thing is, the slip knot does become rather tight in due course - which in one way feels more secure, but then adjusting becomes a little more difficult.

I find the baby's head is supported by turning to the side and leaning against the wearer's chest. You can also leave a little extra fabric at the top, then roll a burpcloth in the fabric to create a little cushion :)

BabywearingFaith Hi again! Well after all the victory from my last post, baby has started refusing to be carried in the rebozo :( she will arch her back and bawl.
I was also not sure how much to tighten the whole thing... making it completely slack-less somehow gets her to be flat up against me, rather than the slight sitting position with the C of the spine...
      Anything I am missing?

swmitra It sounds like you might be over-tightening through the width of the wrap. Try focusing on the top several inches of the wrap when tightening and see if that helps.

Hooray! Thanks for a super-easy video! Someone gave me a huge scarf/wrap that will be perfect for this, and which I would probably never use otherwise. Can't wait to try it out! (Baby is due next month)

Y’all make this look so easy but it ain’t. I tried multiple times, while pissing my baby off, and I always get hung up on that last part when you tighten the slack from that top rail that goes around the back. I can’t ever find the damn piece that goes to it. I have checked my slip knot to make sure my rails are facing the knot and I still can’t find the damn rail yo pull it tight. Fuck this!! I’m sticking to my woven wrap with a different way to do it. I just wanted to see if I could turn my Oaxaca rebozo into a baby wearing wrap.

This may be a silly question, but wouldn't the top rail need to be higher than baby's neck to support his head? If you were to lean forward at all wouldn't this be problematic?

Not sure how big a Size 1 or Size 2 is, can you tell me the approximate length and width in inches or cm of your Rebozo? Thanks!

Can I do this with a Moby wrap?

  • @BabywearingFaith
    @BabywearingFaith  11 лет назад

Haley6610 is correct; you would support your baby's head with your hand if you were to lean forward. When you are upright, your baby will lean his/her head against your chest for support.

Size 1 is 2.4m and size 2 is 2.7m. Most wraps are around 30" wide :-)

In this video I'm using a woven wrap made by Didymos; the colourway is called Aqua Waves.
