    When WORLD released I had just moved back to my home state across the country after a pretty rough break up where I was cheated on, I had to completely start over I lost pretty much everything. I was lucky enough to have a friend who let me stay with them til I got back on my feet, found a job a few weeks later. For 3 months straight I would hustle all day at work and go back "home" to play MH. It was my escape, my therapy, my outlet for those really rough few months. It's been seven years since then, I'm typing this now from my gaming room desk in the house I bought in 2023. MHW on the other hand will i have no doubt again give me 1000's of hours of play for 70 up front and a plethora of free content plus a paid for expansion so MHW wins in my book.

    Love it. Monster Hunter game design over the last 20 years has been a slow, but steady, progression of trying to make the hunter's life easier without significantly diminishing the challenge of the hunt. World was huge step up from the DS titles, and those where a step up from the PSP titles. Not to also get all "back in my day", but I used to really mess my hand up playing the PSP titles with the Monster Hunter Claw grip style. Getting to play on an ergonomically designed control was heaven compared to that.

    These two overlaps to make the experience unlike that of the older games, so challenge in MH is a very hard thing to dispute. At this point, if you're a veteran from the older games, you should not expect a challenge until maybe the last few TUs, in both the base game and the G-rank version.

      And considering that it's easier, how much credit to how easy it is goes to us just being better and how much credit goes to the game just being less janky and streamlined? And in terms of the jankiness of classic games, getting rid of that jankiness does indeed make the games easier to some degree, but it's a valuable tradeoff. I love the feel of current MH games compared to old ones, and if that means a slight tradeoff is making it a bit easier I'm ok with that.
      From there, all they need to do is make the monsters themselves harder, which we are all aware they know how to do. But it seems that Capcom doesn't really start to deliver that challenge that veterans are looking for until you reach Elder tier monsters in the end game, and of course Title Update monsters.

      Not entirely
      Obviously we are getting better, but the games have gotten undeniably easier over time
      Of course the pre-5th gen games are harder by default cuz they lack all the QoL changes, but even World to Rise I could feel it
      I replayed World to check this myself and I at least died a fair number of times compared to Rise where I carted no more than 3 times pre title updates
      Some of the monsters in the Wilds beta gave me a pretty tough time so I'm somewhat hopefuly but, man...

    I've said this many times. The games are not getting easy, you are simply a better hunter. As with anything in life, you only get to be new, to experience that fresh wonder of thing, once. You've conquered elder dragons, you are the sapphire star. Try not to dwell on what once was, and instead look to guiding new hunters on their journey from the perspective of one long in the teeth. Revel in your skill. Find your joy in that, you've earned it. And as always, happy hunting!

    One thing: yes, Rise IS easier than World.
    Rise was my first Monster Hunter and I played World a year after that: any monster was stronger and took a lot more effort to beat in World.
    Nargacuga, Barioth and Diablos for instance in World are far more difficult to beat while in Rise they’re a breeze.

    2:37 trying to say that the games aren't getting easier and that players are getting better while showing off Bow doing perfect dodges on attacks that would have hit them in any previous games certainly doesn't help the reviewers point. Its clear some weapons got options that are a bit overpowered

    • @Krispyboi1
      @Krispyboi1 10 часов назад +1

      That is a good point, and the old ways have their charms, but do we really need to go back to those old ways just to enjoy the newer games? if anything, a lot of the stuff you had to do back then was unnecessary.

    • @rexzakel1802
      @rexzakel1802 10 часов назад +1

      @Krispyboi1 Not at all. I am not saying everything should stay the way it was, and I like most of the changes in Wilds. I just think as far as difficulty is concerned some monsters definitely seem a lot easier than before and some weapons having perfect blocks and dodges makes it even easier. Bow in World would need to dodge attacks without getting a lot s and needing to manage stamina and charge level which all its actions cost. However in Wilds you can do a perfect dodge that makes attacks much easier to avoid even in bad positions and it also refills your stamina and charge level. This clearly makes the monsters easier to deal with by a lot, so I think there is merit to the idea that the combat is being made too easy to an extent. Other changes are very welcome but I'd prefer if they manage to balance the challenge better is all

    Preparation is part of hunting. Removing preparation in service of "fighting the monster" is without a doubt making the games easier. You can call it tedious all you want but monster hunter always benefited from judicious constraints. The game is called "Monster Hunter" not "Monster Fighter" having players gather resources and use them where they are beneficial is a lot of what drew the player into the world. Because in order to survive and succeed the player had to learn "what does this mushroom do,... Ohhh I can combine it with this herb to make my potions more meaningful."
    "Hmm this particular fish material can turn my barrel bombs into barrel bomb + I should gather some more of these." Hunting isn't just about hitting big monster with sword.

    Even if we get better as players, there still needs to be some more friction and hard monsters that give you a bigger objective. I say this because Fatalis in World was the most amazing hunt ever in MH. Because it was ruthless and needed good coordination, almost like a raid in an MMO. And that is fun.

    • @shinycaseyd
      @shinycaseyd 10 часов назад +4

      Yep I agree, Monster Hunter really shines the most when there's a challenge you need to work at to overcome.
      I think with Wilds, the devs wanted to make sure players didn't drop off in the early game, so they made to sure to order the monsters in a way that would help new players learn the skills they need in a more streamlined way without sudden roadblocks. I think we will get difficult monsters in Wilds, just not as early as in some other Monster Hunters.

    2:31 I agree with this so much! A lot of people say that Rise (or World to some extent) was too easy, but I started playing Monster Hunter with Rise, and I kept getting handed by early game monsters like Arzuros and Aknosom when I first played, but the more I played the game, the better I got. It's not getting easier, we're just getting better at the games

    • @petercottantail7850

      i pretty much had no issues with rise, mostly auto piloting through the monsters, played world and needed to pay attention more, there was more tension and danger. then played gu and there were lowrank monsters that were giving me trouble. there is no merit to the idea that mh is the same difficulty, it is drastically easier after each installment, and wilds will be even easier. the new moves weapons have are pretty much a win button like wirebugs were.
      there is no universe where you can say a game that lets you press one combo over and over and destroy the monster is the same difficulty as world and you just "are better at the game" and theres no reason to pretend otherwise, this is some weird propaganda people are pushing
