This was Apple's golden age. I've never been a fanboy, but they designed some beautiful hardware back in the late 90's to mid 00's. This tower design, and the cheese-grater PowerMac are still sexy.
Always liked the G4s, my favourite Apple design and the only product of theirs I currently own. Mine is just a 2x450 Gigabyte Ethernet model, but it's still good fun. I'll give you the same recommendation I'd give to anyone with a compatible machine: Consider installing OS9. There's a surprising amount of interesting retro games to play, from special high resolution versions of Wolfenstein 3D and Star Wars: Dark Forces to the odd exclusive, such as Marathon by Bungie of Halo fame. Both old 68k and native PPC games work great. Of course there are also more esoteric uses such as operating old music production kit, that's most of what I do.
You know, that's a fine recommendation! I literally have not touched 0S9 since 2001 when I got to play around on my girlfriends (now wife) tangerine iBook clamshell laptop. Looks like I need to do some research and get reacquainted with this OS... Thank you very much for the idea and for watching and commenting.
@@KMHardware Maybe not, check out the Mac OS9 Lives forum for a special Mac OS 9.2.2 for Unsupported G4s image. You'll need to be logged in to view the files section, but it's a great resource.
The previous one (the Quicksilver) was peak PC case. Shame what they did to it with this. I worked at McDonalds for 2 freaking years after school to get me a dual 800. god i loved that machine.
Yup! These machines were awesome for the time. As recommended by another subscriber post on this video, I think I'll install OS9 on this machine and see what it can really do! More than likely I'll post a video about my experience. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hehe! You saw the DNS and search domain settings on the NIC I see! Yup, I'm in Alberta. Born in Ontario, raised in British Columbia and have been in Alberta since 2001. I really like Alberta. It's a great province.
This was my family first ever computer but it stopped working back in 2008 maybe i still have it i really want to revive it soon i want to do a pc conversion in it but theses miror drive door model are not the easiest to do so because of their different layout inside ill need to figure something out to make it possible
A long time ago I build a PC in an old blue and white G3 case. I bought a conversion motherboard tray specifically designed for that Mac. But you can do it without out a conversion tray. A Dremel, some motherboard standoffs and some elbow grease and you can do it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@KMHardware yeah the blue and white g3 look pretty cool i looked into it and the problem is the g4 mdd is that they have a completely different layout than the standard g3/g4 so the motherboard ao and pcie slots are reversed i think the easiest would be to steal some parts from a standard g3 or g4 to make the g4 mdd work .
As the last Mac that can natively run Mac OS 9, this is the last Mac that can run the DaynaFile 5.25 inch floppy drives! From a Mac 512K with a 3rd party SCSI to this model, the DaynaFile had a good life! ruclips.net/video/EIu-gQAn1D4/видео.html

I agree! I really like the interior of the cheese-grater machines. So clean! Thank you very much for watching and commenting.

Well shoot.... My MDD is a FW 800 machine that was meant for OSX. I guess OS9 is out of the question?

@@KMHardware I'm trying to tell you about MacOS9Lives, but YT doesn't like it for some reason?
There's an image for Unsupported G4s in the files section, you just need to be logged in.
