- After quickly getting their soybeans planted, the crew at Griggs Farms does a quick turnaround to start getting some corn planted into some great looking cover crop. With almost ideal planting weather, Matt, Kelly, and Andy race to get the corn crop planted as quickly as possible to start setting some big yields for 2024. Matt shows off the biological product that he's seen big results out of.

Excellent video and editing, Matt. Some really good shots of the planter at work. Do you ever need to crimp
Yes we run the crimper in cotton planting mostly
thank you for what you grow and stay safe yall
Seems like it’s been forever since I’ve been in the field! Too dry all of April, now it’s wet and rain chances every day next week
Continued good luck with planting. Glad to see its going so well.
Thank God, it's alive. Stop. I said stop. LOL
Great video matt ❤😂❤
5982 good corn, never had refuge, ours in all in bag east central il
Matt if you was buying a new tractor today what would be high on your list to buy?
Good video Matt, looks as if the season is gonna be another interesting one. Really learn a lot out of your presentations, unfortunately due to advanced age I cannot capitalize on the lessons you provide. Like them though.
I hope you guys haven’t had any of the tornadoes and really bad storms that hit Nashville area I heard one town south of Kalamazoo Michigan got hit by two tornadoes within a hour and a half and it wiped out a Fed ex distribution center
No all the severe weather was east of us.
@@griggsfarmsllc thank God
Matt, you just seem to have the darndest luck with hydraulic hoses.
Every farmer that has hydraulic operated equipment experiences the same problem
@@griggsfarmsllc Ohh yeah of coarse, it just seems the gremlins love to follow you around hehe
@@dralord1307 it sure seems the gremlins like the cameras…
@@griggsfarmsllc Haha, yeah especially your audio. Visuals from you have always been amazing
Do u think the dry urea is a better choice rather than liquid Uan could be putting out with the gramoxone in one pass?
I use dry urea so I can blend it with ammonium sulfate to meet my sulfur needs
Hey Matt have you got your combine put back together? In the last few videos I’ve seen combine parts lying outside the shop. Just wondering. I hope everything is going good with planting,God bless 🙏🏻
Not yet. Been busy with getting a crop ready to put in
Hey don’t knock them Doyle buggie spreader. Then things are good spreaders
They may be but I'll take my Newton Crouch buggy over that one any day of the week. But it did get the job done.
Will we see some y drops on the farm this year, thats the question...
No
Sic cotton
Not to act stupid, but what is the purpose of planning refuge corn?
We have to plant a refuge corn that does not have any genetic modification for insect resistance to help prevent the controlled insects from becoming resistant to the trait.
are those new Holland good tractor's.i been seeing alot of farmers here in the deep south going to them
I’ve been pretty happy with them
@@griggsfarmsllc ok
Im not fully understanding the benefit of strips vs full burndown ahead of planter. Hoping someone can explain it to me.
I've covered it extensively in previous videos. The burn down strips allow us to have a strip with little residue to plant into in which our planter will do a much better job planting seed shallow such as cotton. It also allows our cover crop to continue to grow maximizing how much biomass they accumulate which great aids in our soil rebuilding and weed control. We get all the benefits of having maximum cover crop biomass out there but with the ease of planting into a no till environment.
@griggsfarmsllc2273 ok. That makes sense. Ive missed a few videos. Thank you
With that much biomass do you have problems with slugs
Yes they can definitely be an issue if we have cool wet weather that slugs thrive in and cotton struggles in. They can be a major issue if we don't get the seed trench closed either.
