    (21JAN2021) Hello everyone. It looks like the ODS website has been updated and has all the info you will need: www.netc.navy.mil/Commands/Naval-Service-Training-Command/OTCN/ODS/

    Hi everyone! I hope you guys have been safe and healthy during all this. I realized that so much of the protocol must have changed at ODS since I went in June 2019. As of today (06AUG2020), I've been following some people on their IG going through ODS now. It seems like everyone is being quarantined for 2 weeks at a hotel, getting meals delivered 3x/day, and expected to join in on online lectures with socially distancing PT. After testing negative, they will be moving back to King Hall to finish the rest of the program; I'm suspecting they won't be able to go outside of base like I mention in this video :/ Overall, I hope you'll find tidbits of information from this video still helpful. Thanks for watching. Stay safe out there :)

    Wow can’t believe you already Graduated! Congrats! I’m prior enlisted going the prosthodontist route. I just saw your hpsp video maybe a month ago. You already come off so much more professional! Questions; So assuming you get phones in ods? Do you have to pay for your uniforms when you get there still?
    Edit; oops didn’t see you already upload part 2 and 3 brb lol

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  4 года назад +1

      That's awesome that you're pursuing that! And no problem haha. Yes, you pay for uniforms; I spent about $1300 for them. You do get a one time $400 uniform allowance at one point. And yes phones are allowed!

    Thanks for this info! Question, is it common for your detailer to make changes to your ODS start date like that? I’m heading to ODS soon. No official start date, but August date is tentative. I’m worried I won’t have enough time to give notice to my current job.

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  4 года назад +1

      I don't believe it usually is. I originally requested either June or July and at first, I was assigned August as well. Then my detailer called me 2 weeks prior to June that I got into that class. So I chose June over August bc that wait would've been way too long for me! If you want August, it shouldn't change so surprisingly like I did.

    Hi! I am commissioning as a dentist into the Navy Reserves! My recruiter told me that for reserves, my training is split into 2+3 weeks. I'll do the first two weeks then come back to do the last 3. Did you have anyone in the Reserves in your program? Also, what kind of immunizations do you get at ODS? I feel like I have every vaccine already- from HepB for work to Covid Vaccines!! What do they look for on your medical evaluation at ODS? Is it as detailed as MEPS or is it just to make sure you don't have high BP and won't die from the exercise?

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  Год назад

      Congratulations!!
      We didn't have any reservists during my time there. It sounds like your officer training is different than active duty? I don't quite remember which immunizations we had but bring your updated immunizations so you don't get the same ones again. The medical evaluation is not like MEPS at all; it was just getting weighed and then updating immunizations, as needed.
      Best of luck!

    Hi Monica!
    Greatly enjoy your videos.. Thank you!
    Would love your honest opinion.
    I am 40, thinking about joining the US Navy Reserves, in the Médical Service Corps as a Physical Therapist.
    In the mean time getting in shape, trying to lose some weight and improve my run times.
    Would love to hear your feedback.
    For me it would be more for the experience not the benefits since I will be going Reserves.

      Hi! Thanks for your support (: I'm not too familiar with the reserves, but I know some reservists will come into our dental clinic every once in a while. They worked for about 1 week and left. I believe it is how much you're able to put in, but again, you'll probably want to do some research first!

    I’m heading to ODS this summer as a vegan. Any idea of how challenging it will be to get enough food during training? Thanks!

      Congrats on ODS! I'm sure the menu might have changed but I think it was still accommodating when I attended. There was always a fresh salad/fruit bar, soups. There were pastas, vegetable medleys, quiche, etc.

    Do you know if I need to memorize the ranks "verbatim"?
    IE: sir/mam an E1, is in the United States Navy.... Etc

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  4 года назад

      They may ask you but either way, you do want to memorize that when you go into the fleet bc you'll be working with everyone - enlisted and officers!

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  4 года назад

      Replying back bc I just remembered that you def could be tested on recognizing ranks. They made us study navy, army, and marine ranking. Just good to know!

    Any news due to COVID19 if other ODS classes are delayed?

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  4 года назад

      Based on the info on the ODS website, it looks like Class 20040 will continue as scheduled.

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  4 года назад

      However, there may be changes in the class sizes. Here is the exact text:
      "ODS class 20040 will execute as scheduled. Please note that the graduation date for this class is 7 May, vice 8 May 2020; please generate Orders accordingly. Guidance is being developed locally concerning reporting instructions for students as well as mitigations that will be put in place to minimize COVID-19 exposure to staff and students at Officer Training Command. Officer Training Command (OTC) expects restrictions placed on personnel residing in “COVID-19 hot-spots” to affect the number of students authorized to report to training. This situation may create a backlog of students displaced from ODS class 20040, both active and SELRES, who will need to be registered for a future ODS class. Please work to schedule students in future classes (20050 and beyond), and let OTC know if you are having quota issues registering your students. We will work to accommodate as we can, but please realize the peak utilization for ODS is the period of May through September. Additional guidance will be provided soonest with reporting instructions."

      Of course, ODS is a five-week joke. OCS is a different story. ODS is for attorneys playing Sailors.
