She is such an amazing person, a truly graceful and intelligent old soul. Rhiannon is gift to humanity, end of story.
💯💯💯💯🎯🙏
Fantastic interview. Rhiannon has my heart. She’s so easy breezy. Her connection with people is amazing.
I love her! I saw her at the NC Folk Festival in Greensboro, NC a couple of years ago and have been a fan ever since
I really like seeing Michael Kosta in this format.Truly nice to see the real human behind is comedic persona.
briliant, intelligent and passionate this lady not mentioning her talent and skills awesome
The greatest music talent in America
She IS AWESOME 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Fascinating projects! Thanks for inviting this guest.
Appreciate how Kosta asks questions like a normal person and doesn't try to show everyone how smart he is. He also lets the guest actually talk! Refreshing to see in a host.
he has hosting experience and hes definitely showing it
It would, however, be better if he didn’t waste time with such a ridiculous question as guitar vs banjo.
This lady is awesome.
this is really the kind of musicians that are worth spending money on vinyl
Great interview! 1st time I've heard of her. Definitely going to check out her music & projects!💃🏻
She’s been around a long time!! Such a talent!$
Ditto! 👌
Have loved her voice and music for years!! And yes, I love the banjo!!
"that girl at the party on a Friday night that you back away from" - as a fellow Oberlin graduate I feel this so hard 😂😅
I first saw her in the Llewyn Davis Concert film and she’s been on my radar ever since - thank you for having her on
I❤ #rhiannongibbens her truthful story telling and musical talent & voice!
Riannon Giddens is amazingly talented and a wonderful person!
I met her a few times in Winston-Salem and she treats everyone she meets as just "folks".
Love her
Kostas!!!! Really nice interview. I knew you were better than some late night hosts on different platforms, but this was a stellar interview. I think Trevor's great skill was seeing himself as a 'comedic journalist'. This interview is fire.
fantastic guest!
I got to perform in the Boston Cast of Omar as a dancer on the plantation ❤ super cool to see the writer talking about the show. Helping tell that story will be a memory I'll cherish for life 🙏🏾🧘🏾♂️
Costa interviewing a literal Bardic Goddess.
Thank you for this!!!
she looks 10 yrs younger than she is! what a talent
She really is a genius. What a gal!
This lady is a fantastic guest!!!❤
Rhi slices through my very soul & set it to bleeding, crying, and soaring in pieces.
My favorite photo of her is from her video to Wayfaring Stranger.
Thank you for asking questions many of us wonder but too introverted/embarassed to ask.
Kostas started this interview at an extreme disadvantage because it required for him to be serious . What's admirable is he eventually evolved into a relatively decent interviewer.
She stands in a long line of black and white Americans who have acknowledged that rock music was a variation of, and synthesis of, rhythm and blues, gospel, and country. Elvis always talked about this, and in his '68 Comeback Special he said this to open up his 8-minute Gospel segment, which was the longest segment of the special. He also had Gospel overtones in his closing number, "If I Can Dream", an homage to MLK.
She is an inspiration on a Ritz dat B fo sho
i don’t know how many people know this but she contributed two awesome tracks in Red Dead redemption 2 sound track. i discovered her by accident from the Criterion collection version of Inside Ilewyn Davis Blu-ray. there’s a whole concert in the special feature section where she lays down two tracks that is simply amazing. she is an amazing musician
I danced in the boston run of Omar
❤❤absolutely
Miss ya Trev
Wow!
him funny great job
What an amazing, awesome human being!!! 💚
For more on this fascinating history, the podcast "Dolly Parton's America" is an amazing show!
Its horrifying, that innocent people rot in prisons for so long.
Authentic reminds me on Amy Winehouse. R I P
I'd like to see her work with my favorite musical artist, John Mayer. He's VERY misunderstood and criminally underestimated but, it seems like a lot of her thoughts around the music overlap. I'm not trying to say that he is her equal intellectually but, he is an unparalleled musical genius and they have a certain depth that overlaps even if I can imagine hers extends farther
He's "misunderstood" because he's a creep
Indigenous people get to write the story. The rest of us need to sit let them and stop taking over. Not Indigenous myself through so I should shut up.
Why does she unnecessarily make this issue antagonistic? My most classic mental image of the banjo is an old black man sitting on a chair, wearing suspenders, playing the banjo. Just because white people also played the banjo, that doesn't mean anyone denies the history of the banjo. That would be like saying that the piano is a black instrument because it was used in Jazz, and that blacks are denying its legacy as a European instrument. It's illogical. And a lie.
And why didn't she state that the guitar descended from the European stringed instruments, like the lute?
Antagonistic? Your comment is either misguided or clueless--I can't decide which....
@@anthonyhardt1994 She said in one of her interviews that White Supremacists connived in the 1930s to steal the history of the banjo and make it a white instrument. Not only is that a fever dream fantasy, it's antagonistic.
This woman is a phenom! This TDS Host is not. I can’t put my finger on why…but his vibe and delivery seem woefully inadequate for this venue.
Not the best guest host
I get what you mean, but I totally disagree because his humor style is the opposite of his content. Listen to his words - he is in awe of her...(as are we all🤩)
His arrogant, white guy presentations of money and business news are my favorite sketches on The Daily Show - so original!
Never heard of her.🤔
So delightful to watch this video. It's marvelous to get " woke" in the morning.
I had no idea of the origins of the instrument.
Her comments on following your own arrow is so appropriate regarding all creative processes.❤
Michael , outstanding interview with an outstanding individual.
I'm still not going to like country music.
