    Princess Cays is a private resort owned by Carnival Corporation that is located on the southern tip of the island of Eleuthera It is a port of call for ships from both Carnival and Princess cruise lines. Ships anchor offshore and complimentary tender boats -- or water shuttles -- transport passengers between the ship and the island.
    As your water shuttle approaches Princess Cays, you’ll be able to see several beach areas and building structures on the left side -- or North side -- of the port. You’ll also be able to see beach areas and fewer building structures on the right side -- or South side -- of the port. Although the North side of the port is far more popular, the South side is also worth visiting.

    I watched your video before our May 4 cruise, and it's spot on! Let me say that water shoes are a MUST. I took that as a suggestion, but there's really no option. Rocks EVERYWHERE in the water. We have always found a rock-less area in other ports, but not here. Buy those shoes before you embark--they're pricey on the ship and in the port. Great video!!

    I'm back for another comment! LOL! Thanks for your advice about comparing Half Moon Cay vs. Princess Cays. Our sailing (Jan 23) has changed our private island port to Princess Cays...we are back to the drawing board with our planning. We know that it will be all good, regardless!!! Looking forward to our adventure, and living vicariously through yours!

    Friends: I love to watch your informative videos over and over. They are so professional!!! I was just ready to book a cruise when the lockdown began, so I am definitely suffering from "pent-up demand." I hadn't been on a cruise ship for about 10 years. I am really to sail again! Thank you for your terrific work! I have also really enjoyed the Cruise Q's videos, also. Best to you all!

    You can also enter thru the fence where the local vendors are and they have a small bar area where you can purchase beers at 3.00 each. Lots cheaper than the other options.

    Excellent video! Two questions:
    1. Are the water shuttles wheelchair accessible?
    2. Can you use your drink package on the island?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately, there's no single answer to both of those questions. It really depends on the cruise line, cruise ship, etc. For example, the Carnival Cheers package does NOT work on Princess Cays. And the wheelchair access will likely depend on cruise line rules for crew assistance getting on/off the water shuttle. We highly recommend contacting the cruise line for the ship you're interested in to get definitive answers for that ship.

      Hi, Tina! Unfortunately, we don't have a good answer. We looked back through ALL the photos and video we have (including materials we didn't put in the video) and didn't see any "No Smoking" signs. However, we also didn't see any signs indicating it was allowed. Sorry!

  • @xykathy
    @xykathy 3 года назад +2

    That ending was not helpful. If you spend the day there and there are not enough shuttles back to the boat what happens?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  3 года назад +1

      Hi, Kathleen! There will always be enough water shuttles to get everybody back on board the ship. They definitely won't leave you on their private island. :) However, during our visit, the water shuttles continued taking passengers back to the ship well after the time specified for the "last" water shuttle. So, if you see that the time for the last water shuttle is 3:15 PM and you leave near the end of the day, you might end up waiting much later than that. Hope this helps!

    Do I have to pay for alcoholic beverages and other type of drinks if I have purchased the complete beverage package on my cruise?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  3 года назад

      It depends on the cruise company. Some drink packages can be used on the private islands and others cannot. We recommend calling the cruise company and asking their policy specifically for Princess Cays.

      @@robertb3077 You don't need an excursion, it's just a day at the beach. We just got back and had a really good time there, mostly snorkeling and relaxing on our loungers. We had a cabana which I would recommend, it made the beach day even better.

    What time are they on there and will carnival cruise provide a boat to get us to and from
    The cruise in island and what time do u Recommend leaving the island to make sure that we get back to carnival cruise in time

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  2 года назад

      Yes, there will be a boat to get you to and from the island. The time for getting to the island and the time for leaving will depend on your cruise, but the ship will make it very obvious. Crowds will also depend on your particular cruise, but we recommend heading back at least an hour before the all-aboard time to help avoid the biggest lines.

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  2 года назад +2

      Sort of. The tender boats run from/to the cruise ship on a regular basis for the entire time the ship is visiting the island. However, if a tender boat just left or there is a long line, you may have a bit of a wait to board a tender boat back to the ship. Hope this helps!

      You do not need your ID to go to the South beach. You only need your ID if you exit the gate to leave the port area. You can just walk by the gate (without exiting) to get to the South beach.

    Half moon cay or princess cay for a family with teens

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  3 года назад

      Hi, QT Jeri! It's hard to go too wrong with either one, but if you or your teens prefer swimming and/or snorkeling, then Half Moon Cay was better, in our opinion. The waters of Princess Cays had a lot more rocky areas, which made it more difficult to enjoy the swimming. Half Moon Cay also had areas specifically designed for snorkeling which a variety of fish and sea life were attracted to. If you prefer just a day in the sand and sun, then there's really not a ton of difference. Let us know if this helps or if you have any other questions!
