- Spokane police say they know who is responsible for the 1959 killing of 9-year-old Candy Rogers, making it one of the oldest cold case murders solved in Washington state.
Candy Rogers was a member of the Blue Birds, which were younger members of Camp Fire Girls of America. The 9-year-old girl set out from her home in the 2100 block of West Mission Avenue in Spokane at about 4 p.m. on March 6, 1959 and was never seen again.

I was a Blue Bird, too. Camp Fire Girls were a lot more fun than Girl Scouts. I was a little girl same age as Candy and grew up in Spokane. I had no idea this had happened. The detective is doing a good job telling about this story.
What a stellar group of detectives and investigators and all others involved who through perseverance over decades solved this case. God Bless you all.
Can’t imagine what kind of person could do something this evil
I applaud ALL that solved this. It was the great work of preserving that clothing decades ago. No one blames his family. We applaud them, as well.
What an AMAZING family to MOVE his grave. To be THAT level of evil, I fear it continued with some family members. MANY probably were relieved when he killed himself.
I wish the camera man could have zoomed in for the maps and such for us, as well. 😔
