    This is the video related to easiest way to calculate bond pairs and lone pairs on central atom.
    Trick used is very useful for ur school exam as well as competitive exam like JEE, NEET , JAM , NET and GATE exam. bond pairs and lone pairs calculation on central atom can also be used to predict geometry and shape of different molecules as per VSEPR theory. This topic covers chemical bonding of class 11 and p- block elements of class 11 and class 12.

    • @Chemistrygyanacademy
      @Chemistrygyanacademy  6 лет назад +2

      Because of valency it's counted as 2
      Chlorine and iodine has valency 1
      So count one for them

    How many lone pair of electrons are there in H2SO4 and H2SO3 ?

    • @Chemistrygyanacademy
      @Chemistrygyanacademy  6 лет назад +2

      On S in H2SO4 THERE IS NO LONE PAIR
      BUT TOTAL LONE PAIR IN H2SO4 ARE 8 (TWO LONE PAIRS ON EACH OXYGEN )

    • @Chemistrygyanacademy
      @Chemistrygyanacademy  6 лет назад +2

      On S in H2SO3 THRRE IS ONE LONE PAIR
      BUT TOTAL LONE PAIR IN H2SO3 ARE 7 ( two lone pairs on each oxygen and one lone pair on Sulphur)

    Sir how many bond pairs and lone pairs are there in NO3 nagative?
    Sir reply plz

    • @Chemistrygyanacademy
      @Chemistrygyanacademy  6 лет назад +2

      number of O - atoms attached to N are 3
      That's why there are 3 bond pairs
      Total electrons used are 6 (2 by each O)
      Total valence electrons = 5 + 1(bcoz of one negative charge ) = 6
      No electron left unshared so no lone pair
      (NO3)^1- has three bond pairs and no lone pair
      Understood!!!!

    • @RameshKumar-qo6hh
      @RameshKumar-qo6hh 6 лет назад +2

      But sir according to Lewis structure it has 4 bond pairs and 0 lone pairs

    • @Chemistrygyanacademy
      @Chemistrygyanacademy  6 лет назад +4

      You are right but remember Lewis structure counts all the bonds means sigma as well as pi bonds.
      NO3- has 3 sigma bonds and 1 pi bond.
      Total electron pairs = 4
      According to VSEPR theory
      It has 3 bond pairs bcoz VSEPR theory takes into account only sigma bonds.
      Only sigma bonds decides shape of the molecule.
      Lewis structure doesn't tell shape of the molecule but VSEPR theory does.
