    Hi Darren,
    You really are a man after my own heart. It is Christmas for me. I am a huge Jethro Tull fan. Rejoicing in the reissues... everyone of them and now the book is on its way. I tried not to peek but could not help it. Mr. Anderson is doing everything right. A man I would love to meet and can listen to this man speak all day. If I can climb Mount Everest to give a shout out to Jethro Tull, Mr. Anderson, everyone at Chrysalis, EMI/Parlaphone and now Rocket 88 for the marvelous job in the box sets and now book.... I would. The book looks sumptuous. I heard in some of the pre-release reviews that there is a download of some new music that Mr. Anderson made (a poem with some music accompaniment 2 sides from the 7 inch vinyl that comes in the Signature Edition). Either way it is a coffee table book that will have its rightful place reserved for it.
    God bless.
    Keep at it... you are one the great personalities of this medium
    Tino

    I'm really tired and judging by the picture I thought the title was the salad of Jethro Tull. Which, you have to admit, would also make for a fascinating book.

    I think it's a nice enough looking book however like many artists these days they do seem to be charging the earth for them. £40 may seem alright for a book especially in relation to the new Genesis book that costs over £200 or even the book Jimmy Page put out for £50 that contains nothing but photos and does not even give you anything to read. I myself am not a bookworm although I do enjoy reading the Jethro Tull box sets but those give you a hell of lot more for the Buck and are not just a Book that will entertain you for an hour and then sit on a shelf gathering dust which is why I cannot see where there is any real value or point in a book costing such a ridiculous price in the first place. This book should not cost any more than £20 and even at that price I would still be looking to get it at a cheaper discount. My music media takes up enough space without having books stuck on shelves taking up more of my space. But overall it's a very nice presentation but the only way I would have it is if somebody brought it me as a present, simply because I would not spend than much money on a book and no book is worth that much in the first place. I am a fan of their music but do not need my name in a book to prove it and certainly would not pay any extra to have it included or just for someone to scribble their name on it. I rather think I would have to be as Thick As A Brick so I really don't mind if I sit this one out :)))))). Nice of you to show it to us though Darren but unfortunately the price is not exactly what I would call a Tempting Turkey :)))))).

      @@TheDarrenLock I agree it is a nice presentation and that the content is really good and genuinely comes from the artist and is more of an accurate account just like he does with the new box sets that come in the form of a book of the albums. But what I love about the album box sets is that it does focus on each album in particular and this book is perhaps not going to go into that greater depth but is going to be more or less an account of the bands entire career in one space sort of thing. I do know that it is also endorsed by Ian Anderson and have seen him advertising it himself on the tube and on FB. But I personally would not shell out that sort of money for a book and the only other possible use I could think of doing with it after I have read it, is to stick it on one of my media shelves along with my music media to have on display sort of thing. No doubt books mean a lot more to other people than myself but like I said I am not that much of a bookworm.
      Funny enough I did try and be more of a bookworm a couple of years ago when I spotted some autobiographies of artists like Marc Bolan. Led Zeppelin and Elton John in some discount book shop called the Works around Christmas time. The Led Zeppelin book I picked up was as big as this book and I got it for a Tenner and the others cost me £3 each and all were hardbacks. I even picked up Greg Lake's autobiography from the same shop on hardback for £6 which had only just been released at the time and was over £20 in some stores. I read them all and found them an interesting enough read. But if you asked me where they are now it would most likely take me a couple of hours to find out which box I shoved them in and which cupboard I put the box in. In all honesty I could quite easily throw them away and I would not miss them.

    Book looks nice but do we learn anything new that's not in the individual album deluxe box sets. The information in those is excellent, so I fail to see the value in this book, if you have all the box sets. As long as they continue to include all the albums, which I understand is the intention. It's also a bit expensive, for what it is.

    • @stuartraybould6433
      @stuartraybould6433 5 лет назад

      Thanks for that. Understand about the price but for me, just a little too expensive for what it is. At least it's different and not copy and paste but having got all the deluxe editions, for me, I know all I need to know. If it had been around the thirty pounds mark I might have taken the plunge but at fifty, no. There is just too many other things/albums I need to get and only so much money to go round. Shame as it does look nice.

    Why in this book don’t appear Doane Perry , Andrew Giddings , Jonathan Noyce , David Peg and others members of the band to much more important than the current members of the Ian Anderson band , for me Jethro Tull was over in 2014 , now not interested in this band , I prefer remember Jethro Tull until the Christmas Album .

      Darren Lock's Prog Review
      It is a lack of respect to the very important members of the band , which were most influential than the current members , Ian has profited par example From A. Giddings , for his contribution to the excellent music in the album Divinities , and he is not consider a member of JT. It is not an issue if it is about me , is about all the fans of JT .

      Currently Martin Barre are having more success that Ian Anderson because he lost his voice , additionally Martin is playing with some old members like Palmer and C Bunker , why ? Because of fans . Now the Ian band doesn’t like .

      @@TheDarrenLock Yeah maybe in a legal sense, but others like Barre and Palmer have a vested interest in the Tull name because they wrote some of the material...and in the case of Barre, dedicated most of his life to the band. Ian may have been the leader but Tull would have been a very different band without some key members.
