    WOW. just wow. frustrated with my page builder (visual composer) I watched this video and I've gone from taking 2 days to try and work out how to create a video and image slider over laid with text and buttons to being able to do it in half an hour by moving to divi, one of your top recommendations. thank you SOOOOOO much. you've saved me weeks of wasting my time on the old page builder I was using. I'll be following ALL your videos and watching your back catalogue now. you star.

    Hey Party People, These are probably the most popular and most used page builders for wordpress. Let me know what you think of these builders, or share your personal experience with these page builders!( btw, i know some words are misspelled, let’s all blame my editors 😅😭) UPDATE: Themify introduces a theme builder, my opinion would change to neutral now. I would consider it now

    Divi for me ... bought the lifetime 2 years ago and never regret it ....they put real updates it's loaded with great features and lately with v.4 we had a theme builder with an incredible UI/UX plus Woocommerce Page creation ... of course Darrel i fully agree with you and i already told them about their free Layouts giveaways we feel as if they were designed by the same bored guy some are very ugly ... they should for example allow the community to upload and share their own designs to everyone or bring some fresh designers as Breezy is doing ... Anyways just wanted to thank you for all the work you're doing and sharing with the world your channel is in my top 10 list and i'm always eager looking forward to your videos on RUclips thanks again

    this is EXACTLY the kind of video I was looking for. Thank you SO MUCH for discussing ALL of them in one video so I'm not wasting HOURS watching a review for each one. I am trying to go back to Wordpress from Squarespace, not just for the cost being a lot cheaper but I really want that Blogger template and unless I paid a web designer to design a personal Squarespace template I'm just not ready for that cost either. But if I switch back I really need to use an easy page builder to "mimic" Squarespace.

    From a developers point of view I understand Oxygen's 'attacks'. If you care about things like performance and clean code -- then Oxygen is head and shoulders over the other page builders. For me, Oxygen is the only reason why I am coming back to Wordpress. I agree that it is not the most user-friendly page builder for a non-developer, but it certainly is the most designer/developer friendly page builder. It allows me to do things that I simply can't do with other page builders.
    From that perspective, things that you might consider an 'attack' are simply eye-opening and important information. I can't speak for comments on facebook, etc -- but the few comparison videos that I have seen is exactly the type of information that I need to know.
    I should note, by the way -- that I have NO affiliation with Oxygen (except for being a customer).

      Sorry for language mistakes. I have long experience with Elementor and i realized that "user friendly pagebuilder" is good for fast builded/small and not complicated projects. And one more thing ... this "user friendly builders" keeps you away from being creative ..."do everything we will allow you and nothing more and wait for next update with new feature". People dont realized that is not about the builder but "your own development" ("you use but WE!!! develop" ) Another interesting new page builder is LiveCanvas. Sorry for language mistakes.

      I’ve been looking closely at Oxygen this week. I think it’s quite amazing. This is probably the builder all real devs should be using. However, I think it’ll be v5 or v6 until us casual dummies can use it as an Elementor replacement. =) I hope that’s what Oxygen keeping doing... going after the real devs, like Webflow... (and kind of like Elon offering the Model S first) ... then eventually, once they have enough staff and refinements, open it up to a wider audience. The code it output renders insanely fast. It’s exciting!

      Actually, Oxygen is so cheap right now, I think I may pick it up to build the less complex one page sites I often have to build. Do you think that’ll be simple enough for a relatively newbie that likes to keep things simple?

    Nice review! I am DIvi user for a maybe 2 years now. I am happy how this theme builder package is developed. But now I ultra struggle with glitches, performace. Very difficult to optimise. Even if you fully optimise that I still get 4-6 sec to load page. I was working on one page site, It was nightmare to work with absolute positions especially make it responsible. I love it but just too many weird stuff is going on behind the scene. Support is fine but it's like asking someone on the street how to find something.
    And WPBakery is old builder related with Envato. WPBakery is just kept alive because of thousands of templates and strange licensing with Envato, so they not innovating the WPBakery but they focus on Visual Builder instead. :)

    Wow this was very helpful. But being the newby I am I have questions... and no wonder "Bakery" ended my desire for some of those "pretty" themes! I started to test elementor to find out my previous pages created using an installed theme broke. So if you want to use elementor or Brizy do you have to start with a specific theme. Or does it not matter the theme you have installed? I let the "theme" drive my creativity before not a specific page builder. So you first select your page builder then use that builder to create your site. It sounds like looking for a specific theme is no longer needed. But once you select the builder you want you need to stay with that builder to create all your content. You can not interchange between the WP block builder with another builder. Is this all correct? So what theme do you start with? I hope someone sees this.

    • @darrelwilson
      @darrelwilson  2 года назад

      the most important thing to look at, is what page builder do they use. Try and go with themes that use Elementor as its much easier to use the WPbakery.

    My question is in regards to html bloat. I use Elementor and when viewing the source code using Chrome "View Page Source" the page contains huge and numerous blocks of code as compared with a professionally built web page. My homepage takes just over 3 sec to load (size = 1.5 MB), mostly due to the high number of requests (52 requests). I'm wondering if the slow load time can also be attributed to the excessive html bloat. Another consideration is how efficient the page builder is at making changes to the html in the editor. Does the overwrite process increase bloat?

    Without comparing the load times between the builders of a similarly built homepage, this comparison isn't particularly useful imo. Avada, Divi, WPBakery and Thrive Architect, for example, are infamous for producing slow websites. Elementor doesn't exactly have a great reputation in that department either. It's a huge point of consideration when choosing your development tools.
    Also, I find it really weird that you would 'blacklist' Oxygen Builder just because you have a personal problem with the developers. There's nothing unusual about comparing your product to the competition - loads of companies do it and it's genuinely useful for consumers anyway. Oxygen has the very notable distinction of not drowning its pages with a ridiculous DOM size and not loading resources that are not needed for any particular page, and just being impressively fast out the box. It is to your readers' advantage to learn about it and have it mentioned in any general builder discussion.

    • @bobweb

      I knew you were in the Oxygen camp as soon as I read the words "load times" ;-) I've built numerous Divi sites that have a load time under 500ms on Pingdom with just really basic optimization (don't upload 3MB images and install a caching plugin), and I recently successfully optimized a clients Divi site who demanded a 90+ score on mobile in Google Pagespeed Insights.
      Personally, I don't like Oxygens user interface, but they do have a lot of cool features. I do own a licence btw.

      @@bobweb Oxygen isn't my preferred dev environment actually. It's great for many things, but rapidly developing many sites is not one of them. It's also plagued by bugs and the tiny development team can't address them timeously. GeneratePress + Beaver Builder is also relatively bloat-free but has far more features and fewer bugs.
      If your Divi sites are reasonably good looking and don't have Spartan homepages, then you will be the first instance I have ever encountered of a

      @@bobweb Thanks very much for the link. But I'm not convinced yet.
      According to GTmetrix, the site isn't using browser caching. The page speed scores aren't great for either GTmetrix and PageSpeed Insights, but the load times are good for Europe. That said, the site is indeed very Spartan which will be hugely contributing to where it is able to load quickly.
      I can't help but notice several cardinal design sins being committed in all those showcase images though:
      1) Paragraphs of text should never, ever be full or almost full width on larger displays. Very jarring. Even on small displays when using tiny text.
      2) All your sites need more responsive padding on the sides.
      3) Text is way too small on mobile.
      Beyond those easy to fix issues, there are much greater wider problems with design. The rate you charge on the homepage for a new build is very high by global standards, so I would recommend finding a freelance web designer on a site like Fiverr that can provide outsourced design documentation before the development stage commences.
      It would make a world of difference and help get away from that 'made in PowerPoint' vibe. And you'd quite quickly pick up on consistent design choices being used and start to rely less and less on a professional designer.

    Why not just use Wix? Or some other website builder? What is the difference between using a website Wix/Weebly/Squarespace versus a Wordpress page builder such as Elementor/Brizy/Divi? It looks like the Wordpress page builders are just copying/doing exactly what Website builders have been doing for a long time. Is it cost? Features? I think it cost less for Wordpress page builder + hosting combo compared with Wix with hosting. Hopefully someone can explain or clear this up.

    • @ChristinaMcKay
      @ChristinaMcKay 4 года назад +1

      If you use those website builders, most often you are stuck with that company. You can't just transfer your site to another hoster. And you are also stuck with the options that pagebuilder offers. You can't just add more options like you can with wordpress plugins.
      The price might be another point for some people. I am using such a website builder for some clients but always tell them the facts. I have been hosting with the same provider for 23 years now and they use Duda as a website builder, which is one of the best. You might even be able to transfer your site because some other providers might use Duda as well and they are offering hosting themself afaik. With Duda you can create awesome Websites and it is great when you only need a site with information and nothing more. There is even the possibility to use an eventplaner and a simple shop (additional high costs) but that's it.
      So it is mainly the features or lack of it and that in most cases you are really stuck with that hoster.
      But there are other things. With most of those builders you only have one login, and in general it is the same login for the whole customer account. No problem if you are the account owner and the only one working on the website. But a huge problem if you want an employee just to add some information.
      And when it comes to the price, that website builder is on 15 Euro per month. Not a lot money, considering a domain, a Digicert Wildcard SSL and 5 mail accounts are included for free as well as free 24/7 support (phone, chat and mail, and that support is great).
      But: the same features and even 100 mail accounts included is only 7 Euro for the WordPress package. And with WordPress, if you want to use another hoster, just install the plugin Duplicator and move the whole site with very low effort.

    Thanks Darrel a great review.
    I'm a self learned amateur with Word Press and I have been using Thrive Themes from the start.
    While Thrive Theme's is good I'm looking for something easier and cheaper as I pay $228 per year with Thrive so Divi's Lifetime at $249 is very compelling.
    I built my sites for multi uses, from business/selling to Church/voluntary organization and training websites.
    It sounds like Divi would be easier and faster to build with.
    However you really quickly skimmed over Massive Dynamic while highly recommending it.
    I am wondering why such a quick review and would it be suitable for multi purpose website builder?

  • @peterrondelez
    @peterrondelez 5 лет назад +10

    You should have included Oxygen. As a tech reviewer, you should be providing your audience with an unbiased overview of all the available options. Instead you're letting your personal feelings decide what is or isn't important for your audience to see. As long as the owner's behaviour doesn't directly affect the quality of the software, then that behaviour is of little importance to the consumer who's just looking for the best product for their needs.
    To be clear, I've never used Oxygen and I don't know the developers at all so I'm not speaking as an Oxygen fanboy. But from a couple videos I watched last night, Oxygen has some VERY unique features that the other builders do not which make it very useful for more advanced users. By all means, your opinion of the owner's behaviour could be a small part of a much bigger software review, but you shouldn't choose to essentially ignore the products existence as it's a disservice to your viewers. And I was surprised to hear you so openly admit that you and other reviewers etc as a group are choosing not to discuss Oxygen. That's shady.
    Anyway, keep an eye on Toolset and their upcoming Gutenberg integrations. It may not technically be a page builder as we currently know them, but for people who want to work with dynamic data, Toolset's new design features make it a visual builder for dynamic layouts which no other page builder can match at this time.

    • @peterrondelez
      @peterrondelez 5 лет назад

      By the way, I just saw the page with the sad faces you were complaining about on Oxygen's site. For those items there is a info/question mark symbol next the item name that explains why each item has a smiley/sad face. After seeing Oxygen's pricing it was pretty easy to understand the symbols. All of Oxygen's plans are lifetime, therefore they all offer lifetime support and updates... hence happy face. Divi offers a combination of lifetime and yearly, hence neutral face and finally Elementor and Beaver offer no lifetime plans therefore no lifetime support or updates hence the sad face.
      Did you honestly miss those descriptions or did your bias make you ignore them? Again, not an Oxygen user/fanboy here... I just want reviewers to be honest to their audience.

      their behavior will directly affect their customers, if they are willing to attack other companies and affiliates (closed their affiliate program right after people promoted them), they are even more likely to screw their customers over. Remember, my reputation is on the line when i recommend builders to viewers. Im not taking that risk, they screwed over all their affiliates, they slandered every software company that deals with wordpress, and their builder is extremely complicated to use and not user friendly. I would not recommend it to beginners regardless of the bias. You can learn all about oxygen on their youtube channel, just not the darrel wilson channel

      Darrel Wilson I respect your point of view but showing, just to make an example, the horrifying markup code outputted by page builders like Brizy and Elementor compared with the super clean HTML produced by Oxygen is not attacking a competitor is telling the true.

    • @moshemo613
      @moshemo613 4 года назад +2

      @@darrelwilson Their builder is a Wordpress implementation of Webflow (webflow.com/). If you come from a coding background (in particular, html and css), then the Webflow UI is tops. It's a beautiful mending of the power and flexibility of coding with the ease-of-use and speed of a good UI. In code you can do things that you just can't do with a Page Builder. On the other hand, a good page builder provides a development experience that is sometimes superior to coding. The beauty of Webflow and Oxygen is that they give (for the most part) the best of both worlds. [I should note that Webflow is more elegant in feel and experience than Oxygen, but it lacks the power of Wordpress and is much more expensive].
      So the UI really depends on where you are coming from and what you are trying to do. I much prefer Oxygen to Elementor, Brizy, Divi etc because it empowers me in a way that those tools simply can't.
      In terms of how they treated their affiliates -- I can totally understand what you are saying. I don't know the details, but it does not sound right to close a program after you get people to start promoting you.
      In terms of my experience as a customer -- it's been fine. Some of it could be better. For example, support is basically just email. However, other parts of it is great. I enjoy my lifetime license and very much appreciate their video tutorials (extremely helpful). But for me, the most important benefit as a customer has been the features that they have just added (Woocommerce and Gutenberg integration). They enable me to build sites for clients in ways that are great for me as a developer and great for my clients as a user.
      Finally, in terms of 'slandering every software company that deals with wordpress', I don't know what you are referring to. The comparison videos that I have seen between Oxygen and other page builders is spot on and important to understand. There is a lot of bloat in some of those builders -- and that effects things like site performance (which can effect customer sales, seo, etc). It's fine for someone to accept bloat in exchange of ease-of-use -- but it's also fine to point that there is bloat as a selling point. It certainly speaks to me.
      Of course, perhaps you have something else in mind -- but I personally would like to see what you are talking about. I personally do not think that a sad face in a comparison chart is slander.
      In summary -- Webflow is a developer focused theme builder whereas Brizy, Divi, Elementor et al are focused much more on the non-developer market. That doesn't mean that a developer can't use them or vice-versa, but they do have different customers in mind.

    In my opinion the elementor is best because it has a lot of features and also has a lot of 3rd party add-ons like elementor extras and jet elements crocoblocks etc, if elementor doesn't have a lifetime plan we can go with the 3rd party addons and I think crocoblocks has too many features than divi. Tooo many features. Divi introduced a new feature called woocommerce builder but Crockoblocks already launched that too much earlier than Divi.

I’m a customer of their product and others in the list in this video. What I comment is that of a customer and bystander in the blacklisting of a honestly good product. Just like Uber and the things that happened to them, people will eventually see the product as something that is good, and very useful. It will just take time because of the blacklisting several content creators have placed on the company.
