Nice compilation of the two days. Really liked the Hurley mountain veiw. Happy Easter Dave. I just read that they are receiving a nice chunk of money from the state. Good stuff!
Hello Kevin and Happy Easter! In the Hurley Mountain View you can hear the engine working harder, but the train was moving slower! I always say trains hate to climb up a hill lol. Yep, they have a lot of improvements and changes planned with the money from the state. Very happy that they want to extend the line to the rail trail and build another station there. Would be awesome to ride a future bike train to the trail for the day! Thanks for watching!
@@electrictractiontrainsandt3063Always good to put money into something that is making money. I've got to get up that way. Have a nice day Dave. 😊

🚂Hello, I came to see you🎵
@@地球同盟軍AS軍 hello and thanks for visiting! I hope you enjoyed the video’👌👍
Definitely glad to see this railroad is doing much better than what they originally had anticipated was the end of it. Hopefully Governor Hochul can give it more governmental grants through the state and bring it up to freight service with CSX, like we do here on BR&W with NS on the Jersey side.
That would be great and I would love to see that! Unfortunately, the local politicians are totally clueless! The city of Kingston ripped up all of the CMRR rails, from near where CMRR once connected with the CSX line to Kingston plaza, for another lousy walking trail! There are a hundred miles or more of sidewalks in Kingston, but they just had to destroy the tracks through most of town. Then you have the issue of the local people that don’t want to look at any factories, even if they were connected to rail! Most Ulster county residents and politicians are ignorant, and would rather see everyone working at a dollar store or fast food joint, than at a factory that pays triple that amount per hour to employees! That is a great set up that the BR&W & NS have in NJ. I am glad that there are still some rail friendly communities! Thanks for commenting!
The trail people are still trying to shut us down so they can extend their trail to kingston.
Nice catch. I didn't know that line still existed. I assume they do local freight in that region.
Thanks. Yep, portions of it are still around, including the ride up Hurley Mountain! Many miles of the line were made into a rail trail, unfortunately. The track was still in place and was torn out. That portion should have been rails with a trail next to it as there would have been room for both. The CMRR wanted to do freight, maybe, 8 years ago or more but, Ulster County would not allow it. UC owns the tracks and the CMRR leases it from them. The connection in mid town Kingston is also severed, where the old Ulster & Delaware branch joined the main line (CSX), River Line. Luckily, as of last week, the line may be extended to the Ashokan Reservoir. This would add miles to the ride, but increase ridership even more with added bike trains and a new station. This would permit the line to gain even passengers that went to walk/ bike the rail trail to park at Kingston Plaza, enjoy the train ride, the trail and then pick a latter train to head back! CMRR has a great group of volunteers that run the line. They also have many themed trains and run multiple trains, especially during the peak tourist Months.
It’s a shame we’ll never see trains pass-through Phoenicia ever again.
It is terrible! There should be trains running on the Phoenicia end too! Those mountain and creek views are amazing up there! All because of short sited Politicians! There is no reason why the rail bikes cannot use the line on certain days of the week and Catskill Mountain Railroad use it on others! Railroads are meant for trains and Ulster County could really benefit from the use of the both trains and rail bikes up there!
Super good Video!!! Thumbs Up an best Greetings
