Yeah, love it when I see improvised comedy on that level. Ben Schwartz here, does the almost impossible thing of keeping good old Stephen pretty challenged in most of that session. If you haven't looked up Craig Fergusons on Late Late show, you're in for a treat. Not all is gold, but some of it is better than gold! Like with Jeff Goldblum (but that's just an example) ruclips.net/video/uCcPjfmoJnA/видео.html

Ben gets people to play along with him and include them into bits almost every interview he does. Usually it's him turning the interview onto the interviewer asking them questions and joking, it's a real skill he's only gotten better at.
Wires got crossed, he's confusing Sonic and Elise's relationship in Sonic 06 for Shadow and Maria's in Adventure 2. Stephen Colbert knows all there is to know about the Sonic the Hedgehog series, it's just that he knows so much that trivia gets mixed up.
Fun and chaotic. He's also a fan favorite having been a guest grump a handful of times on Game Grumps. Several hours Arin, Dan, and Ben playing old games and joking around together. I recommend fans of Ben to go check those videos out.
I've already said it when the first Sonic movie released and he gave that hilarious interview with Polygon, and i'll say it again today with that incredible moment we just witnessed: regardless of how good or not the Sonic movies turn out, I wish for Ben to keep doing them as much as he can, if they keep giving him opportunities to make interviews like this ♥
This was absolutely hilarious, and how it ended was chefs kiss. Ben is so random it's ridiculous 😂😂How Stephen kept abstraight face for that ending was absolutely hilarious
No mention of 'Ecco the Dolphin'? Such a gorgeous and truly unique game - where you're a dolphin that has nothing but his sonar and a 'snout bump' to navigate his way through the oceans and fight off the darker creatures of the depths. Gorgeous soundtrack (Welcome to the Machine) and such unique gameplay (and at times terribly claustrophobic when you feel you can't come up for air anywhere).
this is the first time i’ve watched colbert since like 2016 on purpose and i am grinning ear to ear. this is almost as good as the time ‘little debbie’ was on the show
I’ve literally only ever seen Ben in Jake and Amir. I was confused why he would be on Stephen Colbert. Weird that the guy to become the most famous out of Jake and Amir was neither of them. But they’re all great! Would love to see a reunion movie. I guess I really need to watch Parks & Rec now…
We will never forget the greatest late-night sidekick after Andy, Ed, and Geoff. They are hiding the tapes. Ben and Adam are robbed of their Comedy legacy. 11/11 Saw it live.
Ben Schwartz: asks good cute trivia question Stephen Colbert: gives the worst response humanely possible, cause he doesn't give a crap about learning about the subject beforehand and lets a dim-witted intern give him notes 5 min before the interview.
i love that they learned from the last time Ben was on for a Sonic Movie related interview and played the movie clip before he came out, instead of like last time where he came out and derailed the interview so much they ran out of time to show the Sonic Movie 2 clip LMAO
the 'Yes and' energy is great from them both
Oh sure, but at what cost? At what cost! I never got to hear the amazing kindergarten first time making someone laugh story.
What the fuck is "yes and"
They need a show lol
This is unhinged and I love it. Perfect person to play Sonic.
He’s also Dewey in the 2017 Ducktales cartoon. Must’ve been a fun role for him too.
Came here to say the same. Insanely unhinged. Adored every second of it
2nd best person to play him. Can't beat Jaleel White
Agreed
Absolutely Right!!! Lov this interview😂😂
We need more improvised chaotic interviews like this. Point made, sonic is in theaters, no need for fluff and niceties.
It also gives you a sense of breakneck comedic pacing that Sonic movies are known for.
🤓

Most people can’t improvise on that level. Colbert needs to do most of the lifting for most people
Love that Stephen's such a game-day improv guy. Instantly ready to jump into a bit.
Back to his roots, absolute champ

It's crazy to see how far the Game Grumps have gotten, love to see one of them being interviewed in one of the biggest Late Night shows.
Underrated comment!
Dang he has been on GG a lot now that i think about it
Wonder how Danny and Arnold are feeling about it
I don't mean to equate Ben to the great Robin Williams, but he gives me some of that same frantic, energy during interviews that just kills every time

I get what you mean and I agree. Miss Robin dearly.
I did get the same vibe from him!
@@Wilfoeagreed!
Being good at improv and being good at doing cocaine are the same thing i guess
Love how Ben was only close to getting serious for a fraction of a second on the Maria Shadow clarification 😅
Yeah he thought Shadow was a pedophile.
@@toshtao1isn't Shadow...younger than Maria?
@@toshtao1they're more akin to siblings aren't they? They literally grew up together 💀

The sheer chaos of Stephen keeping up with Ben was incredible
The cheek peck on the commencement of Battle Under the Bridge was just 😘👌
“I have a great story about that, do you wanna hear it?”
“I’m afraid we’re out of time.”
😂😂😂😂😂
I love that part too 😂😂😂
Ben really went full pastrami on this interview, as always. He brought it.
Full pastrami!
Yes! Make Full pastrami a thing!!
Man i went full pastrami once, best of my life.
Absolute full pastrami!!
Nice brother. I’m gonna say the same thing not bc I’m a comment thief but bc we gotta do it for Ben. Let’s make it happen.
Jim Carrey deserves every last flower for his work in the Sonic films, but so does Ben Schwartz. That IS the voice of Sonic. Spot on and perfect.
He's close to Craig Smith...
Only Ben Schwartz would ramble off a bunch of Genesis games, with one of those games being QUACKSHOT
Stephen could've also!
He's Dewey!
@thejessicamorrisonof course he could Dewey that!
Ben’s chaotic energy is amazing, an absolute gem
😂😂 yea
What having ADHD feels like
Absolutely 😂
I was thinking… why am I so comfortable with this
I felt uncomfortable at how much I related to this. This is what happens when I try to run a meeting AT WORK. EVERY DAY
I do not have it but it is something to watch.
I am awful at being project lead cause of this hahaha
3:29 “I know that shadow falls in love with maria”

the way my jaw dropped when he said that 😭🙏‼️
He’s got the spirit
😂😂 Ben's face after
Why does EVERY NON SONIC FAN JUST ASSUME SHADOW AND MARIA WERE LOVERS?
This is one of the best interviews Stephen has done to date. Loved this! Ben is a loose cannon in all the best ways.
That conversation left me with a huge smile on my face. I wish I didn’t have to end ❤😂. Ben needs more than 1 segment!!
I love Ben from Parks and Rec, but he's also on Game Grumps from time to time and so hilarious and human.
He was great in The Afterparty on Apple TV and in BoJack Horseman. His improv special on Netflix is the only time improv has actually made me laugh.
5:23 Stephen's "You're never invited back!" 😂
I truly feel he meant that tho 😂😂😂
4:08 "Quick arm wrestle" **proceeds to arm/thumb wrestle for the rest of the video**
The bessssst moment was the lil smooch before the battle under the bridge 😂😂😭 Stephen is always sooooo on it, pickin up the bits
These two should go on the road with unhinged comedy improv. LOL
You should see Ben Schwartz (or any other improv) live. It's fantastic.
@GrooveMcDuck I'm an adjudicator for actors. I see improv quite a lot. I agree wholeheartedly. Improv ROCKS!
2:24 To be fair, I think Sonic would crush his 40s
He would live and learn through the knee pain
Hopefully he won't have to open his heart for surgery either
Then again Sonic is the Knight of the Wind
And so he had to reach for the stars
Fist Bump
0:53 gotta go fast
One of the funniest and most chaotic late night interviews I’ve seen in a while 😂 love their energy together
Fun and chaotic. He's also a fan favorite having been a guest grump a handful of times on Game Grumps. Several hours Arin, Dan, and Ben playing old games and joking around together. I recommend fans of Ben to go check those videos out.
5:28 "I'M GONNA WIN!" The JOY on Ben's face ahahahaha
That guy looks exactly like my milkman and my couples therapist!
That's weird; guy sold me a house! Now I live in a god-damn muffin.
You have a Milkman?
I think his name is Cherry Dude!
I hope they’re the same guy
Is your milkman also your couples' therapist??
4:07 “Quick arm wrestle”
Spends the rest of the interview arm wrestling.
This was incredible.
I have legitimately waited two years just for this intereview
snugboy spotted (also same)
@ LMAO
This was nearly 8 minutes of pure chaos and I loved every single minute 😂❤
Man, Ben really tests Stephen's improv skills! I actually love how frenetic and ridiculous this is, it doesn't come off as cringy at all, it's so fun!
Actually really liked the little Green Hill motif at 1:23. So weird for a big time talk show to have something like that haha
I truly feel Ben Schwartz has made Stephen work out the most he had all year 😂
Ben went full pastrami with the addition of a thumb war under the arm wrestle. Battle Under the Bridge!
Stephen NEEDS a cameo in Sonic 4. He bounces off of Ben so well
His energy is so chaotic and I am so here for it!
Ben Schwartz on Comedy Bang Bang is some of the best Ben Schwartz. Worth watching
SOLO BOLO!
He also looks just like Rodney Waber.
Bang bang into your mouth!!
He's Deweying it...
Ben Schwartz is 100% going to get his own talk show one day.
Loved this interview so much that I went back and re-watched their first interview. For Sonic 2. Absolute magical improv energy from these two.
Under 20 seconds from start and I googled 'is Ben Schwartz hyperactive?'
Watch him in Parks and Rec, most of his stuff is ad lib and amazing
3:42 - no one in the audience knows what an awesome improv tangent Schwarz cutoff at the knees there. I feel robbed.
Sent me right into the throws of Middleditch and Schwartz when he started doing that
@ totally. Especially the wedding one I think
@ or actually one of the ones before the Netflix special but I can’t put my finger on it. Time to rewatch everything
@ where can I find pre-Netflix special takings?
@ search The Earliest Show
5:21 "You're never invited back" LMAO

Quackshot seems more aesthetically suited to this interview though.
Don't forget Phantasy Star II and IV, two of the best Genesis games!
Colbert really bringing that chaotic Sean Evans/Hot Ones energy. All his interviews should now include Battle Under the Bridge.
This may have been my favorite interview he's ever done.
This was AMAZING! The duo I never knew we needed 😂🥰😭
How enthusiastic is this guy! 😊👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Funny how Ben mentioned "Quackshot: Starring Donald Duck" given that he also played Dewey in DuckTales 😉
Quackshot is from 1993. Nice try...
@@danerd8978 That's still starring Donald Duck who was both in the Original DuckTales Series & The Remake which even referenced The Older NES Game.
Awe the kissies was so endearing! ❤️
It looks like Ben is breathing a thin stream of fire toward a specific spot Steven is pointing to on his desk in the thumbnail.
Such a positive energy interview. Loved it. Could watch 10 hours of it!
I love Ben Schwartz on late night, he always forces the hosts to play improv with him. 😂😂😂
Pure unadulterated chaos and i love it. 😂
I can't believe John Raplhio is Sonic. Amazing.

Gotta love how the Late Show band is keeping up with them the entire entrance.
Ben is even more energetic than Sonic! And its infectious!
This might be my most favourite interview EVER
I could use about 19 more minutes of this full pastrami hilarity.
We just witnessed Steven’s replacement.
💯
Two of the best in improvers having a time - gotta love this combo!!!!!
He deserves his success. I remember him on high times back in 08. Come a long way since then
From Gamegrumps to Colbert. Gotta love Ben’s press tour priorities

Ben Schwartz is an absolute gem. I wish I could harness that energy, bottle it and become alarmingly dependant on it as a coping mechanism.
Legitimately might be my favorite interview of all time. TAKE NOTE HOLLYWOOD!

Such fun filled joy between these two, reminds me of Mr. Colbert and Josh Brolin.
If the late night shows invited Ben to be literally every guest every single night, I think ratings would go up for at least a year.
Ben Schwartz: asks good cute trivia question
Stephen Colbert: gives the worst response humanely possible, cause he doesn't give a crap about learning about the subject beforehand and lets a dim-witted intern give him notes 5 min before the interview.
I’ve been a fan of Ben since jake and Amir. I love the chaos he brings to interviews when “promoting” stuff 😂
You can always count on a Ben Schwartz interview to be wholesomely chaotic. This was so exception.
This energy is perfect for Sonic
If you look up improv in the dictionary it's just a picture of Ben Schwartz
That was insane and I loved every second of it

Oh, he's in the text book.
I can't not watch Ben Schwartz! So glad he's on a press tour right now so we can enjoy more Ben content! 😁

Ben was definitely channeling Jean Ralphio in this interview. Ha! How this guy doesn’t have his own hit show is beyond me! 😂😂😂
