      I don't think your car has a carburetor.

      Car with carburetors stopped being manufactured in the US about 30 years ago due more emissions regulations. If your car is less than 30 years old and you want to understand how it gets it fuel then this video is a great place to start. The carburetor is the simple version of what is in your car, and is very helpful to understand how these work before learning what'sin a modern car. To understand what's under your hood, check out videos on car engine air intakes, car engine throttle bodies, car fuel pumps, car fuel rails and car fuel injection.

    In an aircraft, closing the throttle valve increases the effect of the venturi, lowering pressure further and thus temperature. This is why carb heat is applied at low engine power.
    In this video, lower air pressure is ascribed to an open throttle valve.
    I am having a hard time reconciling these two.

    If the choke causes less air would this not also result in less fuel (venturi effect)?

    Where is the air coming to keep the engine running at idle? Is the throttle just partially open at all times?

    • @ADTWstudy
      @ADTWstudy  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, the throttle valve is opened partially to provide an adequate air-fuel mixture, ensuring the engine continues to operate smoothly.

    Hi, I have a question, how does throttle valve position affects the amount of air in the venturi; 3:00-3:50

    • @jackjack06
      @jackjack06 9 месяцев назад +1

      I know you asked this 6 months ago, and probably don’t care anymore, but closing the throttle slows the air-fuel mixture from escaping to the engine, and does not move out of the way for new air to come in. It’s like a traffic, imagine 6 lane highway went down to one lane, incoming traffic would come in slowly

    • @brunodragas8661
      @brunodragas8661 9 месяцев назад

      @@jackjack06 well I still haven't got the response so I care haha, thanks. If I got this right, basically, the air slows down due to a less space for travel and it somewhat gets clogged so less air gets through?
