  • In this episode I will fit the new timber ceiling in the kitchen area to give us a flat and level area to reboard and skim. I will also go through some dos and don'ts if you are doing this job for yourself.

    The Electrician's Guide to the building Regulations (from The IET) is a great reference as regards making holes in joists. From memory it also discusses pipes and ducts.

    That will look great when plastered Richard. Rather an elegant solution to an uneven ceiling 👍👍👍

    Job is coming on nicely Rich. Still no bridging in the floor joists for additional structural support ?? Rock on, keep the vids coming pls, it's a pleasure to watch a professional being so proud of work that is going to be covered up !!

    Lighting wise I like to fit ultra slim led tube lights behind the hanging cupboard plinth. That way I have continuous, even, light directly over the work surface and I'm not so worried about casting a shadow on the work top.

    I know you didn’t put the floor joists in but they should have had herringbone noggins midspan.
    They would have stiffened the floor quite considerably.

    Love watching each of your videos, just wish every tradesman took the same care and attention as you and your team do. Some of the notching in those old joists look to be about half the depth. Did you patch any of those by sistering them?

    • @mrabuilders6723
      @mrabuilders6723  4 месяца назад +1

      I did patch some of them yes but didn’t show cos I did it before the insulation went in and the 1st fix sparky had finished. 👍🏻

    Another great video! Would it not have created more floor space not having a cupboard under the stairs? Although practical to have, how many tins of soup do you really need?! If you get my drift.
    Can’t wait for the next video!!

    I have the same laser level and the reciever is annoying at times as you need it absolutely bang on to register it in the centre

      Hi Tom. Yes mate you’re right it is a great laser but it’s almost too precise. However, like I said in the video if it’s bouncing between up and down it can’t be far off at all. Thanks for the comment mate enjoy the rest of your day. 👍🏻

      @@mrabuilders6723I should also say that I have also used shadow foam in a packout organiser to house the level, receiver and it's accessories.......I know I know I'm sad but at least it's safe 😂

    Hi lived in my house for number of years and we found a lot problems . And in the kitchen one day the ceiling started coming away from the timber above who had our house before us had put a new ceiling in just screwed through the old ceiling and where not fixed into nothing that why it came down and why it last so long .

    I'm in my fifties (who cares) and I still have nightmares with expanding bolts. They hate me. I'm going to use resin in future. Good job gents.

    • @mrabuilders6723
      @mrabuilders6723  4 месяца назад

      The thought did cross my mind but because of the legs I dropped onto the new ceiling joists off the old ones I decided that would be more than adequate for this plus I’d got the timber and no chemical resin. Thanks for the comment mate 👍🏻

    Spot on video Rich, so much better than Ads presenting, 😂 dint tell him I said that. 😅 out of interest what was the digital measurer you use and how accurate is it buddy.

    • @mrabuilders6723
      @mrabuilders6723  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for the comment mate it is a Hilti measurer but not sure of the model number. It is very accurate and I’d definitely recommend it but I think you have to get them calibrated very so often so I may have to look into that 👍🏻

      There has to be a certain amount of ‘gassing’ to explain to people that know absolutely nothing the reason why I do things. If you’d prefer to watch someone that doesn’t talk at all then head over to CAV joinery channel you may enjoy his videos more. All the best
