great video! I think you teaching and sharing are excellent. Keep it up. I still want to to see some landings and takeoffs from your home strip. You showed a short one a while back. Show more.
I actually will post a take off in the cub from this morning, it will be a 360 video. I was going to do one of Bushwacker landing this morning but forgot to turn on the camera
Again another great video! Really like you talking us thru what’s happening.....I learn a lot and appreciate what you and the plane are doing. Talk about power, brakes, flaps, airspeed etc. The 360 videos are working great for me on my smart 72 in tv. Wow! Please don’t stop.
Another fantastic video Greg , Really enjoy watching and Listening To you , also great to hear some one Talk about the real weight of there Planes Flying , that's what matters. Cheers from Canada.
Long time Maule lover...and love your videos..Im guessing you put heel brakes on to match the cub but I have always prefered toe brakes even though I learned on heel ones..I like you changed over to stick instead of yoke..Its about time to see some really flying instead of doing STOL contest...thanks
The joys of sand bar flying. You may have been in the dog box but all ended well. That undercarriage has quite a lot of travel looking back at the slow mo. Wonder how that would compare to the ACME set you're getting. Nice video.
Love how you explain the differences in your airplanes. I hear a lot about the SuperCub/Maul wars and I would like to know the actual differences between the two. If you could do side by side footage of both planes to specific sites that would be cool to see
And then there are variations between different super Cubs and different Maules. Greg's Maule is not your garden variety Maule. There are so many different aircraft we'd all like to see compared. It would make for a great full length feature film. I still believe that the Bearhawk 5 lightly loaded would be the best compromise in a comfortable x-country capable off airport kind of bird. We shall see.
Thanks for the comparison btw the SC and the Maule. I've never flown a super cub but regular cubs and Maules aren't the same animal. You're blessed that you get to play with both. I've always said airplanes are like girl friends: you need a different one for every occasion.
Hey Greg, Would a variable pitch prop with Beta give Bushwaker enough thrust to reverse in the situation where the left tire slid off? For example, if you built the gravel ramp behind the tire that slid off, and were able to reverse, it would at least avoid having to dig out the bank underneath the wing. Just another one of my bad ideas :)
Great to see the new Bushwacker footage Greg. Glad you got her back in action. It was nice to see the little bit of cockpit footage...I now realize just how close and ergonomic everything is. Great design/mod on your part. So do you think the Cub will slow down as good with the PSTOL flaps or will Bushwacker always get slower because of the sheer length of the flaps? The edits are awesome by the way...they keep getting better. I would like to see some from the spectator perspective like the DVD's when you get a chance to use a camera person as well.
The cub will fly almost as slow with the stock round tip wing and double slotted flaps. It will probably be around 39-40 mph with them in a wheel landing. Bushwacker is around 37-38 mph in a wheel landing at sea level. The visibility out of Bushwacker is where it really shines over most Maules and even Super Cubs. Most guys have there seats in a Maule so low you need a periscope to see over the instrument panel:)). I have to duck down to look out the sides because my head is above the bottom of the wing inside. It makes landing and seeing where you are going great.
Hey Greg, any idea how close you are getting to some of these trees on your approach? At 4:56 it looks like you’re counting eggs in nests. If it looks tight on camera, I can only imagine what it looks like in person!
@@WhatsupZak Sorry about that, I should have just left it at "he knows how big his plane is!" Single digits feet would be my guess, and not many of them, so your question makes sense for sure.
I am several feet away. I have been known to get a wing tip in the branches on occasion. I try not to now that I have shinny black paint. When it was camo it did not matter as much. It will put dents in the leading edge if the branches are more then just small twigs...:))
Awesome! Great work! Both of your airplanes are incredible. Does bushwhacker ride any better in turbulence due to the heavier weight or is it about the same due to the bigger wing? Also, holy moly, those rocks in the slow mo! No wonder so many tail feathers and tailwheels get messed in off airport rigs!
Curious. You say the maule lands slower than the cub. Why do you suppose? Better airfoil? Better flaps? More wing surface area? Since the maule is 200 lbs. heavier, I would think the cub would fly slower.

What bush pilots do is flying. The rest of us are just cruisers. Love your videos. Again I always learn something new. Thanks.
Great unspoken shout-out to our favorite camping island in the closing moments of yet another great video. May the Swift be with you.
Thanks again
Always welcome

Glad you like them!
Yet another fine video! Funny, I was hearing AC/DC in my head when Bushwhacker was getting on it! 🤠👍
Cool

These videos are to cool awesome to see how far someone can push aviation
Thank you
Best landing advice ever!
Love your videos there so good keep them up, You are one amazing pilot very skilled!!!!!
Unbelievable, I never thought that landing and getting up in the air again might be possible in such terrains!
OUTSTANDING!
Another Great Video. Thank you.

Hopefully I will soon find out.
Are you going to be flying hunters in these areas this season?
I got to tell you, I don't think I'll ever forget the name "Bushwacker"
Forget the prop whacking bushes, Greg had to get out and dig to keep that wing above ground. haha!
@@carveroutdoors That must have been a sight to see!

I might try and do that. Thanks for the idea.

Totally agree
Great stuff as always
Glad you enjoyed it
it's all part of the adventure
Or even better, Pearl Jam Black. Interesting comparisons and good food for thought 💭 not food 🍲
Thanks for giving me ideas

Doesn't really matter how close, as long as it's not TOO close. He definitely knows how big his plane is!
Definitely not trying to bash, I’m genuinely curious,

Can Bushwacker's current shocks be adjusted, internally and/or externally? Thanks for sharing another great video!
No, They are old school like and AOSS with a slight twist on that design

I think they are about the same, bigger wing on Bushwacker and vs the stock round tip cub wing.

Bigger flap( and better flap) and more wing area.

do you have an auto pilot on either bushwacker or your super cub?
