They have every right to start wailing again. They stopped on their own they were not ordered to and that was with an agreement that when the population recovered they could once again continue the tradition. And I believe the EPA as agreed and said yes the population has recovered enough. Isn't it time we keep our promises to the indigenous people of this country
Wailing is what others are going to do, but don't consider that they do not cut the head off a chicken, skin it or pluck the feathers off it before they cook it. While I can also go whaling, I do not as it's far easier for me to go to Costco/Safeway as I don't have others to do so. Some may want to disregard treaties when it doesn't benefit them. Many might not have driving that highway out to Neah Bay. Not sure about anyone else, but credit to those big rig drivers who do. Only one store there that I saw. Very different from being in the I-5 corridor.
They have every right...just like fishing and hunting deer, elk...it's a big part of their people and to teach the young ones their tradition...u may be against it...and that's ok... because we're not here for your feelings...
@@dogguy8603it's more a concern for the safety and sustainability of the whales than it is tribal rights I absolutely support tribal rights but we already had whales nearly go extinct so let's not do that again when we have plenty of deer moose and elk
@Huskyzilla there is hardly a concern for whales, it's called a sustainable harvest, the makah tribe isn't gonna be hunting hundreds of whales each year
I am all for tribes teaching traditional ways, but power boats and harpoon cannons are NOT traditional. If it's all about upholding traditions, then paddle out there and hand throw your harpoons, otherwise it is just whale murder. Stop using tradition as an excuse for what would otherwise be seen as crappy behavior, and that goes for everyone, not just this exact situation.

A big no
Tribal treaty rights, cope
@@dogguy8603 Don't care. Cede land to them instead. Whales are off limits.
That’s right, Treaty Rights! Article 6, backed by US Constitution and the Boltd DECISION!
COPE!

The tribe was required to use a. 50 caliber rifle in order to recieve the permits , it was put on them
The hunt was the tradition not the tools of hunting.
You're kinda simplistic.
