A lot of people who watched Emelia Perez do not realize that Karla also played the leader of the cartel. They assumed that her role began after her character’s transition. so I think that the studio pushed her for lead so that people were unaware of how large her role is in the film. All of that said, I’m kind of blown away by how much love this film is getting. I didn’t hate it as much as some, but those who thought it was one of the five best films this year or living in a totally different universe from me.

Nominating Karla, in lead ACTRESS, when she's strictly supporting certainly taking a slot away from an ACTRESS, not an ACTOR.What did I miss in this awful film? A musical about the drug cartel, it was confusing, uneasy and unwatchable.
A lot of people who watched Emelia Perez do not realize that Karla also played the leader of the cartel. They assumed that her role began after her character’s transition. so I think that the studio pushed her for lead so that people were unaware of how large her role is in the film. All of that said, I’m kind of blown away by how much love this film is getting. I didn’t hate it as much as some, but those who thought it was one of the five best films this year or living in a totally different universe from me.
