We are already seeing the effects of AI on the job market sadly. Some of my friends are looking for work, but all they can find are Jr. positions even though they are Sr. engineers. When they ask the companies about it, the companies have said that AI is helping entry level employees perform closer to Sr. level employees, but they are a fraction of the cost. I imagine in the next few years we'll see a salary squashing effect. That will suck for those of us already established in our careers. It will mean an inability to pay your home loans etc. as your salary falls.
Yes. I was a web designer/developer for the marketing department and I can literally do all of their jobs now from head of Marketing to web server maintenance. When I was too busy to draw illustrations for the website or newsletter I used to buy the art but n ow I can use AI to make it. If I were still working there I would make an avatar of the CEO and use Eleven Labs to make social with her face and voice all with her just approving the video. The writing would be sampled by ChatGPT from her own writing to make her speak on new topics.
Yeah, keep chasing after an outdated model. You need to be fighting for a UBI or a different economic system...otherwise, well, you're a moron if you can't figure out what comes next.
It's more than that, for example myself tried to hire software developers as an independent technician to help me develop something. Failed bad with three different engineers. Ended up learning myself to use AI and learn to code and I'm very close to finishing everything (backend and frontend) from not even knowing 99% of what I know now at the beginning of the year. I also noticed a good software developer stayed away and bashed AI for a while. The way forward is to up your skills and get ready for the AI agents wave for next year and my advice is to start something on your own. You can easily find a few local business and become their own software developer, with AI any experienced engineer should be able to provide top notch services to probably 10-15 small businesses. Personal advice, don't get discouraged about coming changes, up your skills and find ways to empower yourself and others around using AI and you'll be golden.
@@TechnoMageCreator I agree in part. Where I would disagree is the timeframe. For the near term I agree completely with your assessment. Where I'll agree to disagree is the 10+yr out range. Unlike other industrial revolutions in the past, where new jobs were created to replace the old, this one will eventually replace any job that might be created as well. I think we're going to have to completely redefine what it means to work, or earn a wage. It will be a dark transitionary time with extremely high unemployment regardless of what approach the govt. takes.

That's not how any paralegal would use chat gpt. Obviously they would review the info, and verify the sources before using it.
