I think this person disguised herself as an employee before the takeover to understand what was "broken" about the company's practices, at least in her eyes. Once, she'd accomplished her stealth mission and learned all the "weaknesses" and the "bad" employees, she undertook what must have seemed like trimming every unnecessary aspect of the original company. Also, it's fairly common for newer owners to prioritize quick returns after taking over a company, since that could attract more investors, raising cash from stock sales and lowering the owner's personal liabilities. I think she was one of those people who was looking to maximize the profit-making potential of the company over a short period of time and then selling it to a bigger company for a massive profit.
Probably witnessed business functions but I don't think she would have wanted people to try to befriend her beforehand. Seems like the type to elevate herself above the workers in personal mindset not just on a business level.

The new boss coming in and immediately canning older and experienced staff in favor of training up lower tier and new hires up for hourly rates was the first nail in the company's coffin.
Love your channel, rslash. The employee with the idiot new owner struck a chord. I was fired for ‘misconduct’, and after I applied for unemployment it was upped to ‘gross misconduct’ so I wouldn’t even get that. It had been my manager’s job to get me to quit for four years. I loved my job, I loved my fellow employees (except for the one old crone she turned to The Dark Side), and I was GREAT at my job. I STILL can’t understand why, but they f****d with me, so I filed suit the day after I was finally fired. I won, and it still hurts to the bone.
Some businesses believe that they can get someone else to do the same job for much less. Not sure why, but they do. Alternatively, or relatedly, certain owners and managers feel like they are personally the reason why the business is successful and their egos cannot abide any super competent employees because that would get in the way of their delusion that the owner/boss is the sole reason why things work.
Rslash changed "less" to the grammatically correct "fewer" in his narration. ("Fewer" is correct for something that can be numerically counted, like hours.) LOL, love it! We grammar nerds have to stick together.
The best way to deal with kids like that is to gaslight them that they stink. Sniff the air, state that "something stinks," then sniff around them before stating, "It's you. You stink." Every time they are around make the something stinks face while staring at them. The will slowly grow so subconscious about "stinking" that it will make them keep their distance from you. Rinse and repeat.
I’m so glad to wake up to this you make me start my day in a good mood even when it’s hard thank you I’m a veteran to your channel and hope you keep making content!!
Don't pull the "don't like it, leave" line on somebody if you cannot handle either outcome happening - inviting the cook to leave and then being outraged that he does exactly that is pretty thick. Some people seems to lack the ability to handle the outcomes of their own word. Only an idiot issues an ultimatum and isn't prepared for both of the obvious outcomes...
Pretty much basic negotiating - don't issue ultimatums if you can't live with either outcome. But when people treat it as a tactic where they have all the leverage, they better be damn 100% sure they know which way the other side will go. And even simple pride or spite can mess that up so 100% certainty is impossible.
13:30 Reminds me of a line from Monstrous Regiment, there is a whole story but it ends up as "take the cheese because the kisses don't last." If people are offering you jobs in that moment, take the best one rather than the praise and promises of later offers.
When it comes to saving money to quote an old boss of mine "customers won't notice A reduced to B, but they will notice when A is incrementally reduced to F."
Why greedy bosses ruin good business? And a better question, why OP's boss thought that stunt of lies will work to fire OP? Even an ape could know a 12 years old employe knows his rights and labot laws.
Thats an old classic. Buyers who purchase a company with the intent to finance the takeover by stripping the company of assets, increase the upmark on the products into the stratosphere and fire the employees with the highest salaries, while at the same time expecting them to train those who are hired to replace them. I have seen this tactic from large corporations down to people buying a gas-station. No wonder good workers are so fed up by corporate America?
It's worth noting for any business owners that job security is what employees are actually getting from you, not a paycheck. If you cut and fire employees on a whim or to save a little cash, everyone else who works for you is gonna realize that they cannot rely on this job because the same could happen to them, and either leave for a job with more security, or pursue their personal goals and dreams because if they aren't going to get paid enough, why should they not get paid enough in a job that makes them miserable?
My cousin is a mom and she doesn't raise her kids either, the oldest is very spoiled (the youngest too young to do anything). They keep saying that the oldest is never "like that" when they're alone, but they don't try to stop the behaviour either.
See, I'm petty AF and would absolutely scream back at the kid every time I got screamed at. Same tone, same words. But there's always that pesky double standard that says I can have the cops called on me over it.
Why on earth does anyone with even 2 brain cells think that the way to boost a struggling business is to increase the cost to the consumer? When has that EVER been a workable solution? 🤪
I had hands-on discipline, if I spoke to my parents as a kid the way these ones do now, I wouldn’t be able to sit down and be grounded for at least a week! Now it makes my blood boil when I hear young kids swearing at their parents.
I loved that last story. If you don't like it then leave. Okay, bye. Never give someone an ultimatum unless you are willing to live with the consequences.
The long story always make me laugh for the single detail that the boss thought it was a good idea to hire THE FRIEND OF OP AT HIS POSITION. What did she expected to happen ? "You want me to take the job of my best friend that I am seeing you're mistreating, not only that but with a lower salary and worst advantages ? Where do I sign ?"
Comment direct at the last story. As someone that that spends a good amount of time in the kitchen on turkey day (assuming it was thanksgiving based on context) and I put in a lot of effort. My mom trusts me in the kitchen and I enjoy seeing people’s faces when they eat the food. If I had that treatment, I’d get the f out too. Also, I know a whole lot of people that would be much more grateful for a great meal on that day because they either don’t have much/good family or they didn’t have the funds to travel to visit their family. That turkey would in my case, and probably did in this case, go to deserving loved ones, instead of entitled family members that don’t appreciate their family members. I’d “crash” a “friendsgiving” and show up with an extra main dish.

No-win no-fee basis was the best line in this whole video. Man that was so satisfying
I hear Rslash's voice so much he now sounds like a close friend
I love it when people actually prove the doctrine "play stupid games, Win stupid prizes!" it brings a smile to my face LMAO!
"Quit that family cold Turkey" made my daaayy
Ah yes i love dinner and malicious compliance !
Same
Yeah. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Quite literally.
One of the most important qualities you need to have running a business is the ability to know who is most important to your success.
Should've been, "if it ain't broke, don't fire it!"
That cold turkey joke got me 😂
I'm a sucker for puns and dad jokes
Boss: Take lower pay or I'll fire you.
OP: Okay. I'll take unemployment while looking for a better job.
Boss: Wait. That's not how you play the game.
Oh no.. he is a father now.. his dad jokes are getting stronger.
I’m so glad to wake up to this you make me start my day in a good mood even when it’s hard thank you I’m a veteran to your channel and hope you keep making content!!
actually in the business realm that saying is actually "if it ain't broke, then fix it until it is"
"Cold turkey" Good one rSlash ;)
R/slash comes out at 9 am for me, time to listen to Reddit while working
That meeting OP had with the manager boiled my blood
When it comes to saving money to quote an old boss of mine "customers won't notice A reduced to B, but they will notice when A is incrementally reduced to F."
I was half expecting the OP in the second story to tell the uncle to just cook chicken nuggets for Thanksgiving 🤣
I like to think the uncle couldn't get another turkey in time and had to cook chicken nuggets instead
Here on Handyman’s Corner, our motto is, if it ain’t broke, you’re not trying
Goddammit rSlash, that turkey joke....
10/10. Goddammit 🤣
Just wanna thank r/slash for being the most consistent thing in my life. If I can’t watch his vid in the morning I have a bad day.
I have a very strong feeling that you included that second story for the sole reason of including that dad level pun...
Really thought this was just gonna be the one story, but that last extra story was hilarious.
14:47 That’s the kind of thing you would get slapped in the face for screaming at anyone
everyday when i'm in the bus after work, there's a new video, love it
When a company offers to pay for you to better yourself with education, how could you possibly say no?
Why greedy bosses ruin good business? And a better question, why OP's boss thought that stunt of lies will work to fire OP? Even an ape could know a 12 years old employe knows his rights and labot laws.
Both great stories. Loved the no nonsense approach of the 2nd!
fake storys be like
op: awsome in every way
my power is out so I need something to watch while my phone is face down and torch up. this is perfect! thank you!
The best example I have of a company that tried cutting costs to stay afloat while tanking the company is Sears. We all know how that story ended.
i wake up a 9 am just to sip coffee and listen to rslash
rSlash makes the hottest summer days cooler, I love the episodes and I can binge-listen to them for HOURS in a day❤️
I have never grinned as hard as I did listening to these stories today
It's worth noting for any business owners that job security is what employees are actually getting from you, not a paycheck. If you cut and fire employees on a whim or to save a little cash, everyone else who works for you is gonna realize that they cannot rely on this job because the same could happen to them, and either leave for a job with more security, or pursue their personal goals and dreams because if they aren't going to get paid enough, why should they not get paid enough in a job that makes them miserable?
I love listening to r/slash on my morning commute.
The most important rule I will follow if I pursue entrepreneurship:
"IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!"
ah man that cold turkey line was comedic genius
The cold turkey joke was so bad that it caused me physical pain
Literally listen to you everyday before class. Your stories put me in a good mood :) lol
My cousin is a mom and she doesn't raise her kids either, the oldest is very spoiled (the youngest too young to do anything). They keep saying that the oldest is never "like that" when they're alone, but they don't try to stop the behaviour either.
Why do these new bosses don’t think “this company already works, let’s keep that and make small changes to make sure we can still succeed?”
If I woke up to a child screaming in my face, I would've launched that child into the next stratosphere.
You could say you quit that family... ::puts on sunglasses:: ...cold turkey.
Okay, that cold turkey joke was the best kind of terrible...
"It's our house, if you don't like it leave"
I would have left, but not before screaming into that uncle's ear since the house rules allowed it.
I hope the kid changes because if you want to try and pull that in the real world he would either get attacked or verbally attacked
Nothing beats Tea and RSlash
Some children need hands-on discipline. So do some parents.
Reminds me of" here comes those horrible people and their rotten kids". Raising children people hate.🐣
But Destroying Toxic Boss Life Is Prorevenge Right??
Wtf was OP delivering "in a specific way" that could be so pricey and have better quality and sh*t? This is making me really curious.
Love the dad joke you tossed in at the end.
Aa
My dude you for got the quotations on “accidentally” no way in hell was that an accident lol
I wonder how the new boss got money to buy the business in 1st place with such horrible management skill of a company
