I guess "underrated" will always be subjective, but... Yeah. 1,2 million monthly Spotify listeners as we speak. To put things in perspective, another Fantano favourite (Lingua Ignota) is slightly below 60 000...
If a song like Pirate Radio is the weakest song on an album, then you have a god damn masterpiece on your hands.

@@snoozley853 10 would mean it’s perfect. a masterpiece doesn’t = perfection. you’d just have to appreciate him as an artist to understand why i said it’s a masterpiece. even if critically it can’t be rated as a perfect 10.

three heads had the best rift but by far the worst bridge on the whole album. really killed the momentum of the song for me

I’ve been riding w Jean since bad sports. I remember hearing 90s green screen for the first time and having it open a door to a whole new world of music for me. After pixel bath came out; with songs like power freaks, shiner, and pyrotechnics, I was convinced that Jean was possibly the most fascinating characters in the music industry. Then he dropped the song MENTHOL* and he shot up to being one of my favorite artists of all time. My expectations for this album were sky high, and all of the singles before it were instantly added to my playlist and on repeat. Especially three heads and Sick of it. Some how, Jean found a way to surpass my expectations. HUH, 0-Heroes, and Glory are up there with his best tracks ever. This man reminds me everyday why I love music so much. I totally understand the 7, but for me this is a 9, Along with bad sports. Pixel bath being an 8. Keep growing and going nuts Jean, see you in Minneapolis on the 6th🤘🏼

GLORY*, BAD FRUIT* and SCREW FACE* are so good. Most interesting album I've heard this year, very beautiful. I hope Jean continues to not stick to one style and really perfects his way to mix all these genres together. ✨🚀
Jean has been my favorite artist since Pixel Bath and I love this album just as much. A few songs missed the mark but most of the album still shows his mastery over this blend of genres that I have yet to see replicated.
I felt the same way but after listening to it for a few weeks I gotta say it's super strong all around.

This album stunned me with how cohesive it all was while at the same time bouncing off every conceivable wall. I was already a fan of some of Jean's songs but this whole album will be on my stereo for the next few months.

Best album I heard all year. So creative and each song has an identity but a consistent sound throughout the entire album.
I fell in love with THREE HEADS* immediately after the intro as it's extremely reminiscent of 90's Polish rock on which I grew up despite being a 2000's kid, all thanks to my dad. The intro riff instantly brings back Perfect and most importantly Lady Pank which I to this day consider one of the best Polish rock acts to have ever existed. It's a bit of a shame that the track has such an underwhelming bridge
I love the riffs on THREE HEADS* personally, but I can get where you are coming from on that one. I just got into Jean and haven't stopped listening since, something about his music has such a grip. BAD FRUIT* is my favorite off the new one, just great!
How did this man drop the perfect summer album in October?
I like ur view on this album a lot Anthony, I agree with a lot of what was said but Idk why but I just really like the song pirate radio. I think it's due to his take on genre being not as generic as other takes on the genre that I've heard and it was kinda nice to hear him sing more melodically over a relaxing instrumental that somehow kinda tied the album together. It felt like a wholesome and oddly nostalgic ending for a brand new album. But I love the content Anthony, keep up the great stuff man. Much love ❤️
Jean dawsons music just hits my soul different, it just connects with me in ways I haven't experienced with other music, and I don't really know how to put a finger on it
Honestly this is definitely my favorite album of this year and I really like the different styles Jean takes in some of these songs, I can go from breaking my neck to head banging on Porn Acting to flying in space to songs like pirate radio and bad fruit.

Fantastic album. Been a fan of Jean for a while now, I think overall I'd still put Pixel Bath a little higher than this but that might just be down to it having two years to grow on me.
I just heard bad fruit for the first time and yeah, this guy is really good. I'll be checking more of his stuff out.

Light 9 but then again I am not one that gets how album flow really works unless it is just inherent to the album. I love the chaos of it I like the weird transitions, it keeps things very interesting and textured.

Super dope video anthony I saw your interview with this artist and I listened to a couple of his songs since you talked about them on your tracks of the weeks videos and I thought they were ok but nothing to mind blowing to me so I was gonna skip this album but I was like na just listen to it william and I'm so glad I did because I really loved 7 out of the 12 songs on this album and I will be listening to them for a long time to come 🙃

Imma big Jean Stan but I agree with Fantano, I felt like there were little details on this LP that were missing and those details would’ve made this album a 9 or a 10. At the same time This album is really personal to me so I’m like a 7 or an 8 on this album, Pixel Bath is still a 10 to me tbh.

Tbh least favorite for me would be positive one negative one not entirely sure but it doesn’t hit as much as all the others. Hard disagree with pirate radio being the weakest song just cuz it moved me so much personally but to each their own, 8/10 album for me
I found jean dawson back in 2019 when I googled "ooga booga" just for the sake of it and I fell in love eversince.
Past few reviews been the same records I listened to in the same order. Awesome. 🎼
