Rikidōzan was stabbed in a bar fight over an insult.. He survived the stabbing with ease but didnt take care of himself after the initial surgery and died in a week or two later.
It was not Iranian it was a yakuza. the story was that he was stabbed over someone stepping on someone's shoe. But there also was a rumor that that was a fake story and that he was stabbed and robbed.
@@MattSingh1 It was an action-packed thrill ride. A little thin in the artistic awards nomination vein, but an entertaining movie nonetheless. Michael Douglas is one of those actors who can do a great job in a not so great flick.
Rikidozan Was Quite Possibly the Eddie Graham or Dory Funk Sr. of Japan ... His " Learning Tree" Was/Is a Who's Who of Puroresu/Japanese &/or International Wrestling
Maybe Not Always From or Through Him 100% Directly ... But - Also Quite Possibly - Through Baba, Inoki & the Multiple Others He'd Mentored and So Forth
Yeah Ric it's called the Japanese Yakuza. And i'm shocked you don't know much about that. Considering they run pretty much every Japanese promotion over there.
I respect flair for putting himself in a very dangerous situation by going to Korea to fight Inoki at a time when things were extremely hostile towards outsiders and being involved in a political scam.
I believe it just so happened the guy who killed him was Yakuza. Rikidozan was said to be a loud mouth, heavy drinker and would go to bars proudly and obnoxiously. I heard the guy who killed him was beaten up by the his fellow Yakuza members after they found out he killed Rikidozan
Let me guess, Ric was there the night Rikki died, he held him right there in his arms as he bled to death

Yeah, a knife dipped in urine which gave him poisoning. That stuff about 2m USD is complete nonsense.
*The person that stabbed him was Iranian. The knife/urine part of the story is correct too.*

No one truly knows because they were not there, stories can be manipulated for the purpose of agendas.
flair's rivalry with a masked superstar
new japan is older than all japan, they both were breakaway promotions from japan pro
Black Rain, with Michael Douglas. Not Purple Rain
Purple Rain had a better soundtrack.
@@ithinkaboutthings9052 Well duh 😂
*A very underrated film (Black Rain, that is)*
Goldust is black reign

He's that plus Lou Thesz, Gotch, Hackenschmidt
What's "the mob?"
it doesn't exist

Ric, Rikidōzan wasn't a gangster.
It was. He was an Yakuza.
Because Japan was mentioned Dave meltzer gives this conversation five stars.
😂😂...had the conversation taken place in the Tokyo Dome or Korakuen Hall it would be seven stars

Rikidozan was murdered by the Yakuza because they found out he was Korean. Plain and simple. RIP Rikidozan.

Exactly it’s sad. Funaki is part Korean too
