Thank you so so much for this. I have OCD and I'm also a spiritual person and the law of attraction has made my OCD so much worse. Most of my OCD is magical thinking so when I learned about the law of attraction I just spiraled. This video gave me so much comfort. I don't want to be in fear of my thoughts all the time because anything you try not to think about you'll think about even more.
@@maddywall6115 Hi you’re so welcome, thanks for watching! I’m so glad this video resonated with you, I completely agree my magical thinking OCD went out of control when I learnt about the LOA. I now realise it has been way oversimplified in it’s teaching to gain a mass following. It’s one thing to have a positive mindset to produce a positive outlook & actions, but to suggest you can just use thought to create your reality is very misguided. It’s also very damaging to mental health sufferers in particularly OCD, it’s shameful these people put this stuff out there. Like you say the more people say not to think of something just has the opposite effect, it is also wrong to suggest we should try to change negative thoughts to positive ones. All this does is send a message to our brain that this is important & wrong which produces more negative thoughts, a much more compassionate spiritual response would be to accept all of our thoughts without judgement. We can be the observer of our thoughts & feelings with as least involvement as possible, let them be there & they will fade on their own this is ultimately what healed my OCD. I hope this helps, you’ve got this! 🙌 Much love Kirsty. 😊❤️🫶
Thank you for making these videos. I just found you today. I’ve been following the law of attraction/manifesting since I saw the secret in 2005. It’s a bunch of hogwash unless as you said you’re taking action to achieve what you want. I also thought I created bad situations with my thoughts. Finally someone addressing this very important topic in depth.
I totally resonate with this video as an OCD suffer and I have magical thinking and have done for over 54 years from childhood when a grandmother passed away .Also I have had every other subset of OCD over the years aswell .I have been practicing spiritualality for the last 10 years and yes I was terrified about the law of attraction theory and still am at times .I went through the exact same thoughts. I now try to tell myself that these magical thoughts are not reality ,its a daily struggle, and a terrifying struggle a lot of the time , as I think i can make things happen to people through my thoughts,(I know its not logical )but I keep on fighting it in the hope that I will beat this terrible disorder .In saying this having OCD and practicing spirituality had made me a more tolerant , loving, nicer ,honest human being ,inspite of being in this silent and secret Pure O disorder . I do follow you and have commented before thankyou for your videos and your kindeness and good work trying to help and advise OCD sufferers ❤
@@debrajackson8700 Thank you for watching, I’m glad it resonates with you. I also believe spirituality has made me much calmer & less anxious despite the misconceptions mentioned in this video. I just don’t believe everything I see now, anything that promotes fear in someone I immediately discount now. If it’s not loving & compassionate I just don’t see how it fits spiritually. I really do wish people could see the harm these LOA videos could actually cause to people suffering from OCD & anxiety. It’s one thing to adjust your mindset to a more happier & productive one but to make someone scared of their actual thoughts is terrible. To accept all of our thoughts with love & compassion for ourselves is the most freeing thing we can do. Wishing you all the best, much love Kirsty. 😊❤️🫶 Xx
Great video. I too hate all the idiots who create videos about manifestation, life does not work that way!. Of course if you have magical thinking OCD it loves to take themes and bend them into a warped thinking for the sufferer and it can lock them into a position where life can become unbearable making us on edge , anxious, paranoid , always checking , repeating , engaging in all the OCD make up we are trying hard to shake off everyday on the road to recovery !. There is nothing more soul destroying than having a good day then later clicking on you tube and having your OCD triggered by some video or headline from it that connects to your personal theme /obsession and down the rabbit hole we go again!, leaving the good day some what tainted. It often feels there is no escape . However we must remain strong in our therapy and "rational" convictions we hold.
@@kirksART Hi thanks for watching, I completely agree how triggering RUclips can be when suffering from OCD & when I was in a really bad place my magical thinking was just in overdrive, so seeing LOA videos all the time didn’t help. I now see it as an opportunity to put my therapy into practice so when I see those types of videos now I can leave them be & not get so involved. I don’t have to believe everything I see & hear, it certainly isn’t fact. I’m glad to hear my video resonated with you & I wish you all the best! Kirsty 😊 Xx
My ocd and instrusive thoughts worsened when I got into astrology and law of attraction. I regret getting into those things because it has caused me more stress and worry
@@courtneyrice7911 Hi thanks for watching, sorry for the delay in responding. Yeah I get this so much the whole spiritual community should know better than to put this stuff out there especially when it can be so damaging to peoples mental health. Please know these LOA gurus do not explain this whole concept in full & purely base it on magical thinking for click bait when in reality your thoughts do nothing without action. I was terrified of thinking certain thoughts for fear they would come true but that is just not the case. Like you say it made my OCD worse because the more I tried not to think certain thoughts the more of them I would get. I had to remember that these are just thoughts & leave them alone with as least involvement as possible. It was hard to let these scary thoughts be there at first but with practice it got so much easier. I really hope my video’s are helping you, I wish you all the very best! Kirsty 😊❤️🫶 Xx
@stuckinthemudofficial they are helping! Thank you so much for what you do! I feel like I've been plagued by magical thinking since I was a kid, and I find comfort in knowing I'm not alone with this. I do wish those LOA weren't so black and white. I have stopped listening to those videos because they've done more damage than good. It seems a lot of ocd sufferers have experienced mental health decline when getting into new age concepts. I do believe it positive thinking and trying to look for the good in all situations, but worrying about awful instrusive thoughts manifesting is just too much!
@@courtneyrice7911 I’m glad to hear the videos are helping. Yes I completely agree that the LOA community & all the click bait videos do much more harm than good especially to people suffering OCD.
