  • In the hunt for more power from my FA5 Civic Si track day build, I add a Skunk2 Alpha header along with a rare Go-Power 3-inch exhaust, and, wow, is it brutally loud.

    A lot of work to just get passed by a guy with a stock mustang GT he got on Craigslist from some boomer for $15k but I salute you. Also im just busting your balls. Looking at getting an fa5 hence why I’m here.

    gotta say i love the sound. Also, prepare for the insane vtec crack above 5k rpm with a aftermarket intake. 8th gen civics are pretty much all intake noise above 5k and it makes a insane difference in tone of the car.

    I just got an '11 FA5 a few weeks ago. I love you channel and what you're doing to your Si. I plan on focusing on tires and suspension mainly, then later on performance(engine) mods.

      This car has proven that you can go really far with this platform on stock power. Good shocks, big tires. Have fun!

      @@DriveBreakFixRepeat I just replaced the very worn out stock suspension with some original replacement KYB's. Later I do plan on going with a coilover suspension and corner balanced. Just didn't have the coin, but couldn't wait either. Keep the great videos coming!

    I have in intake on mine. I got a few clips on how it sounds. Will be installing 1320 headers with hfc with the stock exhaust till I can save up for full race.

    hey love the videos and your upgrade path, been following for a while. if the noise is really a PITA it might be worth giving Hytech a look for their 2.5" catback. its a twin loop design and supposedly loses very little power for what it is. might be a good local choice provided you don't mind shelling out some $$$ for it.

    Sell the gopower and buy full race

      The Go-Power exhaust setup was so cheap I can afford to hack it up and try to tame the noise. I have an idea...

      I bought the Rev 9 cat back looks and sounds like the full race but cheaper 3 years later still love the sound

    Was there any noticable power gains or a difference in the driving feel of the car? Minus the loudness haha

    • @DriveBreakFixRepeat
      @DriveBreakFixRepeat  3 года назад +1

      Not really. I think the Hondata OTS map I flashed onto the car doesn't work well with this setup, feels slower than stock until like 7500rpm+

    • @tougeM2
      @tougeM2 3 года назад

      Header, exhaust should have been a noticeable difference even with ots tune

      I see. I'm trying to keep my car as stock as possible but get a little more power with bolt ons. Not sure if this is the best route but I'm planning on going with a hondata, high flow cat, mishimoto SRI, and NST underdrive pulleys. Hopefully that is enough to get some gains.

    What exhaust is that I want to get one

    • @DriveBreakFixRepeat

      GoPower Motorsports. The company doesn't exist any more so these exhausts have become quite uncommon to find.

    Do u just swap the header every two year for smog? Your in southern California right?

      This is the exact reason I’ve gone through so many exhaust setups with my car. My current setup is catless and it sounds extremely quiet. All the parts were designed with the internal cabin sound in mind.

    Our cars (I own a tuned 2010 FA5) NEED to be properly tuned to take advantage of bolt-on parts...just do. They really wake up (with full bolt-ons) once you either have a dyno tune done, or even an e-tune, like I have (Steve @ etunez.com).
    Love the build, though, so please keep the parts (and reviews) coming. 😊

      Agreed. I'm quickly learning that these base maps are fine for driving around town, but are very underwhelming once the pace picks up. Have a few more things to tinker with and add on to the car, then I'm finding a tuner ASAP.

      Sounds great man. Glad that you agree and see what’s up. Lots of folks out there who will FOREVER dispute this topic, and run a full bolt-on/throttle body/etc car WITHOUT any tune at all...tons of them say that it doesn’t make much of a difference, when in all actuality, it’s literally night and day!
      Great channel, videos, and content. Been a subscriber for a good while now. Found you from having the same model/gen that I do, and will continue to support ya. Much love from Winnipeg!

      @@circadianhaze I have a 2011 FBO Fa5 tuned by Dan at E-tunez lol the all mods and no tune guys don't know what they're talking about. Straight up losing power with FBO and no tune. We put busses on untuned Si's.
